About Northeast Kingdom Human Services Inc – Saint Johnsbury
Northeast Kingdom Human Services Inc operates from 2225 Portland Street in Saint Johnsbury. The site sits in Caledonia County, which shapes which public funding routes apply. The practical catchment runs wider than the city limits, taking in people who travel in rather than finding care on their doorstep.
Outpatient care is delivered here, alongside telehealth appointments and care for co-occurring mental health conditions. Which level fits depends on the assessment rather than on what is available, so the useful first question is what that assessment involves. Ask what the assessment involves before you commit.

Treatment Services at Northeast Kingdom Human Services Inc
Outpatient care runs to a set weekly schedule, with evenings and weekends spent at home. That suits people holding down work or caring responsibilities, though it asks more of someone managing early recovery alone. Ask what the assessment involves before you commit.
Trauma-specific services run alongside, which matters where the two are tangled together. Co-occurring mental health conditions are treated in the same building rather than split across providers. Assessment decides the level of care, so ask what that involves and how quickly it can happen.

Northeast Kingdom Human Services Inc Address, Location and Contact Information
The address is 2225 Portland Street, Saint Johnsbury, VT 05819, in Caledonia County. Confirm what a program covers before traveling in, since the level of care listed is not always the level with capacity. It is worth checking which entrance to use and where parking sits before a first appointment.
Telehealth appointments cover some contact where travel is difficult, which removes part of the journey for people further out. Ask what a first appointment involves and how long the current wait runs before making the trip. Waiting times vary with capacity, so call ahead rather than arriving unannounced.

Crystal Franklin tempoary casemanger ignored me all the time and has been all along and does not care about me at all treats me like I don't assist at all
If you have paralysis in the face go somewhere else
It's Ren again, I'm still getting screwed around by this agency getting lied too and the list can go on.....one time founding is obviously a joke because even when I needed help with my Toyota Rav they said yes I could… get one time founding then I get told I have to do all these stipulations and such that I can't reach and do. Now I'm back to square one of having no car and this place excepts me to rely on others for the rest of my life with no freedom and independence. If this continues I will be having a word with the owner of this place because I'm seriously getting sick and tired of the games. They say they care about our health rather it's mental or physical but I think the reality is they really don't care because there is no action showing they care. Hopefully the owner sees this and actually does something about it because I'm reaching the end of my rope with these so called service coordinators and such that come to my house pretending to care and such!
Called to ask about there intensive outpatient program. The woman on the phone told me she didn’t know what that was. Put me on hold for a while, still could not answer the question. I’ve worked in mental health for… years and this is a bad sign when the people who work at the organization don’t even know what programs they have. Will not be pursuing their services.
This place has really helped me a lot and I'm very happy because of them I'm here
Each and every time that I am assined a new (psychiatrist for MY 1 med refill they want to play God and want me to switch to meds that are 2000$ plus ..I am disabled and on a fixed income..4xs in 1 year..bull.
I went to see a therapist or counselor here named Virgil Kovachich, and I wish I never had. He was unprofessional, disrespectful, and racist. I'm incredibly self-aware, and I've been on a journey of growth and change… for 20 years. I live my life with intention and purpose. I'm not perfect and have messed up, but I'm intentional about learning from and mitigating my mistakes. I was explaining to him that I have an issue with feelings of disconnection and isolation that often lead me to seek connection in people, places, or activities that are risky or harmful to me. Virgil wouldn't accept that. He tried to make me wrong, arguing that I couldn't have felt isolated in Milwaukee because, and I quote, "it's a bit bigger than St. Johnsbury", like that has anything to do with being connected. He likened my struggles with aphasia and speech after a stroke to his living in another country and told me I needed to shut up and listen to him. I thought he was supposed to be the one listening. He wouldn't allow me to be the one who had ownership of my story. At least once in each of the 3 visits I had, he interrupted me while I spoke and told me that part of my story wasn't real or relevant. When I advocated for myself, he threatened me with unfavorable recommendations and actually followed through after I finally walked out on him. Virgil never tried to hear MY story. Instead, reacted with condescension and snide remarks when what I said didn't match the prejudiced narrative he made up. After I walked out, he regurgitated the tired, overused trope that I was aggressive and threatening because everyone will believe that of a black man. When I called to speak to someone else, I was connected to Nick D. (Dobb or Dubb) and was hung up on after telling my story. Virgil then followed through with his threat to use the tiny power he had to write unfavorable recommendations about me. I've never had an experience like this with a therapist before. I've had therapists I didn't like, but I just went to a different one. This one dehumanized me, disrespected me, and undervalued me, then retaliated against me with punitive recommendations. He is the epitome of unprofessional and has no right to be in the position he is in. I encourage you to advocate for yourself when he tries to gaslight you into believing the life you lived, struggles you've overcome, and progress you've made aren't real. I will be filing a formal complaint and doing all I can to get him removed from his position.
Horrible experience any time I've ever dealt with them. When I was a client of theirs they would blackmail me with not giving me my medication (could cause me to have seizures) if I couldn't make one therapy… appointment. Today I am no longer their client but was having an emergency with medication I needed some advice on. I called their crisis hotline and I asked her if I could go to the ER for help with the problem I was having, she never even answered my question and simply told me she would try to email my psychiatrist. This woman could not have cared less if she tried. I absolutely hate this place
I was told they would provide a case manager and help me find resources within the community “by the end of the week” that was 2 weeks ago. I made multiple follow ups and was told I world receive a call back. Still no… calls. So far I have been completely let down by these people. I will call again today but at this point I’m not expecting anything of them. Vermont has notoriously bad mental health care services and this is just another example of that. Good luck to anyone out here who needs help because from my experience, you won’t get it here.
Love been with them since I was 4 years old
Staff is friendly helpful and courteous
Bad neighbors that mow the lawn at 7 am :(
I love working with my case manager although he can’t always get to me on time or even at all and often forgets me he does his best to help with anything he can. Sky Shoover goes above and beyond to help. It’s been a… pleasure working with him going on 3 years now I do believe and I will be aging out soon. Probably one of my favorite and best case managers I’ve ever had.
Worse place ever
Kind, friendly, overall good experience.
Very helpful.
This service provider is taking adequate measures to negate the spread of covid-19 and ensures client safety.
I love my worker I've known him since I was 5 my case manager is also very good
I have had nothing but good experiences for about 2 years now with this organization no matter who you get for a person you won't be disappointed.
Need to have better services for couples who are trying to get clean together.
Great service and doctors
