Besides one lazy counselor... Definitely the best inpatient drug treatment in the area. They let you have your phones from day one, foods great, staff are cool as hell. The ONLY issue is one counselor. If you end up… being the unlucky candidate I get stuck with Murdice Smith, instantly put in a grievance to have a counselor change. She is the laziest counselor on Earth. She tries to avoid responsibility by calling herself strict which is just a justification for her unwilling list to do simple work. All the other counselors are great.

Horrible experience. Clients and staff are fueled by jealousy and hatred. They claim to allow kids but that is a lie. They been lieing since the first time I called, I chose a rbh based on something that allows kids. I… never would've chose the place if I knew they would try to play with me from the beginning. I realize they don't allow kids. They will try to pull one over on you and it seems the best interests are Disregarded. Very upsetting.

Honestly when I first came to Safe Refuge I was just here to make it look good for my parole officer but once I started buying into their system it was a lot of fun but also a very real method of teaching you about… everything from the effects of addiction to real life preparation after the initial 3 months of intense treatment. The curriculum is spot on on all aspects of the sober lifestyle. Staff for the most part is great. Having your phone helps because I've been to other treatment facilities and being phoneless feels like jail. So yes I highly recommend Safe Refuge

If you wish for this to be your last treatment, NO 2 ALCOHOL/ SPIRITS AND ALL DRUGS. For abundance of caution to clients, be mindful that PUNISHMENT STARTS AFTER TREATMENT " FOR TRYING TO GET OVER THE SYSTEM" during the… course of your Alcoholism and or Drug Usage. The welcome to treatment safe refuge papers upon admissions clearly states this. I WOULD RECOMMEND RENTING A BED AT THE SAFE REFUGE APARTMENTS BECAUSE OF THE DELICIOUS to go/ take out restaurant that provides 3 hot meals daily, stay at the Safe Refuge Motels and EAT LIKE A KING.

Good place. Being someone who has been to a handful of places over the years.. the change i needed in my life came while at Safe Refuge. Located in the middle of a mixed enviornment of money/poverty (Long beach aka… strong beach) there are plenty of distractions nearby if you want to fall back into old habits. Those old behaviors probably weren't working very well which led u to safe refuge in the first place. Pros: - genuine staff that care - food switches around and is worthy most of the time - staff available to talk @ anytime - guys/girls mixed up in groups - close to the beach - lucky enough to have phone will you from the very beginning and throughout ur stay (as of 7/14/24) when i was there, pay attention to the printout of scheduling or you will be kicked out if your phone is a distraction more than being used as required for attending groups, DRB... counsoler appointments and the such. Cons: - cliques of people from jail or neighborhoods that want to look down on eachother there - strict housing cleanliness requirements (well not all bad lol) - in an active area of long beach for questionable behaviors - you'll get fat from all the food they give u One of the best ways i heard someone explain the time spent there is, "they'll give you just enough rope to hang yourself with" which is very true, they give you alot of freedom while laying out a structure that makes sure to put soberity first (which is the main reason u are there) and then as for the details of how ur daily life ends up going, that is left up to you. Relationships... family... girlfriends/boyfriends or taking up a new hobby or even working to save up and get yourself out of there and move on to the next stage of things. i could sit here and be super negative about all the pieces of this place that i didnt agree with, or that justified me in using again. but in all reality, that would be my fault and not theirs since it comes down to a choice when you are finally presented with an oppertunity to change and your fate will be influenced in that way depending on your decision. gotta try our best to keep it simple when embracing this change, its too easy for things to become all twsited up. Besides that challenge of coexisting peacefully, i wouldnt wish the wild ride of using to anyone, and Safe Refuge is definitely a solid enviornment to hit the brakes on that lifestyle and crash land at a place that truly wants to help you turn your life back in a positive direction. it wont be exactly easy or comfortable, but from someone who pushed the limits in every way possible, i can tell you that treatment is a positive step in the right direction.. and sticking it through even after multiple failed steps gets you closer to leaving the toxic life of using and probalamatic behaviors in the past and get a 2nd chance at life. "remove drugs from your life before drugs remove you from life"

I just want to say thank you to Safe Refuge for helping me get on my own feet and giving me the tools to stay sober. I'm currently working in treatment in Dana Point, and I'm loving my life today. I have been to… countless treatment places, and I'm a chronic relapser, in and of jails and prison and picked multiple felony charges. I have been sober almost 2 years now and I'm thankful for my life today.

Best Rehabilitation/Drug Program I have been in and gone through. When completing their course, if you need a place after the 90 days. To start getting started. They house you in one of their Soberliving apartments for… a little fee. Bottom line the place is wonderful . #1in my book. I'm try to get into and go through (saf) safe harbor again. Life is Great on the other side of the fence. We just have to live life on it's terms. Working through bad times to get to the good times. That's life.
