About Childrens National Hospital – Washington

Childrens National Hospital operates from 111 Michigan Avenue NW in Washington. The site sits in District of Columbia County, which shapes which public funding routes apply. The practical catchment runs wider than the city limits, taking in people who travel in rather than finding care on their doorstep.

Hospital inpatient care and outpatient care are delivered here, alongside telehealth appointments and care for co-occurring mental health conditions. Which level fits depends on the assessment rather than on what is available, so the useful first question is what that assessment involves.

Treatment Services at Childrens National Hospital

Hospital inpatient care and outpatient care run to a set weekly schedule, with evenings and weekends spent at home. That suits people holding down work or caring responsibilities, though it asks more of someone managing early recovery alone. Ask what the assessment involves before you commit.

Trauma-specific services run alongside, which matters where the two are tangled together. Co-occurring mental health conditions are treated in the same building rather than split across providers. Assessment decides the level of care, so ask what that involves and how quickly it can happen.

Childrens National Hospital Address, Location and Contact Information

The address is 111 Michigan Avenue NW, Washington, DC 20010, in District of Columbia County. Confirm what a program covers before traveling in, since the level of care listed is not always the level with capacity. Ask what the assessment involves before you commit.

Telehealth appointments cover some contact where travel is difficult, which removes part of the journey for people further out. Ask what a first appointment involves and how long the current wait runs before making the trip. Waiting times vary with capacity, so call ahead rather than arriving unannounced.

How Much Does Treatment at Childrens National Hospital Cost?

Treatment at Childrens National Hospital typically costs $1,500 to $5,500 a month for standard outpatient. These are the District of Columbia market ranges rather than this facility’s own published figures. Published ranges move with length of stay, so treat them as a starting point for budgeting rather than a quote.

This site accepts cash or self-payment, private insurance, Medicaid and Medicare. Ask whether the quoted figure includes assessment, medication and aftercare, since those are often billed separately. What you pay turns on cover and length of stay rather than the headline range.

The sleep study team: from making an appointment to conducting the study- it was an absolute disaster. They didn't accept the referral without the ENT DR providing detailed notes on why a sleep study was required. They… stated they dont just accept the referral with the information provided. They wanted the Dr's actual notes! Which took a couple of months to get figured out and schedule the study. The only positive was they had a wait list and would contact you if a sooner spot opened up before your scheduled appointment. The tech who conducted the study was rude, impatient, and very aggressive towards my child, when she put the gel on my child's hair the tech was rough with application and extremely rough on removing all of the pads the next morning. She had her ear phones in while talking/FaceTiming on the phone the entire time. Whenever I or my child was asking questions about the process the tech would sigh before responding or blantly ignore. As if everyone has done a sleep study and should know everything it entails.. The room was incredibly hot and dirty, my child was uncomfortable, overheating and even threw up multiple times. When I asked if there was a fan or something to cool the room down the tech said no, propped open the door and walked away (with the entire bright light up hallway shining directly on my 3 year old, who did NOT stay asleep). I closed the door so my child could get some sleep. How can anyone get any accurate results under conditions like that? This particular clinic apears to be running just to get money from the insurance companies, they do not care about anyone, especially not children- stay away. Dont take any little child here for a sleep study.

I feel very sad and disappointed. We went for a medical appointment at the BMT department because my son needed to see the doctor. We were very excited, but the doctor seemed so uninterested, and the nutritionist was… the same, saying the appointment was a waste of time. My son was so upset that after a transplant, one of his doctors acted this way. It's not fair to treat a child like this after a long and painful process, especially to see such disinterest from a doctor who cared for him for so long. Please 🙏🏻 change your attitude towards patients; they don't deserve to be treated like this 😔

I would have given 5 stars however, getting a call back to schedule a surgical appt. for my son took 3 weeks. I had to leave multiple messages, call multiple numbers multiple times. Upon arrival for surgery we loved the… hospital and staff. It was all very accommodating for children. 2 play rooms and large waiting areas for families. Staff was kind, excellent communication with parents and wonderful interactions with our 2 year old. They have 2 fantastic play rooms for kids while they wait ( waiting is usually a few hours) that made everything enjoyable and a positive experience for our son. They even have cars the kids can ride around the hospital in! We saw Dr. Lukish and I highly recommend Children's National.

My daughter is suffering from alopecia, and her primary care doctor recommended we see a specialist here. I called to make an appointment and was informed that I would have to call back every day to make an appointment… because they do not schedule appointments more than two weeks out. The operator advised me to cross my fingers and “hope” that something opens up. I will NOT be crossing any fingers, nor will I come to this facility. If the staff has no compassion or understanding to a child suffering from a condition they have no control over, then we can go somewhere else. For this to be the “top-ranked” hospital for children it has a poor way of showing it. I am utterly disappointed in the facility and its protocol for clients.

My four-year-old son had appendicitis surgery in this hospital. Dr. Williams was really an expert in her job. All the doctors and nurses in the team were very knowledgeable, extremely kind and smiling people. I thank… them all very much.

One of the Nation's best hospital. Specialized care for children. Make sure to validate your parking tickets to get first 45 min free or to pay $10 instead of $16 for a day. Nice outdoor garden with beautiful flowers… gives nice view of DC. There are plenty of options in cafe. For the families staying long time, don't forget to talk to one of the social workers to learn about the available support and resources.

I had a great experience at this pediatric dental office. My son is 2 years old and had to have four top teeth removed. I was extremely nervous about the procedure because they do not put him to sleep—he was numb but… awake. As a mom, my heart was definitely racing, but we got through it! The doctor was amazing, and the entire staff was so kind, gentle, and professional. The environment was very calm and comfortable, which made the experience much easier for both my son and me. His recovery was also amazing, and we had no major issues. I highly recommend this pediatric dentist to anyone looking for a caring, professional, and child-friendly dental office! ❤️

NOT RECOMMEND Children's National Hospital being one of the best Hospitals in the nation but I don't know what happened with them I have been bringing my specials needs son since he born 16 years ago He have being on… every floor PICU, Recovering Surgery everywhere here He have being hospitalized many times but now with the pandemic I brought him to emergency room few months ago and they had a 8 hours waiting for emergency so I just fill up all papers but when someone told me they had 7 hours waiting I took my son to another hospital But I brought him back after a month and we have almost 2 months here they are short on personal for some reason They have a very unfair policy for who can stay with the patient I brought my son here and next day I went out and they hold me for 30 minutes waiting at front entrance not let me go back to he's room I'll not recommend this hospital anymore unless there is no other around They just got back on track very nice attention their 2026 we stay here for 3 weeks The first review was for 2020 but they they got back to what they used to be

Our baby had to stay here in the NICU and then we had a follow up months later in cardiology. Everyone was so helpful, kind and understanding. These people deserve their jobs. The food court also has pretty good food as… well. I recommend this hospital.

I have questions about moving. We're from Connecticut and plan to relocate to Washington, but we have a 16-year-old son with a disability who depends on us for everything. I hope someone can help. If we move, I'll need… to find a place to live first, then a safe place for my son, and even find home nurses, specialist doctors, medical equipment, medications, etc. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

We had an excellent experience at Children’s National Hospital Dermatology. From the moment we arrived, the staff was welcoming, professional, and caring. The dermatologist took the time to listen to our concerns,… thoroughly explained everything, and made us feel comfortable throughout the visit. The care we received was outstanding, and it was clear that everyone truly cares about their young patients. We never felt rushed, and all of our questions were answered with patience and kindness. I highly recommend Children’s National Hospital Dermatology to any family looking for exceptional pediatric dermatology care. Thank you for providing such amazing service!
