Opioid Rehab Centers and Treatment Programs

Opioid use disorder responds to treatment that combines medication with counseling. Care usually starts with withdrawal management and moves into ongoing prescribing, therapy and monitoring. Programs listed here cover that range, from short medical stabilization to long-term maintenance handled through a regular clinic appointment.

Medication choice is the main thing that separates providers. Methadone is dispensed on site under federal certification, buprenorphine is prescribed and collected at a pharmacy, and naltrexone works differently again. Listings show which each provider offers, so compare before you call around.

Contact details always go direct. Calls reach the facility itself, never a call centre.

Common questions

Answered from what is listed here.

What is opioid rehab?

Opioid rehab is treatment for opioid use disorder, which NIDA describes as a complex, chronic, treatable medical condition. It usually combines withdrawal management, one of the three FDA-approved medications (buprenorphine, methadone, or naltrexone), and counseling or behavioral therapy delivered in outpatient, residential, or opioid treatment program settings.

NIDA calls medication the standard of care, and behavioral therapy runs alongside it to address problems medication does not treat, such as co-occurring mental health conditions.

Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT)https://rehabseekers.com/medications/mat/
What are opioids?

Opioids are a class of natural, semi-synthetic, and synthetic drugs that includes prescription pain medications and illegal drugs such as heroin. Morphine and codeine come from the opium poppy, oxycodone and hydrocodone are made by processing natural opioids, and fentanyl is made entirely in a laboratory.

NIDA states fentanyl is 50 to 100 times more potent than morphine, and warns that counterfeit pills made to look like oxycodone can contain it without the buyer knowing.

What is opioid use disorder?

Opioid use disorder is a chronic, treatable medical condition diagnosed when someone has two or more of 11 symptoms listed in the DSM-5. Those include using more or longer than intended, craving, spending a great deal of time obtaining the drug, continued use despite problems, tolerance, and withdrawal.

NIDA reports about 5.7 million individuals in the United States had opioid use disorder in 2023, and defines severe opioid use disorder as addiction.

Opioid rehab is treatment for opioid use disorder, a condition the National Institute on Drug Abuse describes as a complex, chronic and treatable medical condition. It covers withdrawal management, the three medications approved for opioid use disorder, counseling, and care delivered in outpatient clinics, residential settings and certified opioid treatment programs.

The class is broad. NIDA defines opioids as natural, semi-synthetic and synthetic drugs: morphine, codeine and opium from the poppy plant; heroin, oxycodone, hydrocodone and oxymorphone made by processing those; and fentanyl, made entirely in a laboratory and 50 to 100 times more potent than morphine. The same treatment framework applies whether use began with a prescription or with something bought on the street.

This guide covers what opioid use disorder is and how it is diagnosed, what withdrawal looks like and how long it lasts, the levels of care and how long each runs, what treatment costs and who pays, how methadone, buprenorphine and naltrexone differ, and how to find a program.
