About Burlington Lakeside CBOC – Burlington
Burlington Lakeside CBOC operates from 128 Lakeside Avenue in Burlington. The site sits in Chittenden County, which shapes which public funding routes apply. Nearby communities include Essex Junction, Shelburne and South Burlington. Vermont draws people across long distances for treatment, so travel time is worth weighing against waiting time.
Detox and outpatient care are delivered here, alongside medication-assisted treatment and telehealth appointments. Which level fits depends on the assessment rather than on what is available, so the useful first question is what that assessment involves. Ask what the assessment involves before you commit.

Detox and Rehab Services at Burlington Lakeside CBOC
Withdrawal management covers alcohol, benzodiazepine and opioid dependence and is handled on site rather than referred elsewhere. Stepping down into continuing care happens with the same team, so there is no second intake to sit through. Ask what the assessment involves before you commit.
Buprenorphine and naltrexone are available and paired with counseling rather than prescribed alone. Trauma-specific services run alongside, which matters where the two are tangled together. Assessment decides the level of care, so ask what that involves and how quickly it can happen.

Truly horrific organization! Spent days leaving messages, because there is no direct calling possible, with no call backs. Several people promised to call me immediately about test results but not one of them took 5… minutes to do so despite assurances because of the importance of these results on my life and future. Mental health dept is one of the worst. Constantly dropping or changing appointments without notifying you. The help desk is rarely populated so leaving voicemails to a dept that you are trying to confirm appointment times and then no calling back. Cannot get online or use direct messaging system, tried for months to get support to get online with no success. These people are rude and simply do not give a crap. I've been hung on more than once, It was a nightmare getting VA benefits, now I'm ready t give up!
I entered VA Lakeside Clinic at 0801, left at 0821 with small piece of debris removed from my shooting eye. It's been there for 72h and sir O'Brian, Joe removed it within minutes. Please note, this was walk in, last… minute visit as I had next appointment in St Albans at 0930. For those who complain about federal health care , especially about Burlington VA Lakeside Clinic, please come to Germany for 1/2year and see for yourself how lucky we are being US Army Soldiers and Veterans, it takes months for someone to even talk to you, yet alone to be seen! I storngly recommend this location to all service members and their families!
Not very helpful since they don’t have a pharmacy or E/R. They told me the nearest VA Hospital is about 2 hours away. Staff was not very friendly or helpful about scheduling an appointment with a VA doctor there since… I’m only going to be here 2-3 months.
Called the number listed and it goes to a call center just for them to tell me, someone from my local clinic will call to schedule an appointment.
0 bad experiences and 100% competent and caring staff!
New review after recent visit. Well, I have nothing positive to say. At all. If you can tele-health, do so.
In the last 20 years I’ve seen numerous VA hospitals and clinics. This is by far the best!!! The employees care about the well being of veterans. Wonderful people here who really give a shit. Top notch!!!! Thank you to… everyone at the Burlington Lakeside VA Clinic.
Called multiple times for mental health and got the front desk answering machine. And when I did get a call back after leaving multiple messages I was told by Meg Garretty that she had never received them and was called… a liar for trying to get some help. Used to love the VA in Vermont now they have gotten just as bad as anywhere else
Not ADA compliant
Used to love the VA health care system in Vermont. 15 years now and I have nothing but disgust with what they have become here. Very unhelpful if not a complete lack of caring at all. Seems to be common place in the VA… health care system around our country now. I NEVER THOUGHT VERMONT WOULD BECOME LIKE THE OTHERS ELSEWHERE! I no longer wonder why so many veterans self medicate with illegal substances or choose to take their own lives ONLY because the VA system CHOOSES to ignore them and treat them like trash in their times of need... THANKS FOR NOTHING VERMONT VA!!!
I have had nothing but great service from these people.
VA clinic. Good, friendly, helpful folks
Great place for vets. Great staff and care.
Props to the Women and Men who run WRJ and of course... The Burlington CBOC. Finest in the nation as I am concerned. Their compassion and dedication to get getting the job is amazing. Truly good people. (Might be a… Vermont thingee!) JeffERY
Been a patient of the VA for many years. Had the pleasant experience of spending some time under the care of the Vermont VA at the Burlington Lakeside clinic. Unfortunately had to leave and move back to Iowa. The… Burlington Lakeside clinic was a Godsend to me. I struggle today but never would have made it this far without them. Wish I could move back and see them again.
I have always found the people here to be friendly and work to quickly get you in to see a doctor or nurse. The downside was that I've had referrals not get sent through in a timely fashion. My impression was that they… got lost in the shuffle. While this was irritating, I have had the same thing happen at a very good civilian hospital, so this doesn't rate the VA Clinic lower than anywhere else (I tend to do my scores relative to other similar establishments). Since that incident, I have been pretty proactive about calling/emailing to follow-up on my referrals. I haven't had a single issue since.
Had an appointment at the VA. Grateful to have the CBOC clinic in Burlington for care. WRJ VA hospital is to far for all Veteran's to go for regular visits, MH, PT, Opthalmology and Lab work. Happy to have my VA Doctor… and clinic close to base during my service and now home as a retired Veteran.
Easy to find with a gps
This is a very nice facility and the care is top notch. I really appreciate having access to it and prefer it to my employer provided healthcare. No bad experiences thus far, only great staff, nurses and doctors. Thank… you.
Been patient since 2010. Doctor missreading x ray of my back telling me I have no issues. I had to call Clinic Director to schedule MRI which showed 4 herniated discs, 2 bulging, pinched nerve. Same doctor again… misdiagnosed me said I had vertigo and nothing else but it was TBI. Doctors sitting on referrals for over 6 months 3 times in last 2 year's. Certain staff is very rude and their Arab cardiologist doctor is a complete joke who said everything is normal despite me having multiple fluttering and palpitations daily. Worste health care to include their mental health portion. Getting in touch with them over phone is impossible since they seldom check their voicemail at front desk.Phone system needs to put a caller to BLC not White River. If you can go to outside providers, you will not be looked down upon by some angry office slouch and doctors. Dr Green Hernandez was great but she retired.
Absolutely amazing. I have used my own insurance for the last 20+ years. Recently it became too expensive for me, so I decided to go with the VA route. Had a minor medical issue and they were so nice and helpful. Quick… resultion of my issue, and I hadn't set up an appointment first. I'm 50 years old and work in customer service and sales. To this day I have yet to receive the service that was provided to me by the va clinic in Burlington.
I have received nothing but the best and most professional care from the Veterans Administration since returning from the Iraq War. The new Lakeside clinic is in a fantastic location, plenty of parking, and close to… Lake Champlain Chocolates to boot! The VA in general has been excellent for me.
I was treated here for 3 years and as far as VA services go this is absolutely phenomenal, the white river junction location is great too. The location is wonderful and easy to get to, its new inside which is nice, and… I have NEVER been treated so well as a military veteran. I cannot commend this place enough for its customer service and attitude, the people here really care about their veterans and do the best they can with what they have (often there are staff shortages and lack of funding, like most Veterans programs). It can be hard to get someone on the phone right away, but leaving a message ALWAYS gets me a return call same-day. That being said, like most Veterans clinics its hard to get an appointment. I am lucky enough that my doctor gave me her nurse line in case of emergency and for basic prescription refills, but I am sure that is an anomaly. The wait time is about 60-90 days depending on the season (winter is harder to get appts). Prescriptions can be a bit of a hassle as there is no pharmacy on location, so they have to contract out. This can be irritating as I frequently had the "we arent seeing it in the computer" conversation for my prescriptions. But usually it was remedied in 24 hours or less. I have been treated at 4 different VA hospitals and never received the level of care the Vermont VA center and its affiliates offer. Thank you!
I use this VA clinic, in association with my outside primary care provider. The generally are able to provide services or help corrodinate between VA services & medications with my private doctor who tends to have a… better ability to get me in, and continuity of providers.
Although they have hours on Wednesday after 5pm they do not provide flu shots, blood draws or other services “unless you are coming in for an appointment with your primary.” This does not provide for veterans that work… during the day and cannot get to the clinic during “regular business hours”. This is very aggravating and does a disservice to veterans that they are suppose to be providing care and services for! If White River Junction were not so far away I would be getting my care by some other means!
Four stars because I have had great service and help thus far but have only been going for around a year.
