Gibault Inc – Terre Haute Detox and Rehab Services

The provision listed at Gibault Inc – Terre Haute is residential treatment, intensive outpatient and sober living. Structured outpatient runs to a schedule while people return home in the evening. The right level of care is a clinical judgement rather than a preference, and an assessment should produce a defined answer.

The listing records a single focus rather than combined treatment, so anyone needing both should confirm what is available. Supported housing is recorded for people continuing treatment after a more intensive stage. Ask directly about session times and frequency, as those details decide whether someone can realistically attend.

Do not send your kids here I was there for three Years 2016 to 2019 I admit, I was not a good kid there, but I was in the Lockdown facility for most of my stay It is a facility that is supposed to help you but in… reality it’s just like A jail for kids outside of juvenile day prescribed me with over 20 different medication over my three years Ranging in varieties from ADHD medication to Diabetes, medication and a bunch of other stuff that I did not need because as soon as I left, I started getting off of them and been perfectly fine There is certain staff there that actually do care about the job and trying to help kids, but the sad part is the majority of them don’t care. They’re just there for the money me personally I have family In the Knights of Columbus at the time, they were a big sponsor. I don’t know if they are now but my family members after I got out and they found out what happened. No longer support them alongside of the Knights of Columbus now I will say there are some kind of good things. There was a time towards The last year of my stay there after they transferred me to a non-lockdown dorm I was able to get a job to make some money by washing dishes and cleaning up after meals now that I am 21 and was in there when I was 13 to 16 looking back on it it is a horrible place and they just want to Put you on as much medication’s as possible so they ain’t gotta deal with you but now that I am out and been off of them and out of the foster care system I look back and think everybody’s Put in a situation for a reason you just gotta be better than them people that are there when you get out if you are so unlucky to be put in there because most of the people there don’t care about you that are this therefore the little pay they get

Shoutout to my 6232 building gang back in 2013. I can’t remember everyone’s names, but from the staff members who tried their best to connect with me on common interests at the time, to the fellow kids who helped… contribute towards my personal growth more than anytime else in my life…. Thank you. I would buy y’all a pint now if I was ever allowed to share my contact info with you back then lol. Other buildings lost utensil privileges but we never did 🤪 As for the system? Yeah it sucks. I was “restrained” at 12 by a 300+lbs women who sat on my chest. I genuinely could not breathe. She told me “if you could breathe, you wouldn’t be able to talk”. A minute later she got up and brushed off my hyperventilating from suddenly being able to breathe again. Fun fact : you call still let out a few words while being choked. You still have air in your lungs, after all. I guess it was a mistake to waste my last bit of air on telling her she was choking me. She was the administrator for the building too! I get it, it’s rough here. During my stay a large 17yr old attacked another kid with a pen and it took three big male staff to keep him from getting to this other kid. The cafeteria frequently had groups of kids not allowed to use cutlery because of “incidents”. But you know what doesn’t help kids with severe mental diagnosis’s? Stuffing god down their throat with REQUIRED Sunday school. Even then people sent to preach to us openly told us about how it’s just a requirement from this catholic school. Therapists missed my now known adhd diagnosis and chalked me up under a vague and now-defunct autism diagnosis and despite weekly visits I never got a step closer towards understanding my mental state until I left here. The only benefit this school had outside of the *independent* good staff was that it taught me what life would be like if I didn’t “act good”. Which was a fair lesson to be honest, but they did absolutely nothing to actually accelerate the process of me dealing with my own demons, so to speak.

Hi my name is Brandon I was at this place for 8 months when I was 12 and 13 it was not a place where anyone should be at any kind of any age I seen a lot of things happened in this place a lot of people hurt and a lot… of abuse I remember I had gotten in trouble for standing up for myself to a kid in there we had gotten into it I tried to leave the area/dorm but it's all locked down he grabbed me and was hitting me so I let him have it cus the staff would let them just fight so I stood my ground and fought like I was thought was right and they placed me in what's called the silent structure I was on it for six weeks I could not talk to no one I could not look at no one I could not have a blanket or pillow and couldn't have a phone call once a week I remember it was my birthday and I was on the silent structure and my mom had brought me in a cake and I was in the dorm and they told me but I couldn't say anything so they sat me down at the table in the dorm with all the other kids and made me watch them eat the cake my mom brought in as a punishment and it was not okay this place does not help it breaks u down and rewires ur brain from the ground up it's not a place u should even think of sending a kid I have more trama from this place than I do foster care or life right now just hear my story and stay away from here I'm walking proof that at 21 it still hurts and that's not even all of it I repeat stay away from here I'm sorry guys I really am that y'all don't know about a lot of this cus ur kids are to scared or to young to understand what's going on in there I really am they take advantage of that

My 11 year-old son went into Gibault May 2024, he was supposed to finish the program by Christmas. Last week, my son was SA’ed by another kid. I didn’t find out about it until my son called me and told me. Staff NEVER… called. Staff will NEVER call if there is an incident with your kid. You will get an email, usually days later. It is impossible to reach anybody by phone after business hours or on weekends. When I was told the higher-ups refused to move the child to another dorm to keep my son safe, I was done, and I pulled him out of there. There were other things that happened that I did not agree with, but this was the final straw. I wish I had believed the other reviews, stating things that go on there. I thought it was just disgruntled parents, or previous clients, but it’s all true. That being said, there are SOME wonderful staff members there who do care about the kids, my son did learn a lot of important things and is better for it. When there was no longer a guarantee of his safety, I had to take him out of there. Read the reviews, do your research, before you decide to send or allow your child to be sent there. If you do send your child and you think, something is wrong, send the police to do wellness checks. Report any severe incidences to CPS. Gibault is supposed to, but they didn’t in the case of what happened to my son, so I did. Keep all email correspondences, and record all phone calls with staff. You may need that information later.

I was there nearly 10 years ago. Staff would take pictures of us, put kids under 10 in harsh, violent, unnecessary restraints. Just kids being mentally ill that need help are put on harsh programs where they wear a… jumpsuit like a prisoner, have to sit away from everyone else and no one can look at or speak to them for days on end. If you're "bad" they take away your rights to see or speak to family. If you're "good" you can eat one food item that your parents bring themselves once a week, and speak to them for 10 minutes a day. Therapist forced me to write a "trauma narrative" and when I couldn't remember what had happened to me in explicit detail they threatened to make me stay longer so I just made stuff up. It won't help your kids.
