Penn Psychiatric Center – Phoenixville Address, Location and Contact Information
Records give the address as 601 Gay Street, Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, 19460. Chester County covers this area. The catchment reaches beyond the city itself. Public transport, parking and the length of the journey all affect whether someone completes a course of treatment, and they are worth settling before the first appointment rather than after.
A quick call before you go will settle directions, parking and what to expect first time. Where travel is difficult, ask whether an initial appointment can be held remotely. If the first call does not reach anyone, try again at a different time of day rather than assuming the service is closed.

Penn Psychiatric Center – Phoenixville Reviews and Ratings
Referring professionals and healthcare workers who have worked with Penn Psychiatric Center can leave a review in this section, as can patients and their loved ones. Accounts of how referrals and handovers were handled are especially useful.
I started at this place almost 6 months ago it takes legit years to get them to call you back or answer back your calls. I’ve left several voicemails to no response. They have left me to basically die because I can not… make an appointment to refill my medication. I’m on klonopin and the withdrawal symptoms are deadly. They do not get back to you. If I die due to this withdrawal I’ll be suing.
If you care about your or your loved one's mental health, go somewhere else, because they do not. They don't answer the phone, so making or changing an appointment is incredibly difficult. And once you do actually get… an appointment, they'll either cancel it without options or just not show up, again with no option to get important meds filled. They are consistently irresponsible with their patients.
God forbid you need to get ahold of anyone at this office nobody ever picks up the damn phone
I like Penn psy. The desk lady is nice and Katie andother women. And Andrew my therapist. Is very good therapist. I do recommend him. Andrew is very honest and helps me to recovery from mental health issues and very… good therapist. And Lisa is very good med check doctor. I saw Lisa for 7 years. And Penn psy is a great place. And has glbtq support group therapy and not good parking though. And u can walk to Dunkin donuts for drink and snack. And the phoenixville hospital is right there. And they help me a lot.
This practice is awful. Sough help for my daughter and the Dr she saw was short upped her medication without giving a reason and refused to speak with me about daughters care even through all forms were filled out.… Switched to Alpine where her new Dr is amazing and wants to help her not just collect a paycheck. DO BETTER PENN.
The administrative staff is abhorrent and have no place in such an important industry. Truly gross.
Abysmal communication skills. I was supposed to be contacted by Penn Psychiatric after a stay in the hospital, but they never reached out. I have called them 10+ times and left messages in the 3 weeks since, and have… never received any sort of response.
Do not use this provider!!! They do not return phone calls if you need to reschedule the don’t call you back they just claim you missed an appointment and will discharge you from the program. You will not have… consistent care if you choose this provider, highly recommend against it. I was with them for years and they attempted to discharge me multiple times on false accusations that I had screen shot proff i attempted to reschedule my last appointment. They didn’t care. And because they failed to call in a pre authorization on my medication I had to go 2 weeks without meds. Very dangerous and negligent practice.
No one answers the phones or calls you back after leaving a message or an email. Zero communication.
My son and I are very happy with the service we receive a Penn Psych. I only wish they could do more of the administrative meeting via Zoom as we live over an hour away.
Customer service is absolutely terrible.
Less than 1 star would really be more correct. Run far away...for your own safety and mental health do not. I have multiple issues. Recently however I was hospitalized due to medication complications. I immediately… called to set up an appt due to the meds being stopped cold turkey by the hospital. They sched me an appt 2 weeks out! Ive sat in withdraw for 2 weeks and today some computer issue or what they blamed on me happened and I am left with another 2 week wait. I paid out of pocket for my visit yesterday, did the online check in this am, and the signature for the tele. They stated no signature. Okay fine. Help me reschedule. I had sat on zoom for 20 minutes at this point assuming they were behind. They had canceled my appt. No notice because of said missed signature. Okay. You took my money over the phone with me last night and I checked in! New they're taking $50 of my appointment fee to send a bridge script. Okay....but this med has not worked and is making me ill. I was bawling on the phone. The cold office staff has no compassion whatsoever. Now theyre sending in a medicine that isnt helping and im stuck waiting another 2 weeks for help. This place needs to be shut down.
I have been a client of Penn Psychiatric in Phoenixville for 4 years. Lisa, Chris, Frank, and Jenn are my support team. I had been getting help from practice. Then I had an accident that a traumatic brain injury. This… caused a severe disruption, and decline in all the mental health progress I have made. Lisa and Frank remained supportive are dedicated to helping restore my mental health. Chris the director, bless his soul, has been fundamental God send in helping me regain my recovery. After my accident, Chris and Frank encouraged me to add a peer specialist to my care team. This is what turn out to be a crucial role in my physical and mental health recovery. Jenn my peer specialist has helped me in so many ways. She has help me advocate for myself. She supported me and made me feel validated a heard regardless of what was going on. Giving me the hope, strength, and encouragement to keep going, when l have all but given up. Having someone between my weekly therapy appts, and monthly medication appts has help me in my recovery from the accident. I am so grateful for my support. Everyone at Penn Psych has been so wonderful. Front desk staff is so nice. Always enjoy going in person. I highly recommend this practice. I will never leave. Best team ever! I would not be where I am today if it wasn't for everything they have done to help me.
Oh boy, where do I start? Okay, I'll first say that the individuals working the front desk are always kind and that makes me feel welcomed to come here. However, as stated with previous reviews, the phone service is not… as credible as the kindness of the front desk. I feel as though I've left more voicemails than made actual calls. While this place isn't the best, it isn't the absolute worst because I've acknowledged a chunk of boost in my mental healing, but at times I feel that having the phone answered when I call is a far reach. Edit (November 28th, 2025): I do believe I was being rather generous at the time of this review. At the moment, I feel as though it has made me considerably more worse than good In comparison to how I was at the time of writing my initial review above. 1) The phone issue is absolutely unacceptably horrendous to the absolute degree my voicemails rarely get returned—but when they do, I am at school and I have STRICTLY told them to not call me DURING school hours (in which I have shared such hours)—so it appears following directions is a weak spot at this place. However, I do in fact recognize I missed voicemails from time to time in the past, but I made sure to call back, just to be left on voicemail with a slim chance of getting a response. And as of right now, I have told them to phone my father in order to handle these ordeals, but you guessed it! Nada! 2) On the topic of voicemails, I have had many ranges suspending from one emotion to the other when it comes down to the many voicemails I've sent. From expressing a need to reschedule an appointment and then to a more common one regarding making a medication appointment, it once again appears the severity has no matter in determining when or if your call with ever be returned in proper time. While this could be a personal matter, it's simply not. Many under this tab of reviews appears to be experiencing the same hardships of getting even a single ounce of pick-up when phoning this establishment. A true shame, yeah? And while it could be told to an individual in I and many other's situations to just simply drive over and make an appointment in-person, many are unavailable to do so for either transportation purposes or personal reasons. So, therefore, phoning is a highly preferred medium. I really wish I had more positives than negatives for this place, but at the end of the day, it is strictly up to the establishment themselves to carefully and considerately read their reviews and perhaps take time to actually reply in a non AI and copy-and-paste manner! We will surely get through this together, y'all! Take care!
Nothing to add to all the other one star reviews RUN FAR AND FAST
Have been trying to reach them for weeks no one answers the phone or respond to voicemail
Irresponsible. This is our second bad experience here. First, my minor son tells the psychiatrist he no longer wants to be on medication and she just stops the meds, cold turkey. I'm a pharmacist, so I'm aware that… weaning off is the better plan. Then my daughter runs out of meds (yes, her fault) and they won't even call in a 3 day supply to get her through the weekend to her next appointment? We have never asked for this before, so its not like we are in the habit of running out or cancelling appointments. Stopping meds cold turkey is not safe. On so many levels.
unreliable
This place is a joke, they have screwed my daughter over twice now on med checks. Highly recommend anyone who needs mental health to go to another place cause Penn psych is horrible..
What started out as a great experience through my ADHD diagnosis has turned into an absolute nightmare. I have been with Penn Psychiatric for over a year and a half and have decided to switch to a new provider. Every… time you try to call the office, whether it's the medication line, the business line, or the appointment line, no one answers and you're forced to leave a voicemail and even then they never call you back. Which makes getting what you need really hard, especially when you run out of medication and your prescription was never sent to the pharmacy. I ended up having to message my psych nurse directly and it was fixed that day, however I was then billed a $50 fee, broken up into 2 $25 payments over a week apart which feels really shady to me. The invoice on the patient portal labeled it as a missed appointment fee. I had no appointment that I missed. I was then told it was a bridge fee since I needed more medication before my next appointment, but even if that was the case, it should have been waived because the prescription was supposed to have already been sent to the pharmacy the month prior. I finally got my $50 refunded only to then be charged AGAIN today for the same day as the initial charge. I am beyond frustrated with this practice. I am already suffering from anxiety and ADHD related depression, so having the one place that was supposed to be helping me with my mental health has only made it worse.
I used to love this place for their comprehensive DBT program, but since graduating that program, they have been terrible with my med management, and now I can’t get through to anyone in order to actually get my… medication and am now struggling severely
It's virtually impossible to reach anyone directly via telephone. This can be very frustrating.
I sat on a zoom the entire time and was 5 minutes early thinking everything was fine, host wouldnt let me in. I couldn't reach anyone in the office, I had no way to contact the person. I tried to access from my phone,… personal computer and even work computer. This was for med check. Nothing I could do but cry.
NP Lisa is the best! I feel very confident in my treatment team and plan.
They charge you $400 out-of-pocket for an initial consultation which is utterly ridiculous. Took me maybe half an hour to find a psychiatrist online for four times less than that amount. Not to mention the completely… unprofessional way they responded to a recent 1-star review.
Excellent!! Amazing physicians, providers and staff. Would highly recommend.
Provides awesome services- medication, therapy, and groups. Everyone is so dedicated!! Great docs!!
