In my past I have been to RV for therapy because I had no insurance and this was the only place I could go to. When I was in CSU I was forceable took against my will to Western State Hospital. Me and my husband went to… a marriage therapist there and the lady therapist was ganging up on me with my husband. I told my husband that was the last time I will ever go to marriage therapy. Also I went on a emergency appointment to see a male therapist and he used to be a person that used to hangout in the Boiler Room and drink alcohol because I remember his face. Sad thing was when I went for the emergency appointment I was crying and he just sat there and looked at me like I was stupid the whole time. I said I would never talk to a male therapist against. I would never want anyone to go through the hell that I went through. It has had a long last affect on me even after many years. And the people that did all these horrible things to me never got reprimanded for their actions and I never got justice for everything I went through. I would NEVER tell someone to go to River Valley to get help at all.
They suck
They mismanage my care for years. They do not ask the right questions. This place should be reformed for sending people with autism to western state hospital.
The facility as a whole and their staff is an absolute joke who could not care less what happens to you or your family in any regard. From the ground up the place needs to have everyone fired and then assessed to see if… they should even be given a place within a medical community again. I would much rather suggest to you to "Tough it out" than to even give these people the light of day. They will give you any medication they can think of even if it has nothing to do with your condition or without thought on the effects it could cause. They absolutely could not care less if they could give you an appointment and if they can find a way to "accidentally" skip an appointment they will. Owensboro as a whole would be much better mentally if this facility was destroyed and a new one was built. No one here deserves a position in the medical field with the absolute lack of empathy or care. Just because this facility won a "best mental health care" in Owensboro doesn't mean ANYTHING when you realize. The only reason they get the award is because they are the only one thats actually known. I highly suggest to anyone to look up counseling and therapy options in Owensboro I promise you will find much better options. Its much more believable that this facility paid for their award than earned it.
This place is horrible people get their hair pulled like me fingers broke ETc and I stayed in a quiet room all day they didn't even get the time like set the timer for impatient this is how it all started and the guy… named Anthony took my food because I was disrespectful that's just neglect and I did not get my fruit cup taken away thank God and my tooth was broken but luckily UK health was able to fix it I really would not have recommend getting help here and I'm probably scared to go back
Refusing medical treatment. Should be sued.. terrible place
Not good for addiction nor adult services ,,, Have hurt more than help everyone I know , and they never hold anyone through their services accountable as to involuntary hospitalizations ,, over prescribing and… misdiagnosis more than 90 percent of their clients.
This place is amazing for people that are willing to put in the effort, time, dedication, and work into themselves to better their mental health. Be honest and vulnerable with your psychologist to get diagnosed… accurately. They only know what they’re told. Work with the staff while being open and receptive to treatment. It’s that simple. I finally got accurately diagnosed, got on personalized medication, talked daily with a therapist so we could talk about strategies to overcome my personal challenges, and I put in the work for myself; this place isn’t a quick solution or a “cure all” by any means, it’s the first step forward you just have to use the opportunity, be consistent with putting effort, love, care, time, and dedication into yourself. BOTTOM LINE: Work With The Staff and Put In The Work to make a better life for yourself. You have to put in the work for you, they can’t fix all of your problems for you: PUT IN THE WORK 💪🏻
Spent 20 minutes on hold for a 2 minute phone call I didn't get to make because someone answered and hung up. Horrible. Just an all around terrible healthcare facility.
I've signed paperwork only to be called a week later and told I never signed it (they lost it) I've been told wrong appointment days where the appointment date was wrong on the paper I was given and then told I missed… an appointment. The doctor I'd been seeing seems like they were being intentionally obtuse and unhelpful. Strongly suggest avoiding this place.
They let my son almost die. His oxygen level got down to 80 and never even called and told me. Then I called to talk to him and they knew he wouldn’t be able to talk on the phone and lied to me about his well being then… decided to call an ambulance after his oxygen level dropped again to 84!!!!! Yall should be embarrassed at how yall treat children in there, you messed with the wrong one!!! Filing for malpractice lawsuit my son is having more asthma issues now more than ever and yall won’t get away with this!!! Tell Polly don’t call my dang phone no more either!!! Yall make me want to puke!!! And don’t send me a dumb reply about writing a consumer report I’ve written 2 of them!!! And I take screenshots every time just in case this place magically can’t find them so try something else. RiverValley Behavioral Health should be held accountable for the actions taken regarding my son. If it was assumed that I would overlook this incident, that assumption was incorrect. This facility is a disappointment and warrants investigation. While not all staff members are incompetent, many are, and numerous individuals in the Owensboro area share this sentiment, expressing concerns that some staff members lack the necessary qualifications to work with children. Allowing a child's oxygen level to drop to 80 without promptly notifying the parent, particularly when I initiated contact to discuss my son's well-being, is unacceptable and warrants termination. I will continue to express my concerns until they are acknowledged, as I am deeply troubled by the potential harm inflicted upon vulnerable children who lack a voice or parental support. The actions of this facility are alarming and distressing.
This facility completely turned my life around in every aspect. I can't say enough about how caring and compassionate certain staff is here. I owe my life to them for saving mine.
Everything was so peaceful that you couldn't help but feel better. Everyone was so friendly. It certainly helped me
Nurses sucked never got to see a real therapist I was there for one week and I came out more depressed then ever the nurses don't like you and will ignore you. You only get one phone call at night at 7 o'clock if you… care for your health never go here.
I live in a small town, so I usually have to drive an hour or more just to go to a doctor's appointment. I made an appointment to get tested for ADHD a month ago and had asked for it specifically to be on today because… I'm off of work. I confirmed this appointment twice and I get up there and the receptionist told me I didn't have an appointment and then said she doesn't have access to the therapists separate appointments and that I wouldn't be seen today. I usually don't complain because stuff happens but it's frustrating that my time and gas money was wasted. Please retrain your receptionist on how to properly make appointments.
Rivervalley Behavioral Health is awesome and wonderful place to go to get help. They helped me when I was there. All the Employees and Managers are very nice and Friendly People who work at Rivervalley Behavioral… Health. They have a wonderful Group Therapy that anyone can go to talk about your problems you are having. This is Group is called Circle Of Hope. Everyone who works at this Group are very wonderful and caring People who cares alot about other People like me who needs their help very much. Thanks you for helping me and other People too.
Can’t even answer the phones, no matter what time of the day. I understand it gets busy but if someone leaves a voicemail not only once but twice you’d think they’d get back with you. They do not! I’d find another… facility to go to. A place where you actually are actually taken serious because it’s obvious they DON’T ☺️
Most of the one star reviews are from kids who were forced to use River Vally’s services. It is a good place and very hospitable.
I'm am very pleased about the professional level of care I have received as a patient and client. Their diagnosis, medication prescribed and the personal time given to me have been 100 % accurate in both the physician… and counseling areas. Dr. Harmon and Harold Holcomb (counselor) have been an extremely positive life saver to me in all areas. 6/14/2017 I am now receiving even more in-depth care as my physician there has changed to Dr. Amy Perry who is very concerned for my physical and mental well-being at all times. All of her patients receive this same high level of truly professional care.
Have had several appointments canceled on me without any phone call or alert. Would show up and desk staff would just say “looks like they cancelled that,” without giving any reason why. Also, very “boxed-in” type of… thinking about mental health. They are just going through the motions I feel like, following a pattern, not really hearing their clients voices, not really healing.
Place should be Shut Down! Switch therapists with any knowledge missed appointments over and over Will not protect your records! Protected the Unprofessional/uneducated Shady attorneys and DROP ME!???? During the… holidays during a funeral and right when all hell breaks loose Crickets! Stop making appointments never heard another word from them Well I bet I will soon! You will be reported to every available agency and every News Channel Newspaper Investigative Reporters Social Media and anyone else who will listen. I’m 13 yrs Sober without RVBH I nearly lost that thanks to you and put me and my family thru this!!!??? Your attorney swore to an oath and should have protected me and reported them! SO ENJOY THE PUBLIC EMBARRASSMENT
Rvbh is a joke. I had an appointment set up on the 22 of November through telehealth and no therapist called, so I tried to call them at 2 which is three hours before they closed one to be on hold for over 20 minutes. I… tried to call them again this morning after they opened at 9 only to be on hold for another to minutes. During that time the phone rang a couple times at different times only to go right back to the hold music proving that the are refusing to answer the phone. I'm trying to get back on the medication and being that this is the only place that accepts my insurance and probably most likely other people's insurance they are screwing people over on getting the help they need.
RCD is a joke. Little to no recovery involved. Pretty much a day care center for adults.
My son was there and the staff that was in the room with him allowed for him to get injured and he had to go to the hospital.
I sent my daughter here with hopes of getting her some help (worst decision i have made regarding her mental health). As soon as she was admitted, before any real therapy or ANYTHING had begun, they had my daughter on… TWO hard medications. ..one of which is known for its sedating effects. I was never informed about her being put on these until she had already been on them several days , and even then i was told the wrong doses and wrong medications SEVERAL times. So, on a monday, they call me for the "family meeting" which consisted of stone cold silence on the phone..until they said "your daughter was exhibiting behavoirs over the weekend. she was over heard talking about "un aliving". So i figured she had at least a few more days treatment.. but NOPE.. she was pushed out the door the very next day. She was released to me very rudely by a nurse who made it quite clear it was not her problem if there was any after care set up..or if her medications would be available. the next few weeks i called the facility EVERY day asking to speak to a patient advocate ( I still havent gotten to) and telling them how unstable she was. Ultimately, the medications she was on drover her to a point that she had to be hospitalized again ( she is still in the hospital now and its been weeks) ...she is showing extreme aggression (which she has NEVER had a problem with and had nothing to do with her admittance) ... the doctors are saying it is the medications she was put on. and that one of the meds should have never even been given to a child ( they wanted to keep her sedated so she wasnt an issue) I may or may not ever get the child back i had before i took her to this facility. they dont care. period. they are gonna take your child, hold them as long as insurance allows (usually 11 days) , drug them as much as they can get away with , and then push them out the door with no after care ( my daughter was never called for her therapy appts after she was released, they were cancelled and we were never notified) . this is just another money maker like addiction or anything else. please consider EVERY alternative before placing your kid in one of these places..especially this one.
Fond of injuring people & dismissive of the needs of people who ask for help. Don't trust them with your doctor visits, and especially don't trust them with your physical safety.
They have been a huge blessing for my son!!
