About BHG Washington DC Treatment Center – Washington

BHG Washington DC Treatment Center operates from 1320 Marion Barry Avenue SE in Washington. The site sits in District of Columbia County, which shapes which public funding routes apply. the District of Columbia draws people across long distances for treatment, so travel time is worth weighing against waiting time.

Outpatient care is delivered here, alongside medication-assisted treatment, an opioid treatment program, telehealth appointments and care for co-occurring mental health conditions. Which level fits depends on the assessment rather than on what is available, so the useful first question is what that assessment involves.

Treatment Services at BHG Washington DC Treatment Center

Outpatient care runs to a set weekly schedule, with evenings and weekends spent at home. That suits people holding down work or caring responsibilities, though it asks more of someone managing early recovery alone. Ask what the assessment involves before you commit.

Methadone is available and paired with counseling rather than prescribed alone. Trauma-specific services run alongside, which matters where the two are tangled together. Co-occurring mental health conditions are treated in the same building rather than split across providers. Ask what the assessment involves before you commit.

I have great things to say about BHG! From the case workers to the whole staff really!!! Medical, front desk, and even security guards. The whole team on Marion Barry SE Center is so wonderful at what they do you can… tell when a facility cares about their clients and it's more than just a job for them. They all sincerely care for the clients to maintain sobriety and are willing to do whatever it takes to help you achieve that goal. Dr. Doan is always so helpful and willing to teach structure and give support. Ms. Dayna Woods is the best sobriety coach in the world with the most patience and care concern wanting me to reach my potential one hundred and ten percent. Ms. Tonya is so educational I learn something new every session with her groups. Mr. Tim always so supportive. Ms. Donna, Ms. Tamara, Mr. Kioshu the front desk support and all the case workers the dosing nurses I have something positive to say about every worker there! It's a big supportive family that I couldn't do without on my path to sobriety and wouldn't want to do without them all!!! So I say a huge thank you for everything every single one of you the staff at BHG!!!! Cause without you there would be no me! Sincerely, Melissa Dispaltro #6666

I have been at Good Hope Institute for almost 6 years, and in my opinion it's no better and no worse than any other methadone maintenance program. I've been on methadone maintenance for over 30 years and have been at… many different facilities, so I believe I know a good one from a bad one. At GHI, you get from it what you put into it. If you want to get clean and stay clean you can; if you want maintenance you can do that, or you can detox. No one is getting rich from keeping someone on the program who doesn't want to be there. One thing you cannot do there is drift along continuing to get high and drinking methadone, and you cannot come in with a sense of entitlement or a nasty attitude and expect people to jump over hoops to do what you want. With all the addicts they're dealing with, and the turnover lately in staff yes, things can sometimes move a little slower than we'd like, but no where on earth are you going to get all your desires instantly! Sometimes you have to be patient, and this program is no different. GHI is not a bad clinic. Sometimes staff there have not been as caring as they could have been, and there have been those who had downright nasty attitudes. They're individual people though, they do not represent the whole clinic. If you want to get off opiates and you're not afraid to work to stay clean you can do it at Good Hope Institute. UPDATE: As of this year, 2019, Good Hope Institute no longer exists as such. They are a completely different clinic, run by completely different management and under a new system. Any of the posts from before, they're talking about a completely different clinic. And I still say if a person is willing to put the work in, they can get and remain clean just as well here as anywhere else.

This place doesn't care about you getting better you have to do that yourself the director Mr. Saddlewhite only cares about robbing medicaid and cash patients until I called the state methadone authority but I certainly… haven't had any money reimbursed. If you can do it without support then go but don't expect them to care much about you.

Very bad place to go to want to keep you on meth as long as possible. Then when you want to leave they drag there feet. Mr Saddlewhite is nothing but a drug dealer I had to go to APRA TO COMPLAIN ABOUT HIM

A very poor service experience. The front desk receptionist is usually quick to snap at you and is almost always drinking lemonade, eating popcorn, reading the advertisements from the morning paper, and talking on her… personal phone whilst checking you in or accepting your money. I attempted to call the clinic anonymously to find the appropriate means of filing a complaint and the front desk person (Ms. Turner) told me I needed to speak with a counselor first. I repeatedly asked for the appropriate means of contacting (directly) the person who would take charge of complaints. She began to scream and yell and made the comment, "Do you understand English!?!?" Once again, I was at a loss with this clinic. I was assigned the wrong counselor. Out of fear of being further treated poorly, I will refrain from using the counselor's name. However the counselor has worked against me from day one. I'm typically very very cautious to bring race into the picture, but my gut tells me that it may have to do with the fact that I'm white and full of questions.... at the same time my head tells me I have nothing concrete and tangible to prove such a claim. My recommendation is that if you are TRULY the kind of person that wishes to seek treatment to ween yourself off of opiates, please please find a different program to go to. It has been my experience that this "for profit" program tries to keep you on the methadone for as long as possible as opposed to gradually weening you off of your dependency. There are a number of other methadone programs in the DC area. Please choose any of the others. Do not go to the Good Hope Institute.
