Eastern Oklahoma VA Healthcare System – Muskogee Reviews and Ratings
Patient reviews of Eastern Oklahoma VA Healthcare System cover ground that official records leave out, from the admissions call to aftercare planning. Read them in this section alongside reviews gathered from around the web.
First time I’ve ever had to use the VA Emergency Room in Muskogee, and I have to say I was impressed. I went in for a dog bite to my hand that had happened about 72 hours earlier. I was checked in within about 15… minutes, got my vitals taken and wristband, and then waited about an hour and a half to get back to a room. They were extremely busy, though. A couple of veterans in the waiting room who had been there before even said it was the busiest they had ever seen it. Once they got me back, everything moved pretty quickly. The nurse took my vitals and the doctor came in shortly after. He had already reviewed my records, knew my tetanus shot was still good, looked at my hand, and explained what he wanted to do. They sent me over for X-rays and offered to wheel me over, but I told them I could walk. I signed in at X-ray and literally about a minute later they called me back. Got the X-rays done, walked back to the ER, and within probably 5–10 minutes the doctor had already reviewed them. He came back in, explained what they showed, what the plan was, prescribed me an antibiotic, and told me what to watch for and to come back if anything changed. The nurse brought my paperwork in, took my wristband off, and I headed down to the pharmacy. Turned in the prescription and within about two minutes I had my medicine and was walking out the door. I know the VA gets a bad rap from a lot of people, and I’m sure everyone has different experiences, but I can only speak about mine. For as busy as they were, I thought they did a great job. Everyone I dealt with was friendly, professional, and seemed to genuinely care. Muskogee VA was on point for me. Definitely a five-star experience.
Had hip replacement went to 5 West rehab and actually everyone was outstanding stayed 10 days and the care was excellent. Thank You All.
My husband has been going there for at least 20 years and they were so good to him and then the last 3 years we drive a hour to get there and his appointment has been canceled! The time before that he got 30 minutes… down the road and they canceled his appointment! They have done this now numerous time! This is supposed to be a professional facility? It has gone down! Go to Tulsa!
My favorite VA facility and it's only 5 minutes away.
Had to drive over an hour to get there and just to get told they couldn't do a procedure. Nurse had called and given me the wrong instructions for a colonoscopy, the guy checking in before never got prep instructions… and had to reschedule. the nurse apologized and said it happens all the time then the Dr. blamed me for not prepping. The VA has a reputation for a reason and this place is it.
Amazing Nurses!!
Rehab for broken knee, great nurses, staff. PT,RT and OT! Good food, and care.
Cannot ask for much more. Wonderful, caring facility. Every single person working, helping and volunteering there truly are America- loving, respectful, professional and helpful. They all go above and beyond to help… veterans.
My brother was/ia a patient at this hospital and I just want to say THANK YOU! For providing such excellent care for your patients.
This was the weirdest travel I have done in a long time. The hospital is "back in the woods"... Off the beaten path. Trust the navigation when they send you down Shawnee Ave. It really is the turn.
I would like to take a moment to sincerely thank EVERYONE at the Jack C Montgomery VA Hospital. I have always been treated exceptionally well by EVERYONE I’ve ever had contact with! It is very obvious that these… dedicated professionals have a genuine concern for all the veterans in their care, and all of us veterans appreciate all of you so much! I would also like to commend Lesa K Trickett. I had an appointment in her office this morning, and was so impressed with her! She was so kind, courteous, and professional! This beautiful lady was wonderful to deal with, and I would like to recommend her for a substantial raise in pay, a commendation, and a months paid vacation! She is a true professional, and a great blessing to the veterans she serves! Thank you for hiring people that care about others!
Honestly shocked to see such bad reviews on here. Every single person I have seen at Jack C Montgomery goes above and beyond for Vets. Blue Team, Dr. Riley is fantastic.
Staff treats the veterans like royalty!
I haven't got any good help from mental health or emergency care in the last two years. Pathetic!
Aa far as VA hospitals go, this is a great one. I began my journey with the VA at the Ft. Sill clinic(which was God awful) and came here when I needed more intense care. I wound up moving to Cleveland Ohio for a few… years and it was literally the worst experience I've ever had in my life. I moved back to Muskogee just for this hospital because I was literally dying due to lack of care there and the staff literally hated the veterans they treated there. The staff at this VA hospital love veterans, and it shows in the care you receive here. Even the DAV rep here is happy to help with your claims, and you can see very clearly that he loves his job and wants to help you get the disability rating you deserve. The only real complaint I have is the parking. If you have a compact car, do not expect to use the 7 designated compact car parking spots. Those are for Jeeps, SUV's and pickups, obviously. And VA police absolutely refuses to address this. So if you don't have a handicap placard, expect to be tied by the time you get to the door.
I used to take my Grandpa to this VA hospital for years so he could see the doctor. Very nice, kind, and professional hospital. I would like to say that my grandpa was a WW2 veteran who had survived and I will never… stop being very, grateful and respectful for being his grandson. I can only say that I thank you for all of you who are, and have or still are apart of the US armed forces and was also a US Navy veteran to boot. It will be forever and always be my pleasure to have been of service to this great and wonderful country of the United States of America.
Great staff Good carrying people that treat me well
I'm an army veteran I can only say this is the only good thing about Muskogee Oklahoma the fact that I can go to the VA and get certain things and Medical Care sometimes it's good but there's doctors up there that I… don't agree with there's been times where I have to stay forcefully and go in front of a judge that I know already from childhood and it's quite irritating because he looked at me as a child and as a veteran and it's hard to distinguish if he's punishing me for being mentally ill or for something I did it back in my teenage years having a mental illness is not easy you have to deal with people asking you stupid things like why are you so excited all the time well it's better than being suicidal like all my friends who killed herself in the past behind drinking and drugs and the fact that they couldn't get any help at their local VA I hope that the VA will separate civilians and Veterans it's not a good thing to have him so close in the same area all the time civilians don't really know what we go through because they don't go through anything they left a mark they hang up the phone they're very disrespectful and they really need to do a revamp on the employment the only time anyone is nice at the VA is when it's a holiday for the veterans that seems like the only time they care but throughout the rest of the year it's all hurry up over counseling appointment oh never mind
The Metal health care facility is amazing. The Dr's RNs and CNA's are caring and well organized. I really appreciate how well I was treated and even the Nintendo Bowling! The ONLY reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is… the beds could use an upgrade, although I still was able to get sleep on them. I had a 3 day stay and left in much better condition than I came in. Thank you and God Bless 🙏 you all
Nurses and Doctors are good thanks 😊 And. Dang good Food. AMEN
All I did was called ask for some information and the lady was extremely rude first she said that they only help veterans but then they said that if it was an emergency they would have to accept the person but that they… wouldn't accept me for whatever reason. Extremely very disrespectfully deceptive. You didn't even let me explain myself before you started trying to be rude. I could be dying and needing help and you may be the only person or the closest place but you would rather sit there and be insulting. I wouldn't recommend this place to anybody and especially not a veteran cuz that's not how veterans treat people.
They are the reason 22 veterans kill themselves each day.
The professionalism of the nurses medical staff surgeons, and the ER staff are all top-notch. You cannot get better. Had it not been for the VA saving my life more than once I would have long been dead. I think them for… everything that they have done
We have experienced a level of incompetence that's disturbing from the V.A. system, and the hospital. My Dad has tried to get care for the a shoulder injury that was documented in his service file. He was seen by the… primary care with the VA and sent to a Orthopedic, but that is where care stops. He has been trying to get a test so the community care orthopedic can treat him. But after 3 tries each one taking 2 weeks they still ordered the wrong test sent the results to the VA and not the orthopedic. Oh yeah, don't use the arm, and suffer for two months with no real expectation of relief. Out of desperation he went to the Hospital they gave him a shot a topical pain relief and sent pain meds in the mail A WEEK LATER. The follow up call from his primary they promised didn't happen. But that was almost a month ago it seems like "out of sight out mind" right, as long as your not the one hurting and can't sleep for months.
Excellent facility from the staff to the attention to the amenities available to veterans all around service in almost every specialty available at this facility very happy with it it is also in a very beautiful… surrounding.
