My experience with Relevance Recovery was awful. The advertising and information I received before arriving were completely false. What they sell you over the phone is not what you actually walk into. From the moment I… got there, the staff were cold and standoffish. It was obvious that many of them have little real understanding of the field or the people they’re supposed to be helping. The intake process was rushed and unprofessional you do a quick intake and then you’re immediately thrown into group while they run your insurance. There’s no real explanation of the program, no orientation, and no effort to make you feel comfortable. The living conditions were also unacceptable. The photos they sent me beforehand must have been taken years ago because the reality was completely different. The house was run down and smelled strongly like dog urine. What really shocked me was the behavior of some staff members. One employee openly talked about using drugs and how things were “better when you’re using.” Think about that for a second — this is supposed to be a recovery program where people come for help. It also became very clear that the priority here seems to be maximizing insurance billing and profit rather than providing actual treatment or care. Patients are rushed into groups immediately while insurance is being processed, with little concern for orientation, support, or the quality of care being provided. The final straw came during a clinical group when a staff member aggressively told me to “give her my phone now.” It wasn’t a request — it was a demand, delivered with a completely disrespectful tone. When I decided I had enough and wanted to leave, they threatened to call the police if I didn’t leave the premises while at the same time refusing to give me my belongings. Completely unprofessional. Places like this take advantage of people who are vulnerable and genuinely looking for help. I would not recommend Relevance Recovery to anyone. Do your research before trusting this place.

It took me a long time to write this review. While I am now 5 years clean, I unfortunately did not get clean at Relevance during my 2 week stay in 2020. During my time, there were so many situations handled… irresponsibly. We had access to a safe and our own meds, and my roommate was given a prescription for Percocet from the APN that all the staff and clients knew about. While it’s none of my business why she was prescribed it, the fact that my drug of choice was inches away from me and I had to see my roommate pop one every 4 hours is beyond me at a Drug Addiction rehab. At the very least staff should have been administering that to my roommate in private. Meanwhile they refused to continue treating my Adhd, even with NON-STIMULANT options. I was feeling very unheard and misunderstood. Anyway, it was all too much to bear so one day I left property without permission and walked to a nearby park. I was gone 90 minutes maximum, and simply sat at the park crying. When I walked back to the sober living, I expected there to be a punishment, don’t get me wrong, but they straight kicked me out. I even offered to drug test (I did not use) but they said I had to leave immediately and had to come back to get my belongings on an “approved day.” I knew it was illegal for them to hold my property, especially my medications that I take for chronic health conditions. I called the police and two officers had to explain to them that they either 1) had to let me go inside and get my things or 2) bring my things outside for me. Yes, that’s right, this situation was so ridiculous I had to call the police ON the people that were supposed to keep me safe. Well, they also claimed not to have my antidepressant and said I lost it, which I knew wasn’t true. I had to cold turkey the medication which was brutal and months later they sent the bottle to me in the mail! To top it off they kept my entire rent which I had paid in full less than 24 hours prior to getting kicked out. I really hope the standard of care has improved here over the last few years, because we alcoholics and addicts deserve to be treated with the compassion and dignity that Relevance denied me.

Relevance has been a huge help for me in my recovery, from individual sessions to group therapy relevance has helped me improve my mental health and recovery from addiction. The staff truly cares about every single… patient and wants to see every one succeed and get better.

While I think the staff members they have working there are absolutely fabulous (therapists, techs), the administrative side really sucks. Their policies are restrictive rather than growth-oriented. Their focus on… mental health in groups is admirable and extremely beneficial. In my experience therapists do their best to advocate for your needs only to be shut down by the "clinical team" during their meetings. The "team" isn't concerned about what's in the client's best interest, but only what serves the company best - maximizing profit. The housing aspect they offer is more like signing yourself up for jail only with better food and beds. Their nurse practitioner is a joke. She doesn't listen to what people are saying - just wants to keep upping your meds as a solution for any problems. I strongly recommend that if you're looking for a GOOD/BENEFICIAL treatment program that you look elsewhere because this place ain't about "you" it's about "them" and there's nothing that the therapists or techs can even do about it. At least you can see that THEY truly care about the individuals there cuz I'm sure they're not there for the pay.

I can to Relevance feeling discouraged and hopeless. Throughout my time here I’ve learned a lot about my self and my ability to overcome. I am so grateful for Relevance! I am actually in a good place in my life. When I… first got here I did not think I could be happy but I am. The staff is great. They truly care about me and my success. I would definitely recommend this program to someone struggling with mental health or addiction.

Despite after reading some negative reviews, both my daughter, Elizabeth, and I cannot say enough about Relavance ! From the first phone call I received from Gina, & completing my intake with Leah Ryan, on 2/10/25, both… my daughter, and I knew, this was the solution for me to get better.❤️‍🩹 From day one, everyone in this facility made me feel welcomed, important, and not to mention , safe enough to open up, share my heartaches, without being judge or embarrassed. I have learned so much about myself, and for the first time, in a very long time, not only am I “Worthy,” but I am “Important,” and I don’t need a supplement of any kind to achieve this. When people say, “First impressions mean the most,” what I experienced on my first day. It made all the difference to my world. I have, and will continue to recommend Relevance House in Freehold New Jersey, to anyone who is seeking help. “I’m not just a spokesperson, I am a client 😜” Did I mention most of the staff got my sense of humor. If your need help this is not the place to go. Staff turnover is over the top. Staff experience is Terrible. They don’t have a psychiatrist. They have a part time APN. They only care until the insurance stops paying.… Seek another place if you value your mental health.

I learned a lot of valuable skills at Relevance. Gracie was a phenomenal counselor who was empathetic with great boundaries. Latifah helped me so much with guidance, med management and life skills. Chelsea was… incredible at teaching and explaining DBT. The only pressing issue I had during treatment was difficulty receiving case management needs. Other than that, I have made immense progress, and it was with the helping hands of relevance. Thank you Relevance team for your patience, dual diagnosis care, and laughter. Empowering experience for sure.

All they care about is money. Then they lie and tell you whatever you want to hear. Save your money and go to a regular therapist. Cheaper and does the same exact "treatment" as this place. This place sucks

This organization did nothing to help my son with a need for Mental support, they where quick to take $2,500 plus insurance for 11 days of group which we clearly asked for Medication management and 1 on 1 consulting in… which Chris Vallecillo (Director) agreed he would do. After my son said he did not feel like he wanted to be alive they quickly sent him to the hospital and said he needs a "higher level of care" which means they do not know how to help him. If you are looking to get Mental help this is NOT the place, maybe for Drug abuse. After calling three times Chris for help on the right place for my son, no answer to date.
