About Connecticut Valley Hospital – Silver Street, Middletown

1000 Silver Street in Middletown puts Connecticut Valley Hospital inside a short drive of Portland, Higganum and the towns around them. Anyone within about 8 miles can reach it without a major journey, which takes in Higganum, Durham, Lake Pocotopaug and East Hampton. Middletown sits in Middlesex County, and the county’s own provision is limited enough that this site draws from a wide area.

Services run to residential treatment. Medication for opioid dependence is available here alongside talking treatment. Co-occurring conditions are handled concurrently rather than one after the other. The facility works with veterans and military families. Licensing sits with the Connecticut Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services, alongside federal SAMHSA registration.

I was part of the STARS program in September of 2012. It was court ordered and I honestly did not want to go. I asked to just be sent back York. I was sick and not looking forward to being there at all. By the time I… got there it was 6pm and I had to do an intake. I hate intakes and I especially hate intakes when I’m sick. They made it as painless as possible. I finally was able to go to the floor, I was put on B side. I was thankful to see a lot of the women who were in York with me as well. My first week was rough and just went to appease court. I’ve done detox and rehab and find them all to be the same. It’s always someone saying they know what I’m going through, they care about me etc etc. I was assigned a counselor and a process group, I still wasn’t wanting to be there. After 2 weeks of being sick and finally being able to get on methadone, I thought this may actually work this time! My counselor was Bev, she was absolutely incredible! She took her time with me and didn’t push me to open up, she just patiently waited until I was ready. I never saw anyone be mistreated, disrespected or degraded. I ended up staying past my discharge date because I had to wait for placement somewhere else after. I honestly owe my clean time to Bev. She showed me that I could do it and I wasn’t hopeless. I have been clean since August 12th 20212. I entered Merritt Hall on September 12th 2012 from York Correctional Facility. I will have 9 years clean in August thanks to Bev and Merritt Hall. ***update*** I see my review is getting a lot of traction. I’m still clean with no relapse! 8/12/2012! Stay humble everyone and know you’re worth it!❤️

Based on CVH's great all women program. The interior is straight out of "Girl Interrupted". As is their occupational therapy or lack off, during free time the girls watch tv, read, or finish cross puzzles. most of the… clients are court mandated hence not there on their own volition. depressing as he11. And technology?? there is none...vitals and everything is written down on paper... i left after my 3rd day. on my discharge papers they put down regular discharge and lied that i had received my evening meds. DONT GO

Called ASD (Addiction Services Division) to inquire on insurance plans accepted by this facility for a referral and resource guide for my organization. The woman who picked up the phone was extremely rude, and yelled… out, “JESUS!” And hung up on me before I had the chance to say thank you. I called right back to get her name, and she just said that there’s many people in her crowded office, and to not take anything personally and would not give me her name. She hung up on me mid-sentence, and I spoke to her supervisor, Francis to make a serious complaint. Francis reached out to this individual, who was told the same thing on how she’s lying and saying she was never rude or yelled out our Lord and Savior’s name. I will be following up with Francis to see if any action was taken to address this miserable, lying employee that shouldn’t be working in the addiction services field.

I was here May 7, 2021-June 12, 2021. Great, caring staff who went above and beyond for the clients. They encouraged clients to participate in group etc but did not force anything on anyone. The staff was truly amazing… and wanted to see clients do better for themselves. I was kept busy and felt that my voice was heard and my needs were met. My counselor was Seva and she was THE BEST! She had my discharge plans ready by the second day I was in the inpatient program (after detox). She listened to my needs and made sure they were all taken care of. This place saved my life and I would definitely send someone I love here! Forever grateful.

Great first and second shift staff! Third shift, not so good. It's not a country club. That's why it worked for me. You're in a rehab . It's what you make of it. Good group meetings.

This is the worst recovery program in the state of CT! That's why 90% of patients are there to just satisfy their probation or the courts!!!! Protect your families and don't leave them here.

All staff should be investigated and change...and supervised 24/7 with cameras every where. Please have this place investigated all the time...they don't care about the patients no compassion at all....no medical ethics… at all.😢 I dont want my son here...I know a staff that works there and she said my son would get worse.
