About Groups Recover Together – Portland
Groups Recover Together operates from 315 Park Avenue in Portland. The site sits in Cumberland County, which shapes which public funding routes apply. Nearby communities include Falmouth Foreside, Falmouth and Oak Hill. Maine draws people across long distances for treatment, so travel time is worth weighing against waiting time.
Outpatient care is delivered here, alongside medication-assisted treatment and telehealth appointments. Which level fits depends on the assessment rather than on what is available, so the useful first question is what that assessment involves. Ask what the assessment involves before you commit.

Treatment Services at Groups Recover Together
Outpatient care runs to a set weekly schedule, with evenings and weekends spent at home. That suits people holding down work or caring responsibilities, though it asks more of someone managing early recovery alone. Ask what the assessment involves before you commit.
Buprenorphine is available and paired with counseling rather than prescribed alone. Ask what happens at the end of the program as well as the beginning, since that is where plans usually thin out. Assessment decides the level of care, so ask what that involves and how quickly it can happen.

Groups is a great place for recovery in a group form
Awesome
The idea behind groups recover together at first I thought I would give it a shot it's a pretty unique idea it focuses on peers helping out peers along with medication and Doctors nurses and essential counselors. I used… to chronically relapse every two three months and that as of now if that's been over one year close to 2.
I have been into groups for a year now and it has been great love everyone who works there and the doctor
There is a place where you’re future looks brighter for you and the loved ones in you’re life. Groups helped me find the strength i didn’t believe i had. . You don’t need alone. Being sober is the best decision i ever… made and groups recover made that possible. Try it. Be sober. Trust me Its the best feeling in the world. Because my family is on my side again. Thank you groups.
I was lost until I found the light of groups. I thought I was misunderstood, a failure and worth nothing to the world. The group has given me a place where I can be, without judging, fears guilt or shame. Where I'm held… accountable, but only to communicate. This was necessary for me to begin shedding the only comfort I have ever known, in the cold cocoon of chaos. Where I thought I was living. Life begins when you leave your comfort zone. I have so much to heal, but know it isn't impossible and groups helped me realize I am allowed to be all the beauty, damage, trauma and mistakes of a conditioned childhood and allow for the acceptance of adulthood, being a mother and learning to accept I'm human, not a thing, I can love, be loved and I've learned something called self-worth. It is embarrassingly hard at times, but shedding the pain in a safe place has just never been a option I found this place in groups. On day I will find it in myself. Thank you
Groups goes out of their way to help clients. I’d been to several programs before Groups, but I’d never managed to truly get clean until I came to Groups.
Ive been in groups just over a half year. It's been wonderful so far, very happy with my doctor as well as counselor. Ill stay with Groups as long as there is room in the group for me!
So I have been trying to get clean for more years than I can count I bet at least 20 years I did the methadone treatment I did the White Knuckle I did the shot where you won't feel anything I can't remember the name of… it but the only thing that has ever helped me was when I started Suboxone in 2013 when I stopped using heroin but the thing was I was still acting the same. I was still committing crimes I was still hanging out with the same people and I ended up going back to prison once again did another two and a half years and in prison they offered me the MAT program and I started groups at the same time that's when I'm finally gotten and by getting i mean not hanging around with the same people not committing crimes making a life for myself. Holding a stable job just bought a brand new to me car with my girlfriend nothing special but very nice 2010 Ford Fusion it's better than what I had which was nothing. So now I actually have a good relationship a loving relationship with a woman who actually loves me not the drugs I can get or not the money that I can when I'm selling drugs but because I'm clear-headed I recognize a good woman when I saw it. I didn't just jump at the first opportunity. So now I wake up every morning happy, clear-minded. Yes I still have to take my Suboxone every day but that's better than spending thousands of dollars on drugs every day. It's nice to know that my girlfriend is going to be there every day. I say girlfriend but if I can help it it will be soon-to-be wife. Because I know she will be there 100% because she doesn't use either. She's actually clean through the program she did. The only way you can stay clean when you get into a relationship is if your partner clean as well and it doesn't hurt if they've already gone through the struggle of addiction and have come out on the other side clean with years of sobriety underneath them. Those type of women or men or partner actually understand what you're going through when you're still fresh in recovery. You need to be honest with them as well that you're in recovery so they have the choice to be with you so you don't risk their sobriety if they're not ready have somebody that has just started their recovery. Alicia told me and the people that are in groups are awesome more than willing to help to lend an ear to give you a ride anything you may need. I have to thank the MAT program and the group's recovery program for helping me and teaching me how to be sober and stay in recovery. The groups is the main reasons that I stay clean and sober. I can't thank them enough and anything I could do to give back and help I am more than willing to do that is part of recovery as well is to give back. This is my little Testament and story I know there's other stories of recovery out there as well I hope other people share them. The more people that share their story the more proof that's out there that sobriety is possible and does work so I encourage anybody reading this that has a similar story to share and send their story as well. My name is Denis Moore I am from South Portland Maine look me up on Facebook and ask me if I wrote this I'll let you know that I did write it. That this is my story and how I got clean. Or if you just need help to figure out how to get into recovery. I'm here for anybody that serious about recovery and to get sober and stay that way.
I’ve personally have had a wonderful experience with Groups Recovery. The staff and co-mates from my group are very supportive. It’s nice knowing someone’s in your corner, there is always someone there to help in what… ways they can. Maybe when reaching out to family or a friend Is not possible or you’re not ready. Groups will have your back, as they have mine.
My experience has been awful!
This place is TERRIBLE!!!! THEY MESS UP SCRIPTS ALL THE TIME, DONT CARE AND DON'T HAVE ANYONE TO GET AHOLD OF. DON'T GO HERE!!!
