About Bernalillo County CARE Campus – Albuquerque
Bernalillo County CARE Campus operates from 5901 Zuni Road SE in Albuquerque. The site sits in Bernalillo County, which shapes which public funding routes apply. Nearby communities include Carnuel, Kirtland AFB and Los Ranchos de Albuquerque. Distance matters here, and the nearest option is not always the one that fits.
Detox and residential treatment are delivered here, alongside medication-assisted treatment. Which level fits depends on the assessment rather than on what is available, so the useful first question is what that assessment involves. Care offered spans more than one level, which means someone can move between them without changing provider.

Detox and Rehab Services at Bernalillo County CARE Campus
Withdrawal management covers alcohol, cocaine, methamphetamine and opioid dependence and is handled on site rather than referred elsewhere. Someone starting in detox can move into residential care without changing provider or repeating an intake. Ask what the assessment involves before you commit.
Residential runs long-term, which suits people who have tried shorter stays without them holding. Buprenorphine is available and paired with counseling rather than prescribed alone. Assessment decides the level of care, so ask what that involves and how quickly it can happen.

DO NOT bring anyone you love here and if you love yourself I’d stay far far away. I brought my boyfriend here and signed a release of information so they could contact me with any emergencies and I specifically asked… that they call me if he left so I could come pick him up. They reassured me that they would call me and that they would also call 242-COPS (a city run program of peer support workers) so that there would be “no chance he would leave without someone knowing and being able to help.” Guess what…. My boyfriend left within two hours and nobody was notified, not even the city run program. He was NOT in a safe mental state to be out in the streets but they didn’t care at all. Really unsafe place full of people desensitized to human suffering who lack the empathy needed to do their jobs.
Don't go here. It has changed for the worst under a new director. My biggest issue was seeing the female staff members actively trying to get an African indigenous male kicked out. He was trying to get into a program,… as hard as he could. But everything that went wrong, they blamed him. They took all his stuff and his bedding, his Bible, his papers, and threw them all away, while we were out at smoke break. He came back to his bed stripped "accidentally". But did they recover his Bible or his notes? No. They sent me to an aftercare program with no running hot water, none. Not for dishes, not for a shower. And there was no food. They don't know what they are doing here. This is the most unprofessional and uncaring place I've ever been. The female staff are narcissists. The supervisor Eliza walks around like she's taken some testosterone and shakes her shoulders like she is ready for a fight. When you need something the female staff all go behind a counter and talk about you like it is mean girls. It's not a good place here. Do not send your loved ones. Last time I was there I was yelled at for 15 minutes by a male staff member while I was wrapped in a blanket, waiting for dry scrubs. My wet scrubs were soaked from cold sweats all night (later found out that instead of having a male staff scold me, I should have been sent to the hospital for that amount of sweat). This place needs to be audited and/or shut down.
I have been sober now for 38 months, and this place saved my life more than once before I finally got on track. Most of the staff really understand what addiction is because many of them are recovered addicts or are… family with addicts. They treat everyone with the respect they are shown themselves, but have seen enough bs to not take crap. This place can help you detox and will help you find resources to continue sobriety, but you have to show grit and take advantage of those resources. Sign up to talk to a counselor as soon as you go in to get the ball rolling on what comes next after the 10 days of care they provide. They provide a few meals a day, unlimited bologna sandwiches and bring your own packs of unopened cigarettes if you want to go out for smoke break 4 times a day. Follow the rules, you are here because you couldn't do it on your own. The staff are happy to help those willing to help themselves. THANK YOU to the staff
The old blonde lady in the front intake is just so disgustingly rude how could you work in a position to help people and you have the shittiest attitude ever how would people feel comfortable going here if the intake is… just awful with this lady she needs to work on her people skills and communication skills especially with such a sensitive topic like admitting to a detox
Dose anyone know if this place is co ed
If I could give them 0 stars i would but i assume that 1 star is good enough... The front end staff is very rude they have no proper customer service skills. They treat you poorly because you are seeking for help for… your addiction.. No judgement??? Right when you get there they are already looking down one you one because your might be homeless and you have a drug addiction. Who are they to be doing that. I have come encounter with a over sized native lady that is one rude individual, she looks at you like if she is paying for you to be there!!! No honey your not paying, you guys GET PAID from the state. Your go ring the door bell and they don't answer at all leaving you to go back and seeking what you need so that your not going through the withdrawal's of your addiction. If you make it inside they leave you in a very cold room "waiting for the intake" then that is when it all begins... They only feed you sandwiches "ALL YOU CAN EAT SANDWICHES" they don't give you (when your cold and that is all the time) more then one blanket even if you ask, they say they don't have any. They get mad when they are asked for the everyday items, they don't like to get up from what they are doing to do their job isn't that what your suppose to do when you have a job??? THIS ISNT A SHELTHER is what i was told but yet i see the same couple come in and out not helping themselves to any rehab... But I was told I have to be on a program in order to actually be considered to be helped. I was given a paper with the programs. I did let that over sized native woman know I was already on 3 of them. She did not seem to care but kept being very rude. That place is like a prison... Don't get me wrong there are a lot of nice people that work there. I was told I had to get my meds and they sent me out saying their doctors are fast. I spent my whole day with their fast doctors (Spent exactly 12 hours waiting to be seen. I left the program because of the rudeness. I don't know if I would reamend coming to this place. You will be treated like you actually killed someone and they Start talking about you because you want to leave due to no help with the painful with drawls You have to just deal with what they throw at you. Leaving you without hlp
Needed help and pretty much just showed up to the clinic with no expectations really. The lady just asked what I was struggling with and said, yeah we can take care of you. I was admitted in very little time. The staff… was wonderful. They were respectful, easy to talk to, and overall just nice people. I'm very thankful for you guys. I encourage anybody struggling that needs help to give this place a chance. The food was awesome too, I really appreciate you guys. Thank you 😊
The staff at CARE show everyone kindness and respect. They meet people where they are at and give them the resources to begin a life of sobriety.
This place is a joke. They’re not helpful and a dead end. If you really want help or to get someone help don’t waste your time attempting to jump through all their hoops. They probably don’t have any beds available… anyway and in the rare scenario they do they kick you out the next day and tell you to come back and try again for the bed after the 24 hour hold bed. To repeat the intake process all over again. Their excuse is they’re city funded, they need to figure out how to do better with the cities resources.
Staff is great!
Pros: staff is 💯. Food is good. Medication, hygiene products, & sometimes clothing closet articles provided. If detoxing with nowhere to go, stay overnight downstairs in ONA. you're provided with a recliner to sleep in,… blanket, shower, sandwiches, and laundry (on request). Con: case mgmt. Your future solely depends on how much you stalk the case mgrs. Yes, I said "stalk". I talked to my case mgr multiple times. Filled out multiple request slips for said case mgr during my stay. I have zero income as a homeless person & zero insurance. She didn't help me at all and discharged me to the street while countless others found placement in programs / treatment. More case workers need to be employed here because they are overloaded & stretched thin.
Took a friend in need, he had to wait a couple hours to be admitted and thats ok. But he was forced to go to a rehab/halfway house because the case workers are wortless and with a lack of empathy, she told him he had no… choices but only this rehab place on Figueroa St. No help or resources to continue a sober life after the 10 days of the stay. I couldn't contact with any rehab couple I called they told me my friend has to call, well he didn't have access to a phone whilein Matts.
Nobody answers the phone. How do we talk to someone??
No on answers phone, hours of operation states 24 over two days calling leaving message and on hold for ever, maybe the phone line is broken but no one responds. How sad when someone finally wants help there is no one… there
Amazing staff!
Staff is excellent top notch, great people. No judgement I felt safe and worthy.
Following the mask guidelines for patients but not for staff. Ridiculous. Inforce the rules for everyone not just the selected few.
They don't ever update their hours!!! Get some proper people to help, because obviously they are useless... I am trying to contact you. Open 24 hours? LIARS.
Do not detox here
Rude staff.
This place was awesome. I came in for treatment and they actually treated me like a human being and with respect. The staff was very attentive and cool as well. The Dr helped alot and got me what I needed as well. Thanks
I had the dreaded responsibility of taking a family member to detox a couple of weeks ago. The first person we met was kind of stand off ish and not very personable, my cousin and I both felt like maybe we should go to… Santa Fe if this is how they make a firs impression. This was my first time doing something like this and my cousin’s first time trying to detox. We had questions. As we were walking away , this woman came out and introduced herself. Her name was Rosay, I’ll never forget her. In a short time she answered our questions told us the process and what to expect. After my cousin got checked in she even took the time to give me more information about places that support the families of addicts and how to access them. She really made us feel comfortable and put us at ease. My cousin is at a treatment place in Santa Fe because of her willingness to take the time to talk to us. I don’t know how this place runs or anything like that. But I do know they are lucky to have Rosay . You can tell it’s not just a job for her.
Like life this place is a mix of good and bad, but did a lot of good for me, Enjoy the bologna sandwiches and dum-dums
Come for the detox... Stay for the boloney sandwiches and dum dums. This place is the spot in ABQ. Your staycation will be relaxing and refreshing. For reals though this place can save your life. Its all up to you, but… they can help. Thanks Rosay!! Im doing good now.
this place is complete trash I wouldn't recommend anybody go here or have anything to do with Bernalillo County rude don't care about nobody ugly people
