GPS Psychology and Anxiety Clinic – Meridian

Although I have not had services here, I called to inquire about scheduling a visit, not quite aware of what was needed to schedule a formal psychiatric assessment, per recommendation of my other providers. I am not… sure who called me back, but I felt they were very dismissive and treated me like an idiot for not understanding that I needed a referral to schedule services (which is why I called to ask exactly who they would accept referrals from or if it was based on insurance needs), nor did they take the time to explain the process or ask how else they may be able to help me. As someone who works in the behavioral health field, this was a super disappointing interaction, and made me feel awful for trying do outreach and receive help. It took a lot for me to make the call and take the necessary steps. Please be mindful of who is taking calls and is the first point of contact for some potentially very vulnerable individuals.

Good news: Gibson is popular. Bad news: you'll never be seen because of #1. I tried calling many times and bottom line, there's a wait list. No one at the office could could tell me how long the wait list was or where… we'd be on the wait list. They also would/could not give ny idea how long the wait could be (2 months, 10 years??, no estimate whatsoever). It's clear they've got a thriving business that's not interested in new business.

Dr. Gibson is awesome. Very knowledgable and friendly, I highly recommend his services.

I have had a great experience here. Dr. Travis is so calm and easy to talk to. He makes me feel at ease and helps me get through my struggles independently. I additionally see Dr. David and he's truly the only… physiatrist that understands my issues and goes above and beyond to help. I also love Toinette at the front desk, she's so sweet and always greets me everytime I come in. Thank you GPS for changing my life!

While the time from referral to app. was 5 months it was definitely worth the wait. From the first contact to our last appointment everyone was kind and professional. Dr. Gibson is phenomenal. When I called with… questions he called and talked with me for a good half hour. I highly recommend GPS.

I was able to get my daughter diagnosed and was provided resources with a plan of action for her and myself. I felt listened to and validated, everyone was extremely kind and helpful. Especially Stephen Gibson who went… above and beyond, he took my daughter’s overall well being and safety serious, answered all of my questions and was quick to help. My son’s doctor sent a referral to GPS to call us. Several months passed and I never heard from them so I reached out. They apologized for not contacting us as it appeared we had been accidentally missed. The lady I… spoke with promised she would make it a priority to have someone reach out within one to two weeks. Still, we were missed again. It’s been frustrating to keep waiting and hearing we will be contacted but never are.

Dr. Daniel Gibson is the autism whisperer. And other mental health conditions as well. You heard it here first.

Dr. Gibson is incredible gifted in accurate diagnosis, and treatment. He is very empathetic, and cares deeply for his patients. He has made emergency appointments and fit patients in that desperate needed help; even at… a sacrifice to his time and schedule, and personal life. He is very dedicated to his work, and makes patients his top priority, giving full attention and time. He believes in making you a master of your own diagnoses, and taking charge of your mental health. He does not give a bandaid answer, he works on truly healing and overcoming. He had made a world of difference in my life, and in all of those that I have recommended see him. I always leave Dr. Gibson feeling empowered and uplifted. Can not recommend him enough!!!

It took me two years to start my mental health journey and I wish I had found GPS Psychology sooner! The environment is so positive and you feel welcomed the minute you walk through the door. Dr. Gibson is very patient… and understands that it can take time to adjust to new information about your own mental health. He guides me step by step along the way as I work on achieving the goal of being independent and using strategies to support my mental health. I can see such a huge positive difference in my life and health since starting at GPS 4 months ago!

I've been waiting a while to write this in order to fully process what happened to me at this clinic. Though I eventually did get a diagnosis from this clinic, which is what I was seeking for help with my disability… claim; I was dismissed and traumatized in the process of getting that diagnosis. As an adult female my lived experience and knowledge of myself and my history was put down to "just trauma" (invalidating even the past trauma I do have), and I was told I couldn't possibly be autistic as I have empathy. That belief is as dangerous as it is inaccurate about autistic people, ableism has no place in mental health and medical care services, unfortunately it is everywhere, including here. As an adult I want to warn other adults seeking an Autism assessment, there are not many options in this state, if you do choose this facility please stand up for and advocate for yourself against similar treatment you may receive here. I wanted also to issue a warning to be prepared for dismissive and harmful language used in a final report if you do choose this clinic, such as I received and I quote: "It is possible that she is exaggerating her symptoms in order to gain attention or services." It was already a fight to even be taken seriously but now this is what I must use for my case, what any potential judge looking at my case will view, language like this.

My employer needed some documentation so I could get accommodation. I was promised it would be filled out at a certain time, at that time the professional stated he would call my employer. My employer was never called… it seems. I was put on medical leave because of it instead. They where supposed to fill out an accommodation form for me and get to them?

They got us scheduled right away. And they are very professional.

Dr. Gibson is a very skilled, kind, and non-judgmental Psychologist. His knowledge about all forms of anxiety and treatment is top notch.

Best place to go to! They had snacks and made sure I was comfortable. I feel confident in my diagnosis and I highly recommend them.
