My daughter was hospitalized earlier this year at Agave Ridge. The facility had come recommended by a mental health profession, boy was she wrong. It was the worst experience I have ever had seeking mental health… treatment. The social worker was rude, refused to call me back. Never talked to a psychiatrist during her stay. She was exposed to the worst of the worst, including horrible staff. I tried to complain and asked for someone to call me to voice my concerns. I was promised a call.... Eight months later never received a call. They refused to listen to me about my daughter's situation and brushed it off. Now I am trying to resolve some of the financial issues, and again they will never call you back. You have to keep calling and hope you get someone because they will never call you back. I filed a complaint with their corporate office and no follow up. This is a money milking machine and they could care less about anything but your money...... STAY AWAY

10/10 — So Grateful for Agave Ridge As a mother, having your child admitted to a behavioral health hospital is something you never imagine yourself going through. My 19-year-old son was experiencing severe depression… and spent about a week at Agave Ridge Behavioral Hospital, and I cannot express how scared I was when he was first admitted. I constantly wondered: Is he safe? Is someone watching over him? Is he being heard? Is he being treated with kindness? Agave Ridge gave me something I desperately needed during that time: peace of mind. The facility itself is beautiful, clean, quiet, modern, and very well organized. It honestly did not feel like the image many people have in their minds when they hear "behavioral health hospital." There is unfortunately still so much stigma surrounding mental health facilities, and I hope sharing our experience can ease another family's fears. The staff was attentive to my son's needs, and he told me that although the rooms were very cold 😂, he never once felt unsafe or unheard. He participated in most of the treatment groups offered during his stay and was treated respectfully. I was also extremely impressed with their security and privacy procedures. Patients have an individual code, and without that code, you cannot simply call and speak with them or obtain access to them. As a parent, knowing that outsiders couldn't just contact or gain information about my son gave me tremendous peace of mind. Visitation is held during designated hours, and we were able to visit in a clean, comfortable cafeteria-style area that honestly reminded me more of a hotel breakfast area than what I had imagined a behavioral health facility would look like. Being able to call and stay connected with him during his stay also helped tremendously. But I especially need to recognize the main front desk receptionist. ❤️ That woman was an absolute angel in disguise during one of the hardest weeks our family has experienced. She helped me navigate everything — visitation, dropping off supplies, questions, discharge, and all the little things you don't know when you've never been through something like this before. She even became a short-term source of support for a worried mom who was understandably in panic mode. She truly seems like a jack of all trades and handles everything with patience, compassion, professionalism, and grace. Someone, please give that woman a raise! 😂❤️ The kindness she showed me will stay with me long after this experience. The nurses and other staff were also incredibly patient with me. Nobody made me feel like I was bothering them for being worried or asking questions. In a situation like this, respect, patience, and compassion go such a long way, not only for the patient but for their family too. Thankfully, my son was able to be discharged earlier than we originally expected, which was such a blessing. When he left, we received plenty of information and printouts regarding treatment and next steps. From admission to discharge, information was organized and provided in folders, which made an overwhelming process much easier to navigate. Of course, I wish our family had never needed a place like Agave Ridge. But considering the circumstances that brought us there, I could not be happier with the care my adult son received or with the way our family was treated. If another mother or father is reading reviews right now because your child or adult child may be admitted here and you're scared — I understand that fear. Based on our family's experience, I would recommend Agave Ridge Behavioral Hospital over and over again. Clean. Quiet. Secure. Organized. Compassionate. Respectful. 10/10. Thank you, Agave Ridge, for taking care of my son when he needed help the most — and for showing his very worried mom some compassion along the way. ❤️

Beautiful setting and grounds. However, received little or no information without numerous calls, and in person visit regarding the status of the patient. Later upon reviewing the doctor's Notes we found errors and no… follow up on the promised actions for the patient. Felt as though we were being lied to so that we had no right to question treatment. Frustrating to say the least.

The facility is clean. So there is that. The communication is so bad. The only place I habe had a worse experience with is Oasis. This is their sister hospital, but i was hoping they would be better. They ARE much… cleaner. Visitation daily so that is great. But my daughter (15) has been there a week and I havent spoken to a doctor one time. One morning the nurse tried to give my daughter the wrong medicine. My daughter takes like 4 meds in the morning and she is very familiar with what she takes. The pill cup the nurse tried to give her was just one pill and she told me it was a pill she has never seen before. Good thing she know what her meds are or that could have been bad. Later on the nurse did bring her the correct med. Every other facility we have regular meetings, I was asked about availability for post hospital appointment, not here. No one reaches out unless I call first. The one time we did set an appointment to discuss things no one called UNTIL I CALLED the next day. Again it is clean, you can visit regularly, and your experience may be different than ours. Im not saying dont go here, just be prepared if you do. We wont ever go here again.

After waiting for DAYS for a call from the psychiatrist I removed my daughter and took her to a doctor that actually was willing to communicate. Do NOT take your child there if you’re expecting professional… communication and a treatment plan. They have 1 doctor and they go home by 11 everyday. They don’t return phone calls and when they do someone calls that has no idea what’s going on with your child. Sadly, it’s just a place that holds your kid for a long as they can just to make money off your kids crisis without offering actual help to the child. My daughter would ask about what was happening and how they were going to help her only to be shushed and talked down to. 10/10 run away from here.

I loved it here! :) Went through the hospital entrance and everyone made sure to make it as least stressful as possible. We all got hot breakfast, lunch, and dinner served daily (as well as snacks) that we got to pick… from a large variety of food at the cafeteria! And of course, we had access to ice-cold 24/7 so don’t worry about that either :) This was my first experience at a psych ward, so I didn’t know what to expect, but everyone, including the staff, were soo damn funny and fun to talk with. We got to play games, go outside, meditate, and there was socializing throughout the entire day as well as group therapy. You aren’t forced into anything, and also it’s a no touch hospital meaning that the staff will not cross any boundaries. There are numerous wellness checkups daily and you never ever need to worry about being that one kid sitting in the corner being left out because if the staff (and especially the patients!) will make sure you’re included, and safe they also have a little calm room that you can ask to go in for a little break incase you’re overstimulated. And anytime I was curled up in a ball crying, the patients would come up to me and comfort me and they were so so sweet. I made multiple friends there who I am still in contact with today as well. Highly recommend, amazing staff, food, accommodations, and also, never be stressed to ask for help or directions from staff💞

It was kinda cool here, but would not recommend this to any trans person as my identity wasn't respected in here. I am ftm (female to male) but I was called a "she" when I clearly felt disrespected, and they made me… stay on the girls side which I didn't feel comfortable in since I clearly didn't belong in there or felt like myself there. Would not recommend at all if your trans.

Discharged patient here. This place is ran like a prison. Ankle monitor, doors to rooms locked between 10am - 3 pm (cannot even use your own bathroom) the servery asks for your name to give you real life prison-quality… food ( fake eggs, etc) small units for limited social interaction, most (not all) of the nurses and techs are selfish and cold towards patients, being openly rude, sleeping on shift (night nurse) or cursing me out for saying this place was understaffed due to incompetence in a private phone conversation. (Nurse Jodie, Marigold Unit) she even openly commented to my new nurse Malisha (who was good) that she “corrected me”, like it’s not my fault this place is ran poorly. Rules for dayroom access are changed daily, forcing insomniac patients like myself to lay agitated for hours on the bed waiting for breakfast to get access to water, juice, or coffee. The only positives were the frequent smoke breaks outside. Hospital provides cigarettes, and shout out to tech Erika for being good. Dr. jones and the social worker are nice though. Too bad they cannot mitigate how this place really is though. Thank you for your time reading this, and I will not be reaching out to discuss whatever repeating sentence you guys use on bad reviews. Good day!

Our family is sincerely grateful for the attentive and compassionate support and care that our loved one received during his intake at Agave Ridge Behavioral Health. It was very difficult moments and they answered every… call, every question and concern that was presented. From the reception to the visiting area everyone was kind and friendly. It was a long drive from home for visiting time, Selina and Linda, the receptionist were always compassionate and willing to help. Dr Michum was thorough and knowledgeable about the condition of our loved one. Rose the case manager was on top of things and kept us informed every step of the way. All the nurses were very helpful but Jamie was awesome, I cant thank every one of them enough. Thank you all and God bless you always.

We love Agave Ridge! When my twin sister was in the battle for her life with her mental health, Agave Ridge ended up being the blessing my family was hoping for. They immediately welcomed her so warmly, walked her… patiently through the difficult moments, helped her with her insurance needs, and ensured she had a treatment facility that would take her upon release. They were the crucial first step in my sister's recovery, and I will always be grateful that Agave Ridge gave me my twin back.

You do not see a psychiatrist or therapist here 1 on 1. It's all group therapy activities. The only people you meet with 1 on 1 are intake, social workers, nurses for meds, a provider, and shortly a physician (if… available) to determine release date. If you're looking for 1 on 1 psychiatric treatment, look into another facility. Do not bring any clothing you care about here! I brought along 2 shirts, 2 pants, 2 shorts, and 3 undergarments last Sunday to wear on the unit. Everything was searched and cleared. Day after day I waited for my clothes to be delivered to me but it never happened, which is when they informed me that my clothes were "lost". I was stuck in paper scrubs for my entire stay (8~ days) and it felt extremely dehumanizing, not only just being stuck in paper scrubs but having my items handled so carelessly. I had a meltdown due to their incompetency and nurses/techs looked at me like I was the crazy one. I was paired with someone who has very poor hygiene (ex. leaving her urine soaked underwear laying in the bath/bedroom, dripping period blood on the toilet seat and not cleaning it, leaving used pads on the ground) and the entire room including the bedroom smelled like urine because of her which made it very hard to relax or even sleep in my room. From what I know, that was the only bed available when I got there. If I knew I'd be stuck with someone with as bad hygiene as her I would not have gone here, as it actively stressed me out and as I stated I could barely sleep due to the stench. When I talked to the techs working, they said they knew she had bad hygiene. I do not believe someone with hygiene like hers should be placed in a facility where clients are paired together in rooms. I did ask to change rooms almost every single day, but they were so overcrowded that there were no open beds for me. Fights and drama are constant, techs/nurses do little to nothing to handle it (they often just go back and forth/argue with the people involved) and more often than not another patient has to resolve it. It actively adds to an unprofessional environment. My same roommate would have constant meltdowns at night (9-11 pm), often wailing sobbing screaming threatening the nurses while people were trying to sleep and it'd drag on for hours. The nurses and techs would do nothing to resolve it despite the obvious fact that it'd disturb our sleep and would encourage the behavior by going back and forth with her. I've been here two times, 11/10/25, and 2/6/26 and I do not recommend this place at all. But I do express gratitude to the tech Tony who was always able to bring a good attitude and mood to the unit, Amy who did my crisis plan during discharge and who would host meaningful groups, all of the activity therapists who truly enjoy what they do, and the people who work in the cafeteria. They are the reason my 2 star is not a 1.

I went here for Mental health and walked out with my mental health even worse. Disgustingly dirty. The doctor there is gross and Egotistic. I Wanted to leave immediately after talking to the doctor. If you think you’re… coming here for mental health, it’s all people Detoxing off drugs. The staff is rude . This place is disgustingly unprofessional

BEWARE This facility is unsafe in multiple respects. I work in the mental health field and am well aware of appropriate standards of care when treating individuals experiencing a mental health crisis. Based on my… experience, Agava Ridge should not be operating. My 20-year-old daughter, who had given birth to her first child just five days prior, voluntarily sought help for postpartum depression. She had been severely sleep-deprived and required stabilization of her medication. She was not suicidal and did not express any intent to harm herself. She sought help appropriately and willingly. Placing her at Agava Ridge was a serious mistake. Despite having just given birth, she was placed in a paper gown while actively experiencing postpartum bleeding, soaking through pads intended to absorb moisture. She was not permitted to rest in her room and was instead confined to a large group room with individuals undergoing detoxification. This facility is clearly not equipped to provide appropriate mental health care, particularly for postpartum patients. When I contacted the facility to inform them that I would be transferring her to a safer and more appropriate setting, staff falsely informed my daughter that she was not permitted to leave voluntarily. Again, she had never indicated suicidal ideation and had admitted herself solely for medication stabilization. She was misled and prevented from leaving. Fortunately, she had strong advocacy. Her outpatient case manager personally traveled to the facility and refused to leave until my daughter was discharged. Staff informed the case manager that although my daughter could leave Against Medical Advice (AMA), she would still be held for 24 hours, which is not legally permissible. Additionally, the attending physician behaved unprofessionally, including stating, “I work at the hospital you want to transfer to, so I will be your doctor there as well.” Although staff later denied this statement, we confirmed that the physician does in fact work at that hospital, making it clear how my daughter would have known this information. It is deeply troubling that someone who responsibly asked for help was treated in this manner. This was my daughter’s first experience in a behavioral health facility, and due to this experience, it is highly likely she will be hesitant to seek help again if she needs it. Agava Ridge is not staffed at a level appropriate to care for such vulnerable individuals. Clients are placed on ankle monitors to track their movements, which is alarming for individuals who pose no risk to themselves or others. Being locked in a group room all day under surveillance is not treatment—it is containment. This is not care. I will do everything within my power to ensure others are aware of the conditions and practices at this facility.

I am incredibly grateful to Agave Ridge Behavioral Hospital for the care and support they provided to my teen during the holidays. From day one, the entire staff showed genuine compassion and professionalism. I received… clear, up-to-date information on a daily basis, which helped ease my concerns and made me feel included and informed throughout the process. What truly stood out was how the staff treated my teen—not just as a patient, but as a person. They helped him feel safe, comfortable, and respected, which allowed him to focus on his treatment and healing. Over time, I could see his confidence grow, and the stigma and fear he had about psychiatric hospitals slowly fade. They helped him understand that getting help is a strength, not something to be ashamed of. Entrusting your teen’s mental health to others is one of the hardest things a parent can do, and doing so during the holidays was especially heartbreaking. The kindness, patience, and dedication shown by everyone at this hospital made an overwhelming situation feel manageable. I will always be grateful for the role they played in my teen’s journey toward healing.

I sincerely hope this message is seen by the December, 2025 staff. My experience at this hospital was humbling to say the least. I sincerely appreciate my time there though. First day was a little rough, but there was a… great crew there that really helped me feel as comfortable as possible. Met some great people there on both sides, patients and staff. I've already forgotten some names, but Jasmin, Darrin, Tony, and Tracey (apologies for misspellings!). These guys are patient advocates, perfect people for their roles and much more. So much wisdom, patience, and human connection. Really, there was a great team up and down for most of the primary patient facing personnel. I'll recommend to others. I feel it saved my life to have been there. So any other complaints or inconveniences are irrelevant.

My daughter was transferred here after an incident. While she was there, over Christmas, we asked them to giver her multiple messages that she never received. We asked if we could talk to her and they basically told us… if she wanted to talk to us she would call. They told me she had to be discharged on a certain day. We were trying to find another facility for her to go to. The morning of the day she had to be discharged we found out she was not going to be able to be transferred. I called 5 times starting the morning of the day she had to be discharged leaving messages to please call me back throughout the day. Finally at 5:30PM the day of her discharge they finally called me asking when I was going to pick her up. While also telling her that I just didn’t show up. Their communication with parents and with each other seems to be non existent and they treat the parents like total crap. And again ON CHRISTMAS they let my daughter believe we forgot about her after we asked them to please give her a message telling her we love her, merry Christmas, and we missed her, hoping that once she heard that she would call us… my daughter cried when she got home and we talked about this. Terrible institution.

I am writing to express significant concerns regarding the quality of care provided during my loved ones stay at ( Aguave Ridge Behavioral Health). While the environment appeared clean, several aspects of treatment were… unacceptable. Specifically, staff responsiveness was consistently poor; on multiple occasions, my requests for how my loved one was doing were ignored for hours no call back ever happened. At a visit my loved one started to have marks on their body that weren't there before entering facility. . Furthermore, there has been theft amongst us I bought new clothes with tags on still and my loved one never received was given donated clothing. This experience fell far short of the professional and attentive care one would expect from a specialized facility."My time at the rehabilitation center was a complete nightmare. If you or a loved one needs help, think twice before choosing Agave Ridge Behavioral Health. Although it may seem like a nice place at first, the experience quickly becomes horrible. Unfortunately, many employees lack the compassion and time to attend to patients' needs or even answer questions.
