John Brooks Recovery Center – Pleasantville Address, Location and Contact Information

John Brooks Recovery Center – Pleasantville is located at 660 Black Horse Pike in Pleasantville, New Jersey, 8232. This address falls in Atlantic County. The catchment reaches beyond the city itself. How someone gets there matters more than it sounds: travel is one of the commonest reasons a course of treatment stops partway.

A quick call before you go will settle directions, parking and what to expect first time. Remote appointments may be possible where travel is a barrier. Reception hours vary, so a call that goes unanswered once is worth repeating rather than treating as a dead end.

I'm too sick right now to give a good review as I cannot get to John Brooks to get the daily medicine I need. I 'm 56 yr female with catastrophic disabilities of the spine, knees and shoulders. I cannot drive and cannot… get there. They won't help me get there even though I have these painful debilitating disabilities. I moved into one of their houses just so I could get transportation but was attacked by a woman abusing heroin. It costs between $30-$40 a day for me to get there by Lyft (even the discounted Silver program) and every month (esp now that I live alone with disabilities), by the third week of the month at $360 to get to and from I am bankrupt from the very small limited disability income I can barely make it with. I'm in the 4th week now, bankrupt again from the exhorbitant costs to travel there all month and am in severe withdrawal from not getting my medication dose, at risk for seizure (as it's happened before) and I'm very sick. I call and plead with them to work something out, but they just keep saying no. I'm doing everything I can to get well and return to work, but that doesn't seem to matter to them. I was formerly a successful career woman in the field of law before being struck down as a pedestrian on my way home from work by a speeding drunk driver in his 20,000-lb truck. I believe I am worthy of their consideration in working out a way for me to get there each day below $400. From a disabled woman now severely sick from medication withdrawl in Pleasantville.

I have a good counselor and that makes things better because I had prior counselors that I could never get a hold of. But this place messed something up with a drug test and gave me a false positive. I have a couple… years clean and I would tell my counselor if I used something. (And I didn’t) But it still counted as a positive drug screen. For people that have to go there everyday it is a pain. Staying clean will get you take-home meds so you go there less. For people who have a bad counselor I would ask for a new one.

After Getting out , they place you to be transported by their sister program, All Roads , All roads has Discriminated against me by refusing to give me ride, saying I'm a liability because I have to bring my wheelchair.… Which easily folds and fits in vehicle. When they refuse me they are violating my rights under the ADA guidelines. They can easily accommodate me but they refuse to give rides now.

Great place loved the staff the only thing i would change is when I was in the detox side, somechad covid on the residential side and the Sent her over to our hall and she was on lock down witch she wasnt listen and… kept going out her room and staff could be on her 24/7. My room was right across from hers and me coming off all the crap I was coming off my body could fight off any more sicknesses or watever so I got covid on top of detoxing. There had to be a better protocol for that especially shecsouls be around ppl who are just getting off drugs and there body already fighting off that crap. But other then that i loved the staff was a little bored there but that is detox for you.

I had a very frustrating experience at John Brooks Recovery Center in Pleasantville. The redheaded woman working in the lab was extremely rude and unprofessional. She acted like she didn’t want to be there, moved… incredibly slow, and showed no respect or urgency when helping clients. It made the whole visit uncomfortable and stressful. I expected better treatment from a place that’s supposed to help people. Definitely disappointed with how I was treated here. Not going back seems like they are there for money not to better society.

JBRC saved my life! I came to John Brooks 7 years ago and can finally say that I have 6 and a half years clean!! Over 1 year off of MAT! This program truly works if you work it!

I'm still clean 10 months later. My counselor was off for 4 days right before I left and she called out my last day so some things were left unresolved. Most the ppl that work there are cool. They starve u after 5pm tho… so u hafta sneak food upstairs. 1 counselor that starts with a T was terrible to me but overall this place is good

This review is not being posted as a client but as a family member if someone who is/was in this facility. First and foremost, the “intake” people are the absolute rudest people on the planet when coming for a visit.… Nasty, domineering and don’t right mean. Also goes for phone staff. The “counselor” according to my loved one did the absolute bare minimum to her recovery , did not help at all with any type of arrangements or assist in taking care of outside matters the client had, such as notifying courts , sending letters etc etc. let’s face it, 9 out of 10 people in the facility have some sort of legal issues, some minor , some not so minor. As far as my personal experience with the counselor , SIMPLY AWFUL. Never returned phone calls, emails etc. etc & did not provide any updates on my family member as well. Truly pitiful. Where do they find these people and why are they allowed to be counselors ? Again, the bare minimum to keep her job & pretend to be helping. I am considering writing to the ethics committee in NJ, and filing a formal complaint on this so called treatment center-in my opinion all they are is a money grab, billing insurances and collecting monies, most of it directly from the state , as these are mostly Medicaid clients. Stay away.

Want to give no stars but my counselor is amazing and most of them are but scared to do things for people who should have it done so everyone won't get it. Lie of you take test for split dose. Take your blood u dose 3… hrs take it again to see how you metabolized it if you don't take the dose test the blood magic ur still ok with the amount in u how knew it was BS. I didn't take mine day prior or for the second one n somehow it was in me still ok

good luck verifying client's last dose of Methadone. All extensions are for Administrative people who DON'T work Saturdays-you can leave a message, but that doesn't help clients returning to MAT treatment on a Saturday… and need to be dosed for the weekend.

Awful and unknowledgeable staff AND DOCTORS. It sucks when your staff is awful, but when the doctors are actually unknowledgeable about the drug they are readily handing out, that's straight up scary. But yeah, don't… get on methadone to begin with but if you do, DO NOT go to this place. Your better off literally ANYWHERE else. Terrible center and program!

I am still a compliant client her and love my counselor and former counselor as well as the one supervisor Miss Emmy, and a few nurses, but half of the counselors are very unprofessional and prejudiced , my girlfriend… has been there 4 years and only gets a couple take homes and her previous counselor tried to revoke them for not doing a group, also violated HIPPA and we let it slide without a grievance because we got her counselor changed. Now her new counselor puts holds on her every single week , still has yet to promote her to the next phase , and we just had a baby and are doing the complete opposite of helping someone who clean and doing everything they are supposed to, if you don’t have a voice you will get dragged through the mud and lied on by your own counselor and clearly do not care about getting back to a healthy family life. We are going to speak to the supervisor who actually does her job and see if we can get this resolved because I don’t think an insurance company would be happy to hear that my girlfriend is being penalized for not going to groups after having a couple years clean and also still not phased up.

This place is the worst!! First of the staff they have there ESPECIALLY the staff at the front desk is horrible. They refuse to help you and are so nasty with attitudes for no reason. The very first time I went there… the receptionist tried to turn me away rather than help me. Then they make you do 4 days of group 3 hours a day they claim they don’t offer MATS to new patients only IOP!! So god forbid you should have a job and can’t do all 4 days the. You’re off the program!! You literally get a stop for EVERYTHING!! Can’t dose until it’s cleared! I’ve been at ARS in mays landing for over a year now and have been clean and sober for the past year!! I was never forced to do any groups I didn’t want to I go a few times a month and it’s Amazing the staff is not only kind but there helpful and understanding as well as the counselors! If I was still at John brooks I probably would be dead by now!! Thanks to ARS for saving my life!! Find a different place and don’t waste your time here trust me!!

VERY UNPROFESSIONAL.. DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE! They don't care at all about the patient, only about money. Speaking of, they refused to give me the cash that I entered with when I asked to have it upon my exit a week… later. They came up with some lame excuse why they couldn't give it to me and promised they'd mail it. Well, we all know what that outcome was. This place is TRASH. Absolute trash with a very unprofessional staff!

Morning staff miserable. Clearly a bunch of failed doctors angry they have to treat drug addicts. I'm ready to walk off the program because of the treatment. They need to clear house 10000% from security, nurses, to… counselors.. there isn't an asset there.

I would NEVER recommend anyone use this place. They say they help families but they don’t! They lie!!! It seems like a hostage situation. No phone calls no visits! Just recordings. A joke!! When someone does answer all… they can say is we can’t confirm if that person is there! That leaves families to worry, especially if their loved one is elderly with medical issues. Help?? No I don’t think so. Even if your the spouse wit poa and emergency contact, they give you the same bs! This is far from help! Worse than a prison! Spare yourself or your loved ones this grief!

I was required to submit drugs screens for DCPP and had a false positive for suboxone which is doesn’t even fall in to my realm of use. Claimed my tests were lost when I demanded them to be retested and also refused to… give me a hair test. Thank god my worker believed me and nothing ever came of it. But after the fact a counselor by the name of Tara Murphy disclosed my personal information to my boyfriend. Revealing test results to him that she was not authorized to disclose to him. A direct violation of HIPPA and what’s even worse is I am not on their program in any way accept for my involvement with DCPP from a fall I made on my own because of someone directly involved with my children. If you value your right to privacy and want to receive proper care do not use this program. They are unethical and backwards.

Im over 5 years clean because of a combination of MAT, therapy, and psychological help. I've come so far and I owe a lot of it to counselors like Jaqueline who take no nonsense, Yvette who became another mother to me… (unfortunately she's no longer at this location), and support staff like Paula and Has, or techs like Jessica, and medical staff like Dan, Chris, or Maria... It takes a village to help come back from the other side of addiction and im grateful to the incredible team they have.
