Hiawatha Valley Mental Health Center – Red Wing

As a licensed social worker who attempted to engage a therapist through this organization, I am appalled at the way this agency does business. They are unresponsive, they billed for services not provided, and after an… intake interview in November, I still had no therapist assigned by January and did not receive a single (not ONE) phone call to schedule and none of my emails or calls were returned. If you are an individual who needs help, please don't call these people. I called my primary physician after this debacle, asked for a referral elsewhere, had an appointment and a therapist scheduled in a week. I was not billed for services not provided. I know it's probably a great business model on their end to charge folks' insurance agencies $475 for an "assessment" and then provide no services, but it's dangerous when people truly need help to put their well-being in the hands of an agency with no character. Again, if you need help, don't assume you'll get it here.

I've been seeing Jennifer Miles at Hyawatha Valley for almost two years now. Jennifer is only my second therapist in my 60 year PTSD, and trauma filled life. my first therapist went to private pay only after 4… sessions.( Not a good ending to the start of my emotional meltdown journey) Lets just say Jennifer has skillfully guided me to help myself work through my mental health pathways through her amazing bedside manner. She is a caring, compassionate and never condescending person. She is easy to talk to and listens attentively. Jennifer has helped me come back from the edge of the abyss several times. above all I love her honesty. And her jokes. Lol The new psychiatrist Jasmine is also very amazing along with nurse Nichole. And the front desk woman Ally is also a treasure. I highly recommend the ones I at least have come to know and have worked with at Hyawatha Valley. I'm sure the rest of the mental health staff there are just as amazing in they're own right. Matthew Peltier

It can sometimes take awhile to get in to see somebody here. Initially, I was scheduled nearly two months out. The service providers are good at what they do and the support staff are very friendly.

On my very first appointment with Amy Tornio, she had the police take me in for something I did not say. I was already very depressed and needing help. I was very safe and had been going in for inpatient treatment the… Monday following my appointment. I was also staying with family up until that Monday. There was NO reason to have all my right stripped from me. As a professional with many years in her field, to be the one who is dishonest and make her patient’s health worse.

HVMHC's Amy Tornio is possibly the worst Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner in the state of Minnesota. She is negligent, incompetent and devoid of any sort of reason regarding what is best for the patient in concern. I… highly suggest finding alternate means of psychiatric care regarding medications and/or care on any level. I have had her for one year and am completely surprised at her lack of regard for the Hippocratic Oath.

My husband went and saw Susan McCammon for a second session. At the beginning of the session she informed him that his wife had left her a voicemail leaving a very damaging message accusing him of violent behavior.… During the session and afterward he had no choice but to believe her, why would she lie to him? Afterwards he was upset with me and when I finally found out why (I don't like to dig into his session) he told me what she said. I immediately called the clinic and left a message telling her I would never make such a phone call, that I would like to know why she would say such a thing. Long story short, she called my husband back and left him a message saying she made a mistake. That the call was about a different patient. Now I realize we are all capable of making mistakes...but really? His second visit with her and she made things so much worse. Taking someone with mental health issues and then telling them their family if making damaging phone calls about them is more then unprofessional.

This place helped my family in so many ways! I recommend it!!
