I would give 0 stars if I could. My husband went here for wound care and the wounds got worse while he was there. He was there for occupational and physical therapy too. Let him sit for hours in one spot without proper… support. When moving Chris was forceful him, agitated my husband to a point where he got upset. Was not a friendly place to be. When they wanted to do surgery and family declined, due to patient was not a good candidate due to infection in the heart they got upset when family wanted a second to opinion. Dr told patient that the wife was to emotional about it. Patient was move back to original hospital with wound worse than he went there. Patient did refuse care at times due to then being so rough with him. Took a while for nurses to come when call light was on, or call light was not reachable. Was not happy with the care my husband got while he was there. Also a watch went missing just after a week that was cellular watch. My husband was never happy being there.
Stay clear, this place doesn’t care about people only money.
Fairview Hospital Late November my friend was in this hospital for her final days. Death is not always an easy thing to deal with. It helped a lot to see her being treated caringly. I want to mention a person in… particular: Elaine, the chaplain. She was so gentle and made the moments of her visit process death as a more normal life event. She sat with us, asked about our friend’s life history, offered to get a comforter in the colors that she liked. My friend could not communicate in the very end of her life, but when Elaine asked her if she wanted to hear a prayer, she nodded yes. It was touching. I thought my friend was not consciously there anymore, but Elaine’s kindness got a response from her. Thanks all for being so kind in a very vulnerable time of someone’s life.
I have been here for 2 weeks and have 3 weeks to go as a patient here. The hospitals policy is that patients are not to leave the unit at all while being under the care at this facility. It is driving me most certainly… BONKERS not being able to even get fresh air during the last few nice days of the MN summer....! I just sit here, in my room, 22hrs a day. However, fortunately,it's pretty comfortable, I have a great view with plenty of sunlight. As well as the DR's, RN's, and NA's truly give quality care. While the rest of the staff here are very chipper and very friendly 😀 I'm hoping for an early release from here. Fingers crossed 🤞
I feel compelled to share the alarming and distressing experience my mother endured at Bethesda Hospital in St. Paul, MN. She was a patient there for several months, and the level of care she received was nothing short… of unacceptable. The hospital conditions were unsanitary, leading to my mother developing sores that progressed to open wounds within just two weeks of her stay. Throughout her time there, she was often left alone without access to a call button, struggling to breathe while staff remained oblivious to her distress. The communication among the nursing staff was horrendous, and it was evident they were severely understaffed. Even when we pressed the call button, the responses provided were inadequate, especially given that my mother was unable to speak. One of the most concerning aspects of her treatment was the damage inflicted on her throat from improper suctioning, which resulted in multiple infections. When I raised concerns about her swollen face, the staff provided conflicting explanations and ignored her attempts to communicate her needs through writing. Once at the new hospital, they were able to see that my mother was not wrong. Her brain had swelling and if left at Bethesda would have gone unnoticed and untreated. The doctor at Bethesda said it was something to keep an eye on but they were not concerned about it at the moment. After having brain surgery, you would think infections and her brain swelling would be very alarming and concerning. But apparently to them it’s not. Requests for her transfer to the ER were dismissed, and it was only after we insisted on her leaving that they suddenly began to check her vitals. Being they had not been properly doing them. While a few nurses and the physical therapist showed genuine care, the overall neglect exhibited by the majority of the staff is alarming and inexcusable. I could go on and on about the neglect my mother endured at this hospital but I’m sure you get the picture. My mother, a dedicated nurse for over 30 years, is now receiving exceptional care at a new hospital, highlighting the stark contrast in treatment. The level of neglect and mistreatment at Bethesda Hospital raises serious concerns about patient safety and well-being. The family shouldn’t feel sick to their stomach to leave their loved ones in the care of a hospital or go home worrying the entire night whether or not they are going to be ok. My mother never wanted us to leave her there alone and would have a fearful facial expression. She was afraid to say anything to us in fear they nurses would punish her later after we would leave. She finally opened up annd wrote down the experience she had there after she knew she was not returning. One of the most worry some thing she wrote, was that there is no end in that hospital. And that there are still 2 people there that have no end for them. As if to say they will be stuck and put through hell without anyone’s help until a miracle happens. I urge authorities to investigate this facility immediately. No patient should endure what my mother experienced, and I worry for those who do not have an advocate to speak up for them. Please take this review seriously if you are considering care for your loved ones. I couldn’t be more serious when I say, they will end up worse off than they came there in and if they are unable to walk or talk it will be a horrifying experience for them. Please don’t send people to this hospital!!!
For over 150 years nuns were able to keep St. Joseph’s Hospital open, thriving and vibrant. It’s where I was born. It’s where my aunt was born. It was a vital contributor to a robust downtown. And, in 5 short years… James Hereford - Fairview CEO - made it into a disgusting and pointless wasteland. Here’s some photos of the courtyard patio that I took today.
I was here with Covid. The nurses and staff are all wonderful, kind, inspirational and caring people that catered to my every whim. In my opinion Bethesda is the best place in the twin cities to be treated for Covid.
Bethesda hospital is not treating Covid patients very well they have good nurses but not good doctors.
My mother had covid19 and she was doing well they intubate her, oxygen was 40% beep 8 but did not wean her she got pneumonia three times Please don’t go into this hospital please they are enemy They don’t care about the… patient or family
I was at Bethesda because I had Covid. The nursing staff was very caring, kind, gentle, knowledgeable. One nurse went to bat for me when something that was supposed to happen didn't, and she made sure to handle it.… Another nurse washed my hair for me & provided what I needed to bathe. I had a plasma transfusion when I was there: one nurse stayed when I asked him to, because I was scared. The care was excellent! Food unhealthy & inedible, in my opinion.
I was in this hospital for 4 months. The level of care was excellent! I received physical therapy, occupational therapy, and recreational therapy while in their care. The recreational therapy employees are terrific and… it really helps the time go by. The gardens are amazingly beautiful. I can't say enough about the aides and how caring they were. My only complaint would be the food. The menu never changes and the food isn't very tasty plus my order was regularly wrong. I had to order out just to catch a break from the bad food.
Our daughter has gotten really good care and the staff are all very nice doctors have been out standing. This is a great hospital. Thank you so much for all you do and the good care you give
My dad was sent to Bethesda from Regions Hospital for after care and therapy. I saw my dad the day after he arrived at Bethesda, his health was down from when he was as Regions. They had him on a 24hr BiPap system,… Region had gotten him off of that. He was no longer responsive. 2 Days later my sister went to see him and found his blood pressure was to high, no one had given him his blood pressure medications that day. During her visit she became aware that he had soiled himself. She requested aid 3 times and no one ever came to clean him up. That was over a 2 hour period. He not getting the simple therapy he need just to get off of the BiPap. The family mounted up and force Bethesda to return him to a real hospital before it was to late and he would never recover. Do not bring your family or loved ones to this place, the care they provide is below standards.
Terrible care, workers are not nice to deal with. Completely unsanitary. My bathroom had tiles falling off the wall with blood spewing out of them! NEVER EVER COME TO THIS LANDFILL!!!!!!
We had a wonderful experience and long term stay at Bethesda Hospital for rehabilitation this summer. We were treated with amazing compassion and care. They certainly are experts in their field. All levels of staff were… attentive and supportive and encouraging. We will highly recommend Bethesda Rehabilitation Center In St.Paul, Minnesota.Thank you for your amazing care.
Our experience at Bethesda Hospital was largely positive. While my husband was a patient there for just under two months, I found the nurses, aides, and therapists to be extremely pleasant, caring, and helpful.
I'm writing this on my mom's account since she's being hospitalized right now. This is probably the worst hospital we ever went to. My mom was in pain in the stomach and it took them at least 10 minutes to respond… asking "how can I help you?". We asked for pain reliever pill and we've been waiting for more than 30 minutes, still no presence. My mom tried to endure the pain through time and finally she got the pill.. it took more than an hour just to get a single pill. I also hated the fact that they're slow and not really responsive, claiming they're "busy". The only good part is the therapy, nothing else. I wouldn't reccomend this hospital to your love ones. It's hard watching your love ones suffers.
If I could give this place a zero then I would, Terrible hospital! They are under investigation for Mal practice and patient misconduct. I have heard of people being left soiled for hours and left in chairs for 5 hours.… DO NOT GO TO THIS HOSPITAL, my grandfather has been removed immediately and if you care about your loved ones do the same.
My father was sen there because he had a tracheostomy, and when they moved him out of the special care unit after he was weaned off the ventilator- he went almost 4 days till they cleaned the inner cannula. I am very… dissapointed, but not supprised. I am not a doctor, but you sure need to stay on top of things to get care for your loved ones!!
Excellent Place for Care
My mother was here for 3 months after having a stroke. This place is the worse hospital ever. Her health went down hill from the time she got there. The nursing staff needs training in all areas. They were horrible to… her. She wasn't bathed. She couldn't speak and would yell at her when she tried to mouth words. She was ignored when family asked staff to help her. We were told they would get to her when they got to her. The doctors cursed at me when I questioned their plan of care. Which they would not show me a care plan. They stopped all therapy. She layed there lile a vegetable. I finally got her transfered and she passed away not even an hour after being discharged. One nurse didn't even know she was a diabetic. They gave her meds that she was allergic to. Even after I reminded them it was in her chart she could not have them. Please do not send your love one here. It was a battle to get her out of there. This place should be shut down.
Treated for PCS (post concussion syndrome). Still had reoccurring symptoms was told that they had no further treatment options and that concussions heal in 3 to 6 months so they don't know how to help me anymore. If you… experience a concussion go to an actual Dr not the NP here that I dealt with in their brain injury clinic.
