Berkshire Medical Center – Pittsfield Detox and Rehab Services

Berkshire Medical Center – Pittsfield delivers detox and residential treatment. Withdrawal is managed under clinical observation before other treatment begins, which matters most in the first seventy-two hours for alcohol and benzodiazepines. Ask whether family can be involved and at what stage.

Only one side is covered here, so ask directly if both are needed. Approved medication is paired with counseling and regular review. Establishing what happens after the program ends is worth doing early. Ask how the program handles someone who has been through treatment before.

This is my most recent review-Tried (and failed) once more ( actually, more like 15 times now) to have my blood drawn here with orders. Refused every time. Offered to pay out of pocket, was refused. I have no idea what… this place is doing. I don't think they know what they're doing. 10/10 absolutely would NOT recommend this health center. I've live in multiple States, and I can't believe this place is still operating. The lack of care is appalling. Update May 2025-Finally got blood work done, no issues. However, Lab restrooms were appalling to say the least. 10/10 do not recommend. If you require a urine sample, the rest room should be clean. Looked like a club bathroom at 2am. Update- 8/18/26 Several back pain for months. Phsical on 8/7/26. Finally got approved for X-ray. ZERO communication since, other than to notify me that my provider is on vacation. Emails and phone calls are not returned.. 10/10 do not recommend this facility.

Was dragged out by security for "being too loud" when I was in agonizing pain from pancreatitis, but then admitted, apparently i was a bother....money, clothes and jewelry have been stolen from multiple stays there. I… wish there were more options out here because I would never in my life return.

I am a retired Catholic priest who served in the Archdiocese of Washington for nearly fifty years. Recently, I underwent surgery at Berkshire Medical Center, and that experience is the reason for this brief reflection.… Over the years, I had the privilege of serving a large parish in Washington, D.C., that included many physicians, surgeons, nurses, and other medical professionals from the National Institutes of Health and Georgetown University Hospital. Having known and worked with so many outstanding people in medicine, I do not offer praise lightly. I can say without hesitation that Dr. Clayton Peterson is exceptional in two ways: as a highly skilled surgeon and as a genuinely kind, compassionate, and caring human being. Those qualities are a rare and remarkable combination. As a priest, I have met countless people in positions of leadership and responsibility. It takes a great deal to impress me. Dr. Peterson is one of those rare individuals who truly does. The people of the Berkshires are extraordinarily fortunate to have him. He is, quite simply, one of the very best.

My son had a motorcycle accident and was brought by ambulance to the ER where he was treated by the trauma unit. The staff went above and beyond in every move they made to not only treat my son but to comfort me as… well. Throughout the week of visiting and him undergoing spinal fusion I can say we left Berkshire Medical feeling like he had family watching over him when I was waiting to be with him again. I am so grateful for the many amazing doctors and nurses who made it possible for my son to recover and come back home. They are amazing!

I went to the emergency room this afternoon with a sliver of glass in my foot. Went to Urgent Care yesterday and they couldn't get it out. Dr Sills had X-rays and ultrasound on my foot with no results. He ordered a cat… scan and it showed up. He tried for awhile then another Dr tried and couldn't find it. He was going to have a surgeon look at it and decided to try one more time. This time he found a very tiny piece of glass. Think he was happier than me. The staff and nurses were very attentive and tried to make me as comfortable as possible. Thank you to everyone who helped me

We arrived at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield with very little information after being sent over from another hospital and were feeling overwhelmed. From the moment we walked in, Courtney at admissions stepped in… and immediately put us at ease. She was welcoming, compassionate, and genuinely caring during a time when we had a lot going on. She took the time to make sure we understood where we needed to go, answered our questions, and helped get us admitted quickly and efficiently. Her kindness and professionalism made a stressful situation much easier for our family. I know Berkshire Medical Center sometimes receives criticism, but our experience has been nothing but positive so far. The level of care, attention, and compassion we received from Courtney made a lasting impression. She is exactly the kind of person you hope to meet when walking into a hospital during a difficult moment. Thank you, Courtney, and thank you to the team at Berkshire Medical Center for making us feel cared for when we needed it most. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Leaving someone in a waiting room for over 4 hrs with a broken arm is crazy and unacceptable someone needs to fix this issue with this hospital so 6 hrs in after they took an x-ray there still waiting for the results I… cant believe how bad this place has become

★☆☆☆☆

It is so interesting to me that as I’m looking through the reviews the only responses from this hospital are to the positive comments. I could not find one response to a critical comment. A good institution would… attempt to address the critical comments as well, but perhaps there are just far too many critical comments to address. The score of 1 far outweighs any other category. This is proof that this medical facility really doesn’t have a culture where staff are really that invested in your healthcare. Most staff members certainly treated my mother in that manner. Refusing to transfer my mother to another hospital when YOU have this culture is totally unacceptable. I pray for the day that the culture changes at Berkshire Medical Center, or they are cited and held accountable by government agencies.

My mother in law has been to that hospital so many times and they never seem to do anything to address the issue. The communication is pretty minimal - she was admitted and nobody called us. We had to do the whole… runaround to figure out what was happening. We even had to talk to friends who work there (insane) just to get info. They leave her in that ER for hours and hours. It seems like the doctors are just there to check a box in their careers and aren’t super invested in the patients or community. That’s been our experience. I’d never tell someone to choose BMC. It’s been mostly very frustrating and negative for us.

Lack of any wound care other than 3 bandaids tossed on over dried blood….Maiming me for life. Causing subsequent visits to another er. Wound cultures, 2 checks for sepsis, multiple iv antibiotics, shots of steroids and… antibiotics, many many oral antibiotics, 2 long courses of steroids, 2 organisms ate thru my tissue. Cellulitis added to a 3rd skin infection. Multiple pcp visits. Multiple emergency on call calls. Dozens of portal messages. ZERO ACCOUNTABILITY OR RESPONSE TO A COMPLAINT FILED 2 MONTHS AGO. Never even checked for a concussion. Dr Looked over my head and said “doesn’t need stitches” and walked out. Back to say “ct was normal, give her a bandage and a cab voucher and have her go wait in the waiting room” FROM THE DOORWAY. Never gave concussion evaluation (which I had one and was diagnosed in Fairview) Despicable, stigmatic behavior from a medical doctor at a hospital, that houses a medical detox, in a town, full of addicts and alcoholics, at a time in the world where you can’t throw a stone and not hit someone that has never been personally affected by addiction in some way. And then to not even offer an apology, let alone anything else, like a freaking response to my complaint, makes me sick.

Just got back from visiting a family member there. At first I was really impressed by how friendly everyone was. Then I noticed the urine collection canister in the bathroom that had been there for days. The patient had… lunch while I was there and after an hour and 45 minutes the tray was still sitting there. Wouldn't mind so much but everyone i passed was on their phone. Disappointing

I have Never done a review before but something needs to be said. I am having a procedure done and had to get blood work done. The women at the front desk took my information and sent be back and drew my blood no… problem. They told me I needed a urine sample which was fine so I went to the bathroom leaving my purse, coat and phone at the station while I obtained my sample. When I returned less than a minute later, there was a new patient seated where I was supposed to be (where my belongings still were) and the woman made me reach over him to put my urine sample on the table right next to him where my blood samples were still sitting. Fast forward a few days later, I come to get an ultrasound done. They told me to watch the portal and my results should be done within a few days. I don’t see them so I call a few days later and they inform me that I need to fill out a form to discharge my information. I do that and call back to make sure they got it. She picks up the phone and I tell her who I am and what I’m calling for. This woman immediately says “I was just on the phone with you, why are you calling me.” I was shocked at how rude she was. I told her I was calling to see if she got the information ok and that was she said was very rude. And she still continued to be rude! 10/10 worst hospital. I have at least five more unpleasant experiences that I could speak about. They are incredibly unprofessional and always have been at BMC. I will be switching hospitals.
