Built on public licensing records
Most listings begin with SAMHSA's federal treatment locator and state licensing records — the same public sources regulators maintain. Facilities can also write to us and ask to be added, and those go through the same licensing checks before they appear.

More than 1,000 listings have been checked by hand, and our reviewers work through more each month. Manual review means someone on our team has confirmed the licensing details against the source record rather than trusting the feed.

Kratom laws are changing fast — know where your state stands
Kratom is legal to buy under federal law, but the map underneath is shifting faster than it has in years. Nine states plus Washington, D.C. now ban it outright, with Tennessee and Kansas the newest to take effect on July 1, 2026, and Connecticut and Louisiana not far behind. California sits in its own category, with a state commercial ban and city ordinances but no criminal-possession law, while Rhode Island just became the first state ever to reverse a ban and move to a regulated market.
