About Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Ctr – Idaho Falls
Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Ctr operates from 2280 East 25th Street in Idaho Falls. The site sits in Bonneville County, which shapes which public funding routes apply. Nearby communities include Ammon, Iona and Lincoln. Distance matters here, and the nearest option is not always the one that fits.
Hospital inpatient care and outpatient care are delivered here. Which level fits depends on the assessment rather than on what is available, so the useful first question is what that assessment involves. Care offered spans more than one level, which means someone can move between them without changing provider.

Treatment Services at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Ctr
Hospital inpatient care and outpatient care run to a set weekly schedule, with evenings and weekends spent at home. That suits people holding down work or caring responsibilities, though it asks more of someone managing early recovery alone. Ask what the assessment involves before you commit.
Ask what happens at the end of the program as well as the beginning, since that is where plans usually thin out. Assessment decides the level of care, so ask what that involves and how quickly it can happen. Ask what the assessment involves before you commit.

Look for detail on how the first week went, how staff communicated and what support followed treatment.
Worse place on earth, it should be closed down, offer someplace that really cares about people, and the knowledge and wisdom to help ones in need with mental illness, this place made ones ive known thats went there more… sick!!!!!!!
Our crisis is still ongoing, but so far BHC at EIRMC is lightyears ahead of the last psych hospital we visited (i.e., were committed to) in Kalamazoo. The staff at BHC is kind to patients and family alike, and Dr Eason… was nothing short of amazing talking unhurriedly to me about my wife, on a weekend no less. Special thanks also to Drs Kennington and Montgomery who both took a bunch of time to understand my wife's baseline behavior as it might differ from what they were seeing in the psych hospital, and even inviting me (guardian) to join in my wife's "interviews", to make sure we all get the same picture, so we can move confidently towards real healing! Also thanks to 1:1's and nurses, who were without exception caring and kind. None of these places are a picnic, but some are definitely better than others -- this is one of the better ones when you absolutely need healing!
The team here was the best unexpected journey I had the pleasure of receiving. The intervention from the treatment team Doctors, pharmacists, nurses, techs.... EVERYONE ON THE STAFF THAT HELPED! You were God sends and… God bless you for helping me stand back up again. I truly from the very bottom of my heart appreciate you all ❤️💙💜 you helped save a father, a brother, a son and a pretty alright human! Hopefully when you see me again it will Just be to say hi!
This was the cleanest hotel I had ever been to! If there was ever a mess, it wouldn't be long before it was sparkling clean again. The hotel provided not only breakfast, but lunch and dinner as well. The meals were… exquisite and the staff catered to dietary needs. The hotel staff had lots of group activities, many of which were fun. However, if the staff were short staffed or didn't have time, the exercise group got cancelled. After about a week, the groups got repetitive. When I expressed my concern and wanted better individual care, I was told they don't provide the individual care I was requesting. I once asked for a wake up call. The staff were very diligent about that. I didn't just get one wake up call, I got one every 15 minutes. When I wanted to check out, the staff informed me that you have to meet a standard before being allowed to leave the hotel. If you need a place to keep you safe and cater to most of your needs, this is an excellent place to be! However, if you're hoping to experience the scenery and fresh air that Idaho has to offer, choose a different hotel!
I have to say I am impressed with BHC. I have been there 1 time as a teen & twice as an adult. In my experience the nurses seemed to care & they made me always feel better.
The woman they hired to work security at nights is very rude and threatening.
I want to thank the staff at BHC for helping me recently. People that come to BHC are going through one of the worst days/ weeks of their lives, and the staff have a lot of power in making those days better or worse. I… felt like the wide majority of professionals there were kind, comforting, and quick to help without judgment. Brandon, Samantha, and Dr. Williams are especially great people. The recreation therapists were amazing as well. Thanks for helping me through one of the lowest moments of my life.
Great facility
Not a place for learning new skills, just a place to stay safe if you have suicidal thoughts. Not recommended.
Maps might send you to the Dillard parking lot but this is what the front looks like.
I went to BHC about a year and a half ago. The people there were amazing, and so helpful. I had to travel about two hours to get there, but it was the best thing I’ve done to help my mental health. I still have my… recovery book for those rougher days. Because of them and the counseling I had after getting released, I am in a much better head space. Thank you, BHC!
Please do not sent your teen to this facility. Staff - especially Charge Nurses and others, are abusive, judgmental, and lazy creating a non therapeutic environment. Administration has been told, but turn a blind eye.… If this were a federal agency, DOGE would shut it down!
My family member left there with duscharge paper ( after a suicide attempt) that stated there was appointments made for her this. For counseling for psychotropic review, and for physicians. NONE OF THIS WAS DONE .… Didcharge. In the facility they played games no counseling this place is a joke!!
BHC is subpar at best. They have you attend group meetings where they tell you that the cornerstones of good mental health are good sleep and wholesome nutrition. During one of these same meetings, they advised the… patients to avoid caffeine as part of their recovery. Then they went ahead and refilled everyone's big gulp sized Coca-Colas upon request, fed us cardboard, placed me in a room next to a large metal clanking door that they opened and closed all night long, and opened and closed my loud bedroom door every 15 minutes at night while shining a large light in my eyes. During the day, there was only one room to congregate in where a tv was constantly playing movies. And we all know that there's no correlation between screentime and poor mental health. "Surprisingly," I ended up having to be hospitalized again within weeks. But I swore I would not go back to BHC. So we drove down to Huntsman in SLC where they didn't open and close our doors at night, shined a very small flashlight in the room to check on us, provided us with eye masks to block out the flashlight and hallway light, and fed us very delicious food. There were multiple rooms to hang out in, including quiet spaces. Instead of briefly meeting with one doctor every day, I met with a team of individuals led by a psychiatrist every day for an hour. It was not a perfect experience, but it was easily 30 times better than BHC. Lastly, Huntsman billed my insurance less than half what BHC did and I was there longer.
I have to say this place was awful. First of all I got to speak to an actual doctor for a total of about 15 minutes over the several days I was here. It didn't feel like he was listening to me AT ALL and he just… immediately put me on some medication. I did not know what it was and had to ask several people several times before someone gave me an answer. Second the staff did not intervene at all when they walked in on patients crying, having panic attacks etc. There were multiple times I stepped in and talked to patients who were sobbing in the common area in front of the entire staff for extended periods of time because no one who worked there seemed to care. Some of the staff were friendly but most spoke to me in a completely disrespectful way that made me feel stupid and belittled. The worst part is, I had a weird reaction to the medication I was put on, which made me incredibly manic. I was up pacing around and did not sleep for two nights, and at one point I walked in circles around a table for what must have been an hour. After all this they felt like I was perfectly fine to go home and when they told me so, I had a mental breakdown and told them I was scared to go home because I didn't feel safe with myself, and they told me I was fine and then handed me a stack of paperwork to fill out before I left. I was having an incredibly difficult time filling out said paperwork and the doctor just kept harassing me about it and telling me I needed to get it done, offering no assistance. In the end I left with little to no help for the way I was feeling and a 36,000 dollar bill. The only things I actually learned from this experience all came from talking with other patients. I waited over a year before leaving this review because I thought I may have been being dramatic or not seeing things clearly, however I am still completely unimpressed with my experience and especially the staff.
I had written a review when I was released from admission in March 2023 but retracted it because I haven’t been able to pay off the 3,000 dollar bill I owe yet. However, a year later I am still passionately repulsed by… my experience here and want people to not make the mistake of dismissing the reviews as I did. I was in a low place and gave it the benefit of the doubt that places like this have bad reviews because they deal with people who are mentally ill. I implore you, that is not the case and can say from experience that every person who left a negative review, is speaking with full mental clarity. I am almost certain this place would have a malpractice lawsuit on their hands if they didn’t have the capacity of gaslighting people because of the misconception. They take no accountability for their negligence and respond to reviews by feeding into this idea. But here’s the empirical evidence of why this place is bad, going from least egregious to most. First and foremost, if religious persecution is a root source of your unhappiness (as it is for many people with sexual identity issues) do not go here. The staff is 90% LDS and extremely judgemental. I find it impossible to believe that they don’t let these religious biases get in the way of their diagnoses, since the church leaders have a whole have a prescribe Jesus first mentality then if you have a faith crisis you have a real issue on your hands. They talked to patients with condescension and disrespect and did not supply me with the materials I needed for the program until the last day. In fact I wasn’t informed of any of that upon admission, just treated like an idiot when I was being quizzed and recorded on my progress in a recovery pamphlet that I didn’t receive. If they had any iota of patience, we could have clarified my confusion, and I could have received the study materials much quicker, but they wrote me off immediately. When I actually had the book their questions made sense but only in retrospect. Mind you this superiority complex is coming from people who frequently failed to properly check your vitals by putting the equipment on wrong even though they did it probably 100 times a day and told me to stand up when I was about to faint from low blood sugar from the malnourishment that came from the terrible food. (I don’t think I need to clarify this because even laymen know you are not supposed to make someone stand when they are about to faint but instead ease them to the ground, I fear for how they might handle someone having a seizure) Most nights I couldn’t sleep because I was supplied with a thin blanket that resembled cooking parchment paper and never given another upon request. You don’t meet with the psychiatrist for more than an hour and if you are admitted on the weekend good luck because if you have an adverse reaction to the drugs you are forced to take you won’t be able to change until they come in Monday (if they do). I overheard nurses talking about how they were using AI to complete their homework, which while not really any of my business kind of leads me to an impression of general incompetence. When I left my skin was clammy and my pupils were huge. I couldn’t eat for days. I’m pretty sure they released me with serotonin sickness. (I have diagnosed borderline personality disorder and admitted myself during an episode) The most therapeutic benefit was the trauma bonding I experienced with the other patients and the workshops were okay. I’m not sure if it’s just this facility or these kinds of facilities in general but this did certainly more harm than good and hopefully in the future one facility will set a breakthrough precedence for the way we approach mental health but at this rate, I doubt it will be this one.
Spent the worst year of my childhood in this facility 99-2000 awful place, mostly awful staff ...used to beg them not to give me that shot of halidol....and they always strap me down and give it to me......was hoping… this place had burnt to the ground....sad to see it still exists. Hope it's run differently nowadays.
Just got out yesterday. I felt like I learned some things while staying here. The only complaint I have is the small beds that they have along with super thin blankets; I had to wear my jacket most of the time to stay… warm; otherwise, I felt I had a good experience.
I have been mentally struggling for a couple years now. And I have been in 4 different psychiatric hospitals. And the BHC was by far my favorite and comfortable place. The staff were all respectful and kind. The… facility itself is nice and they keep it tidy. If someone was struggling with suicidal thoughts I would definitely recommend them here. I also love how they teach DBT skills daily. If you are willing to listen, the groups are fun and helpful. Participate. It is up to you to get better. And people there are READY to help you. I am grateful for all the staff that helped me❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I’d give zero stars if I could. First off, when they do an inspection they remove everything off you that you could harm yourself with. I still had a clip left in my hair, and if I was actually suicidal (I wasn’t, I was… just being abused) I could’ve harmed myself with that. One of the nurses there told me I wouldn’t have to worry about paying a dime being there, and a year later I have debt collectors calling me about this place. Im not paying a bill I was told I DIDNT NEED TO. Third, staff didn’t care. One nurse I asked if I was getting out and she said “don’t bet on it” with attitude and I did end up leaving that day. I didn’t need to be here. This place has honestly just made me more of an angry person and has traumatized me.
i love bhc🫶
I would give this place a negative star review! The whole purpose of getting someone help is for the place to actually help them! Wehn someone threatens to kill you and themselves, BHC will do nothing to help them! They… don't get them back on their meds or anything, they just release them without helping... This place is no good for anyone because they can't do their jobs right. They're only there for theoney.
I was in the adolescents unit. I felt like there wasn't much caution on triggers. And staff also didn't intervene much when walking in on you crying. I feel like rules should be updated about staff touching patients.… Especially since that is a pretty common trigger. The only good things I got we're coping skills and meds(after prying from my guardian.) Things were also made up about me from the doctor. Wasn't a pleasant stay.
The staff there are amazing. When I was there and someone would pass out or have a seizure. All the staff would rush over and help the patient. I never thought my younger self would ever get the chance to meet super… heroes! The staff here really care about your mental health. If you want to talk or need advice they’ll give it to you if you’re willing to listen. A couple of the staff such as Tavia, Brandon, Nick, Jenn, pretty much everyone helped me decide what path I want to go down when I graduate high school and get my CNA. I plan on working here in the future. Because the world needs more people like the staff at BHC
I personally don't think that they treated the patients here okay especially as one of them you would feel misheard, and mistreated, I don't recommend at all I would give a 0 star rating if I could
Overall my experience here was decent and i visited a couple of times, it felt like a vacation away from home only because I was able to interact with people other than my family, but some of the staff members mistreat… the patients. As a teenage girl who’s experienced a lot of trauma it seemed a certain staff member had an issue with me from the beginning (Deb) and when I would develop friendships with guys she would bring back things that happened to me and said “you should find new friends so what happened before you came here doesn’t happen again”. A teenager being treated in a mental facility for trying to kill themselves shouldn’t be brought to shame about their friendships by a staff member that should be helping them get better. It’s been over 2 years since my last visit and I still can’t get this interaction out of my mind.
