Ochsner St Mary BHU – Morgan City Detox and Rehab Services

Ochsner St Mary BHU – Morgan City offers residential treatment and intensive outpatient. Structured outpatient runs to a schedule while people return home in the evening. Ask whether family can be involved and at what stage. Establishing what happens after the program ends is worth doing early.

Wish there were an option to give less stars. Hospital staff is neglectful, rude, and unresponsive. Patient and families remain uninformed and requests for information, consultation, and advocacy go unanswered. I… wouldn’t recommend this place to an animal. They are simply concerned with collecting as much money as possible patients are simply beds filled with dollars. Go anywhere else. This hospital is what is wrong with our for profit healthcare system it’s lost all sense of humanity. What this facility fails at more than patient care is communicating and informing patient and family of on going care.

People were nice, they just didn't give me directions or tell me what was going on. Like, was I supposed to get on the bed? I was freezer and they were going to leave me sit there! I asked for a blanket. And, then I… asked for 2 blankets and a pillow! I was sick and shivering. Don't they teach you to help the patient? What if it was you?

I am very pleased with the care I have received here. I have faced minimal wait times for multiple services and the bed side manner of the nurses I have had every time was so great. I love the down to earth atmosphere.… I moved here from NC, much bigger hospitals, and nowhere’s near the care I have received here. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. I know some people have shared some poor experiences, but I have been blessed with consistent, quality care and my experiences have all been so positive!

All of the staff are friendly and professional. I love how the the doctors and nurses treat us. They make us feel comfortable. They explain every detail of what's going on and provide additional information. Wait time… is never too long. The rooms and bathrooms are always clean.

You wait longer for discharge papers than the actual visit itself. Doesn’t help you with your problems. Worst place to go for any type of emergency.

Literally would not take my dog to this sorry excuse for a hospital. If you love your family do not take them here. Literally let my grandfather lay there and die. They did not hook him up to any monitors, did not… change him unless we asked. Did not attempt to feed him. When asked if he would be fed if we the family did not come and feed him A nurse literally told me. That if the family would not come and feed him then he would basically lay there and starve. When questioned what she meant she said ohh that’s not what I was saying. Literally worst experience of my life. One nurse tells you one thing and then another nurse tells you something different. We asked for him to be transferred. We were told at the time they could not transfer because no bed was available. We asked day after day for transfer and they did nothing. I could say so much more. Not that it matters at this point. He is gone and his family is left with nothing but hurt and questions. Do not take your family member here! They are not trying to heal people. They are just holding a nurses desk up collecting a check.

Went in for complications with my pregnancy. I was bleeding in pain clotting. They did no testing on me and said I was fine then discharged me. I had to go to another hospital to find out I had two infections they… missed and later on that night I miscarried

My experience as an inpatient at Saint Mary’s involved serious failures in patient safety, communication, cleanliness, trauma-informed care, and basic respect for patient dignity. From the beginning, there was little… clarity about my inpatient status, my rights, or what was happening in my care. I was not informed of basic policies, including shower privileges, which created unnecessary confusion and distress. I was taken off prescribed medications, including thyroid medication and blood pressure medication used for anxiety, and left to detox without appropriate monitoring, explanation, or support. These were legitimate prescriptions, not illicit substances. Abruptly stopping them without a clear plan felt unsafe and caused significant physical and emotional distress. Cleanliness was a major concern. The environment did not appear properly maintained, and during my stay I developed athlete’s foot, raising concerns about sanitation. The air conditioning was also not functioning properly, making the unit uncomfortable. These conditions triggered a severe rosacea flare and worsened my overall well-being. Staff interactions were largely unprofessional. I was often dismissed or talked over, and situations were frequently escalated rather than de-escalated. Decisions felt made about me instead of with me, and my boundaries were not consistently respected. The environment felt tense and unhealthy, as though patients and staff alike were treated as emotional punching bags. I also observed differences in how patients were spoken to and treated that gave the impression of racial bias, which is unacceptable in any healthcare setting. As someone with a documented trauma history, the lack of trauma-informed care was especially harmful. This experience significantly derailed years of mental health progress I had made through consistent counseling since 2009. Despite clearly stating that I had an established mental health care team, no effort was made to contact my providers or coordinate care, resulting in a harmful lack of continuity. There were also administrative and billing issues, with inconsistent and unclear information that left me feeling pressured rather than informed. I do want to acknowledge the few positive exceptions. Ms. Angelle and Mr. George, the head of counseling, were professional, compassionate, and respectful. They were the only bright spots in an otherwise damaging experience. Saint Mary’s has a responsibility to provide safe, clean, and respectful inpatient care. Based on my experience, there is significant room for improvement in both staff conduct and basic operational standards.

I’m currently in the er for an x ray of my knee. I got here at 2 am and it’s now 3:40 am and a physician just came in and basically tried to talk me out of believing that I have an injury. He asked if I took Tylenol.… They claimed to be busy but the staff is talking loud, laughing and cracking jokes at the nurses station. Exactly how busy can you possibly be if you have time for that? Very unprofessional and dismissive. If I could give a zero I would

47 seconds with the er doctor. And the last 11 seconds was spent with him standing behind a half closed door trying to leave while we're still asking questions. Maybe it's a doctor thing and I just don't get it. But I… think they can do better.

Would give ZERO stars if I could. Brought someone in that was in a mental health crisis…ER doctor McDonald was an absolute nightmare. No empathy, no compassion, no bed side manner. When I asked more questions he started… raising his voice. I have NEVER been treated this way or spoken to this way by anyone, much less a doctor in an already stressful situation. Disgusting behavior. Nurses and nurse manager were AMAZING and deserve all the praise.

My daughter was sent there from a hospital after being evaluated by a hospital for mental health. I missed a call from the mental health department. I called back and was asked to describe her behavior as to why she was… sent there. I told her but wasn’t finished. She said hold on and came back to tell my daughter was already discharged and route to my house. I said that can’t be, I didn’t give permission for her to come here. She said she isn’t showing any signs of what you are saying. If a healthcare professional doesn’t know a person with mental problems can act like they don’t need help to con them I don’t know how they are in their field? My daughter her been violent, gotten into wrecks. Been on drugs and alcohol, is bipolar, depressed and I think much more. She was off of her meds but acting fine. When they dropped her off she was saying things immediately. How can they send her home without permission by me? Every other facility has said ok you refuse or ok you will let her come there. If I refused she had to find a place to go. This mental part if this facility needs extensive training. I would give a 0 if I could. I was also told she was being sent home because I missed their call. I was in a Dr appointment. I called back when I got out. No voicemail was left. Great professionalism!

11/27/2024 4.20pm. I would like to give zero. I went there because I felt very bad and I am by myself and my 2 year old daughter. I went with a lot of pain. I pretty sure I got covid and I was waiting there for 1 hour… and the nurse never came back to the room, my daughter was crying like a crazy. The nurse practitioner never showed up there so I left without knowing that I was with cold or Covid. They didn't call me either. Just the Receptionist and security guard were nice with us. I hope never come back there.I will go to other place. That is why there are not good Doctors or nurses anymore. The overe there people don't care about others. If they don't like the job they can go and work in a shipyard, restaurant or cleaning bathrooms. Medical Service is BAD over there. I hope the people stop going there and shut down the place.
