It's like a used car dealership. If you're paying out of pocket, they want the lint. If you have insurance to pay, great. They make money to keep the owner surfing in Hawaii. Must be nice. Get your person to… meetings..AA or NA. "Rehab" doesn't do it. It's just a scheme *edit. Still a salesperson.... You guys are a screwdriver trying to hammer a nail. The people in the meeting rooms are the ultimate tool. No thank you. Also, update your pictures..they're trash. "We...are always willing to have a direct conversation"

If you are looking for a long term rehab for your loved one, look no further. My brother was in a few rehabs before my mother and I found TARC and nothing else could compare. The way the entire staff truly cared about… the recovery of the guys there and their families is extraordinary. My brothers case manager, Ryan, always stayed in constant contact with both my mother and I. He was always a phone call away if we had any questions or concerns. He also reached out to us at minimum, on a weekly basis to keep us updated on my brothers progress. He always showed genuine care, compassion and concern. No other facility he was in ever did that! They also offer weekly family support group meetings which have been so helpful. After visiting during one of their family weekends, I could see the positive community and its impact on my brother. They really focus on a healthy lifestyle, behaviors and routines which my brother has continued after leaving TARC. I am extremely grateful for all the staff at TARC and their role in my brothers recovery.

I chose Augustine Recovery because of Jason’s passion, honesty and commitment to recovery and trauma based treatment. Christine guided me through each step of the way to get our son there. Once he arrived, I received a… call…he’s here, he’s safe. For the first time, I could breathe. Augustine Recovery has been a life changing experience. The family weekends are immersive, supportive, and meaningful. The treatment team was not just focused on my son; they were piecing together information about our family system in order to promote true healing. The commitment and support that we received was invaluable. Jon, our case manager and Karen, our therapist came together in every way possible to help my son and family. Jon was always one step ahead of me. He would listen and ask questions - often challenging my ideas and was always right in his approach. Karen, our therapist, always knew how to bring things back into balance. I truly appreciate the amount of time she spent to bring about the best outcomes in therapy. I have never witnessed such dedicated people interact with my son and be able to reach the depth of understanding the way they did. I was often in awe of them. My gratitude to Augustine Recovery and the entire staff is immeasurable. Trust the work that they do here and miracles unfold.

I am so grateful for the compassionate care, guidance and support that TARC provided my family. As a sibling, I sometimes felt overlooked in the recovery process. TARC gave me a place to be involved in my brother's… recovery and helped me feel supported and included. Every employee is incredible and inspiring, but I want to give special recognition to my brother’s case manager, Jon. His dedication, experience, and support made a profound impact on our family during a challenging and emotional time.

The Augustine Recovery Center gave my husband the type of help to make lasting and real change possible. He has attended other programs and they did not have the same impact on him. His Case Manager, Jon Carter, was a… vital part of his rehabilitation journey. I received phone calls from Jon weekly, sometimes more if needed. His perspective and guidance was invaluable and very appreciated while going through such a hard time. I had very little hope left and could not imagine my husband taking ownership and responsibility ever. But he did and this made it possible to finally work on the real issues, to repair broken relationships and start to heal. Our son was not on speaking terms with him anymore and our daughters were near that stage, too. We had been separated for a long time because his addiction was killing our marriage. TARC not only focused on my husband, but also the healing of our family. My husband and our family are on a road to recovery and I could not be more grateful to ALL the staff at TARC.

I had a great experience at this recovery center. The staff knows what they are doing and genuinely care. A big shout out to my case manager Scott for giving me a new purpose in life and still caring about me when I was… rude to him. Scott is a true pioneer of recovery regardless of what his patients say to him. His number 1 priority is transforming lives there for the better. I also need to give Will, a promising DCA at this recovery center who goes above and beyond for all patients there. I would've left 3 days in this program and he professionally gave me insight on how it was best I stay and how my life will be so fulfilling to just stay and make the most of it. Will has all the makings and attributes of a future case manager at this recovery center. A true pioneer of recovery as well.

Finding the right long term treatment center is incredibly difficult. There are so many choices and so many different models. After diligent research, The Augustine Recovery Center (TARC) was the clear choice for our… loved one. Communication is vitally important. TARC meets this requirement in so many ways. We were contacted often about the progress and challenges occurring, and not by just one person. Every staff member is caring and empathetic to what family members are experiencing. Their direction and communication is constant, starting with your first call to Christine in the front office. Jon, our case manager, was always a quick text message or phone call away; his guidance and compassion went above and beyond what many treatment centers promise but don’t actually deliver. Being a 90 day minimum center, TARC includes intensive three-day family weekends during that time. It is hard to describe the impact these weekends had on me. They are an immersive experience with your loved one, staff, and other parents going through the same journey. Also, there are weekly Zoom support meetings for family members only. I am writing this review in gratitude to everyone at TARC and with the hope it helps someone else making the critical decision of choosing a treatment center during an incredibly vulnerable and stressful time. If you are looking for a place that is caring, competent, communicative, and effective, please give The Augustine Recovery Center serious consideration.

Why did I give it 5 stars? Because they don’t offer 6! The Augustine Recovery Center welcomes clients with grace, discipline and true allegiance in the recovery process from the first phone call. The family support… program and education is first class. Jon Carter is the finest case manager. He is personally devoted to each client and maintains constant contact, deliberate clear expectations and never gives up! He has found his calling. This is where he belongs and everyone’s life is better with him in it. Grateful: an understatement. The Augustine: life altering.

Words truly can’t capture how grateful our family is for everything The Augustine Recovery Center has done for our family. When our son came here, we didn't just find exceptional clinical care but we also found a place… that treated our entire family like their own.The family program is unlike anything we could have expected. The family weekends brought us together with other families walking the same journey, and those connections have turned into lifelong friendships we will always treasure. It's rare to find a program that understands healing doesn't happen in isolation but it takes the whole family. That sense of community is something we never anticipated & will always be thankful for. The environment there is warm, safe, and full of genuine hope–you can feel it the moment you get out of your car on the property. ALL of the staff go above and beyond in every sense of the word. My son’s case manager, Scott, is a true gem! His impact on our son has been remarkable. He provided us not just with support, but with real, tangible results & a restored belief that things could get better for our son and ourselves. If you are a family searching for a place that truly cares, look no further.TARC gave our son his life back, and gave our family the tools to heal together. We are forever grateful!!

Our son went to Augustine Recovery Center for a 90 day program. He was a chronic relapser. We were worn out, scared, and yet still knew our son was always worth fighting for. We heard about Augustine from an… interventionist. It was the BEST decision of our lives. Having other high end facilities let us down, not to mention the fees was disappointing BUT not this place. It’s not the just the place that’s so great——-it’s the ENTIRE staff. They are the best people ever. They actually care and love what they do. I’ll sing their praise until I die. Thank you ALL!!!!!💜🙏🫂

We are so grateful for the support we’ve received from Augustine Recovery. From the very beginning, the level of care, compassion, and responsiveness has made all the difference in our family’s experience. As a… Caseworker, Jon’s dedication and ongoing open communication every step of the way has given us peace of mind. Arriving with many health issues, our son was compassionately assisted with finding a Doctor, arranging appointments, and was accompanied to his appointments. What truly stands out is the way families are included throughout the process. Family Weekends are set up to not only educate us and help us reconnect with our son, but also to have a meaningful experience with other families going through similar circumstances. It’s clear that the entire staff genuinely care—not just about the clients in the program, but about their families as well. We’ve seen real growth and progress in our son, and we couldn’t be more appreciative of the role this program has played in helping him move forward. We are so Grateful that we found Augustine Recovery!

I’m sharing this account because when I was looking for help, I would have benefited from an honest, firsthand experience—one that went beyond marketing language and good intentions. This isn’t written to attack anyone… or discredit recovery itself. It reflects my personal experience and perspective, offered to provide clarity to people and families making difficult decisions, often under pressure and fear. If this helps even one person ask better questions or choose more wisely, it’s worth sharing. When I entered treatment, I was scared, open, and willing to do whatever was asked of me. I didn’t expect miracles. I wasn’t looking for luxury. I was looking for structure, honesty, and meaningful help with my alcoholism. There were good people on staff—kind, caring individuals who genuinely wanted to help. I want to say that clearly, because this is not an indictment of every person who worked there. However, in my experience, individual goodwill could not compensate for broader structural and leadership issues. Leadership matters. Structure matters. And when those elements falter, patients can feel the effects. During my time in treatment, multiple individuals in key or executive roles experienced relapses of their own. From my perspective, this had a noticeable impact on the overall stability of the program. A treatment center does not require flawless people, but it does require consistent leadership, accountability, and safeguards. When leadership appears unstable, patients may feel less supported. Trauma-informed care was frequently discussed, but for me, it was meaningfully delayed. I did not receive EMDR until my final four weeks. By that point, it felt difficult to fully integrate into the broader therapeutic process. Shame and trauma were acknowledged conceptually, but I did not experience the level of depth or consistency I needed for healing. For me, trauma was not peripheral to addiction—it was central. Experiential therapy was heavily promoted, particularly surf therapy. My group was never offered the opportunity to go surfing. While this may sound minor in isolation, it reflected a broader pattern I observed: components presented as integral to the program did not always materialize in practice. Day-to-day operations often felt disorganized. Food inventory issues were frequent. Transportation to outside AA meetings—something many residents relied on—was often unpredictable. Rules and protocols appeared to change depending on circumstances or staffing. In early recovery, structure and predictability are important; inconsistency can undermine a sense of safety. My family paid cash for my treatment. In hindsight, the experience did not align with the cost, expectations, or assurances that were communicated to us. We left feeling disappointed and dissatisfied with the overall value of care provided. I am sober today, and I am deeply grateful for that. However, I do not personally attribute my sobriety to Augustine Recovery. My recovery has come through Alcoholics Anonymous—through consistency, humility, accountability, and a program that is clear about what it is and what it is not. If I had to summarize my experience in a single phrase, it would be over-promise, under-deliver. Or, more colloquially, it often felt as though the monkeys were running the zoo. One final observation, with the benefit of distance: the center’s public presence appears to mirror some of the inconsistencies I experienced internally. Community updates—particularly on social media—are infrequent and sporadic, often aligning with promotional efforts. From my perspective, sustained, transparent engagement with the recovery community seemed limited. This account is not written out of anger. It’s written out of responsibility. People seeking treatment are often at their most vulnerable. They deserve honesty, not just branding. They deserve competence, not explanations after the fact. Recovery is possible. I’m living proof of that. But not every place that presents itself as help is equally equipped to provide it.

TARC has played a key role in our loved one’s recovery journey. From our very first interaction with Christine, we felt warmth, compassion, and clear guidance. Case manager Tony showed consistent care and patience… toward our loved one, and Jon led family meetings that were both helpful and informative. Scott’s passion for helping clients, combined with his own experiences, has been truly inspiring. TARC is a safe and caring place for anyone seeking sobriety and recovery. The emphasis on healthy eating and fitness training is a powerful part of the program and will leave a lasting positive impact on each individual. The 3-day Family Weekend is especially meaningful and unique—staff like Sara, Andrew, and Tony provided excellent educational sessions, while the time spent together strengthened family bonds in a deep way. Our loved one has now moved on to a sober-living home in another state for career-related reasons. While we wish he had chosen to stay longer and then continue with TARC’s sober-living program, which we understand is also very strong, we remain deeply grateful for the foundation TARC helped him build. A big thank-you to all the staff, and to Jason, the owner, for his kind guidance and leadership. God bless you all for the important work you do—saving lives and helping people reclaim their future. —Grateful Family Members

My daughter and I were able to attend the first family weekend with my son, it was an amazing time. My son hasn’t been there long and I didn’t know what to expect but I was so happy to see his demeanor changed when I… saw him from when I first dropped him off, he seems eager to get as much out of his time spent there. I must say, I too learned a lot for and about myself this weekend. Very happy with the staff and their care and just overall their whole program. Thank you Augustine recovery for all your care and work.

Augustine Recovery is a very special and unique place. Everyone on staff truly cares about your loved one. Every time we had a question or concern, our son’s case manager got back to us in a very timely matter. We… always felt that our son was in a safe and nurturing environment. It’s not your typical rehab center. This a family centered place. Our family weekends have been wonderful. You get to know and feel very close to other parents at the center. We have every reason to believe that our son will find success going forward. He has all the necessary tools to continue to live the 12 steps and stay sober. Augustine recovery has made us a much stronger family. I will never forget our positive experience here. The love that is shown to all is truly inspiring. I would highly recommend Augustine Recovery. It’s a very different and unique approach to living a happy and sober life. We will miss seeing the staff. Huge thanks to all.

Augustine Recovery is amazing. The experience at the family weekend with my son, and the other residents and their families was more than I could have expected. The respect, care, and guidance through therapy- both… family and personal, healthy foods, daily exercise, the AA experience, and mentally with Yoga and meditation was very holistic. The support of the staff and the other residents to my son was A+. I would definitely recommend this recovery group to anyone who has the need to separate from addiction. Thanks for all you do.

The staff are highly knowledgeable and provide individualized care,… ensuring that each person receives the attention and resources they need to succeed in life. The facility itself is comfortable and serene, creating a peaceful environment that promotes healing. The group therapy sessions, individual counseling, and holistic therapies were all instrumental in my sons' recovery. Their aftercare programs, which are essential for recovery, helped keep my son on track and continue to help his life-long journey. Looking for a successful treatment facility has been the most important thing I have had to do in my son's life. If you are looking for a facility that offers both professional expertise and sincere and genuine care, Augustine Recovery is the place you are looking for. They truly saved my sons' life, and I am forever grateful for the support he received.

Without a doubt, The Augustine Recovery Center saved my husband’s life, our marriage, and gave the kids their father back. Coming from a small town in Northern Maine, we had no idea what we were in for. In my mind,… Recovery centers were a scary, cold place. But not this one. TARC is different - it’s one of a kind - it’s a diamond - it’s a become a place I hold so near and dear to my heart. The staff is second to none - 5 years later I still consider them some of my most cherished friends. I love you all!

The care and compassion shown by every member of Augustine Recovery is second to none. This is a place where people can be given the tools to heal by staff who genuinely care to see people get better. The intensive… family weekend programming truly sets them apart and provides incredibly useful information and chances for a family to grow together in their healing. They are my first choice for anyone who struggles with addiction and trauma.
