About Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center – Lewiston

Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center operates from 415 6th Street in Lewiston. The site sits in Nez Perce County, which shapes which public funding routes apply. Nearby communities include Lapwai and Moscow. Idaho draws people across long distances for treatment, so travel time is worth weighing against waiting time.

Hospital inpatient care is delivered here. Which level fits depends on the assessment rather than on what is available, so the useful first question is what that assessment involves. Care offered spans more than one level, which means someone can move between them without changing provider.

Hospital inpatient care runs to a set weekly schedule, with evenings and weekends spent at home. That suits people holding down work or caring responsibilities, though it asks more of someone managing early recovery alone. Ask what the assessment involves before you commit.

Ask what happens at the end of the program as well as the beginning, since that is where plans usually thin out. Assessment decides the level of care, so ask what that involves and how quickly it can happen. Ask what the assessment involves before you commit.

Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center Address, Location and Contact Information

The address is 415 6th Street, Lewiston, ID 83501, in Nez Perce County. The catchment reaches Lapwai and Moscow. Confirm what a program covers before traveling in, since the level of care listed is not always the level with capacity.

Ask what a first appointment involves and how long the current wait runs before making the trip. Opening hours shift with staffing, and an evening slot one month may not exist the next. Waiting times vary with capacity, so call ahead rather than arriving unannounced.

The ER dr that helped me today, was a disgusting human being. I brought my 1 year old in, for a 102-104 fever that won’t break unless he’s given Tylenol, stuffy nose so bad it’s waking him up in the middle of the night… gasping for air, bright green snot leaking out of his nose. When we got to ER his temp was 97.8 we got put in a room. Finally after an hour I saw a nurse in the hallway, and asked her if the dr even knew we were there. Within 3 minutes of talking to the nurse the “dr” came in and said “did you not read the side of the building when you walked in, this is for emergencies, your son isn’t dying or in need of emergency services”… I’m a mom of 3 my gut told me something was wrong which is why I brought him in. He then stated “The only thing we can do for you is suction his nose which as a mom of 3 you should know how to do that yourself.” I grabbed my children and we left. I understand their are people with emergencies and people with more of an emergency than us. This isn’t the first time we’ve been seen by the dr but I promise you it’s the last. I do not recommend this hospital or ER FOR ANYTHING REGARDING CHILDREN!!!! I’m absolutely irate and disgusted that a dr gets to talk to a concerned mom about her 1 year old like this! Absolutely ridiculous!

Not too pleased with the call button. Four times in two days I needed something and they answered it but shut me off before I can ask my question. Here I am again approximately a year later and in again. Again I can't… say enough about the facility and the team caring for me. I have been admitted to St. Joseph 5 or 6 times over my life time from clear back in 1967. They have always given me the best of care. All of the staff were fantastic. The nurse in the first room and the last room after recovery was especially great. The staff answered all of my concerns and made me comfortable about the procedure.

I would like to thank all of the staff that I encountered today at St. Joseph’s regional Hospital in Lewiston Idaho, Nothing but professional gracious, eager to answer questions And restored my faith and our healthcare… professionals in the small towns and rule North America Often times These small towns are overlooked when it comes to medical care. Again, thank you to all staff encounter today You pretty much made my surgery painless.

Was in for echocardiogram August 4. I am always impressed by the older gentleman that greets out side the door. My wife left me at the rad lab and went over to the library saying she would meet me at the visitor center.… I couldn't find her and asked the greeter if he might know. He DID! He walked down the long haul and found her waiting in the radiation waiting room and they both came walking out. I was relieved and impressed and thanked him. I don't know his name or if he is a volunteer, but he is a true asset due recognition for his diligent work.

My mom recently underwent a major hernia repair, and I want to start by saying her surgeon was outstanding. This review is specifically about the nursing care she received during her hospital stay. On the day of her… surgery, after she was settled into her room, it became increasingly hot. We later learned the air conditioning had gone out. I understand that equipment failures happen and that the nurses had no control over that. What was disappointing was their response when I asked if my mom could have a fan. I was told there weren't enough batteries for all the fans, while three nurses at the desk were using those same fans to cool themselves. As I left to buy one from Walmart, my boyfriend stayed behind and spoke with the staff. Only after he confronted them did they provide one of those fans to my mother, who had just undergone major surgery. The problems didn't end there. On the day she was discharged, we got all the way home, and as we were helping her out of the car, we noticed they had forgotten to remove her IV. We had to drive all the way back to the hospital, where they removed it in the parking lot while she was still sitting in the car. Unfortunately, this wasn't our first experience with serious concerns about her care. During a previous major surgery last year, she was given the incorrect dosage of one of her heart medications, which caused her to go into atrial fibrillation (AFib). While mistakes can happen, incidents like that make it difficult to fully trust that every detail of a patient's care is being handled appropriately. It shouldn't be necessary to stay by a loved one's side every minute just to make sure they're receiving basic care. I shouldn't have to worry about whether my mother is overheating, receiving the correct medications, or being discharged properly after surgery. Yet after these experiences, that's exactly how it feels. It's heartbreaking to see what feels like a decline in the level of patient care. A hospital should be a place where people are treated with compassion during some of the most painful and vulnerable moments of their lives. Nurses play a critical role in providing that comfort, attention to detail, and patient safety. Unfortunately, that was not our experience.

Was supposed to have had a mammogram three years ago because I did not get the reminder letter. I don’t know if it got lost in the mail or what happened. I did not remember and this was having some pain in one of my… breast so I called to see when my last one was and the lady was very rude and said well we sent a reminder letter so if you have problems, that’s your problem not always do I remember when the next year’s appointments are so it would be nice to have some sort of text reminder or a follow up call to say hey it’s been a year. Do you want to reschedule those kind of things?

I feel very fortunate to have received such attentive and competent care recently at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center. All Emergency Room staff was outstanding. As a resident of New York visiting friends in Idaho, a… late night visit to an ER to rule out a lower leg blood clot was not on the itinerary. Fortunately, it was a much less serious diagnosis; condition resolved quickly, and I went on to have a wonderful vacation in this beautiful state. I am most grateful to the kind and capable staff of St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center Emergency Room for their efficient and compassionate care.

My biggest complaint with St. Joe's is that I am having appointments in various departments nearly every week and continually asked about what meds I take, time and time again, when the records are in your computers in… multiple locations. A simple question asking if any changes in medication have taken place should be adequate. Also, the "My Chart" site that St. Joe uses is extremely confusing and nearly undecipherable to a lay person when trying to get test results. Don Alexander

I lost consciousness while riding my bike on Jan 13th. Since then my life has been one supervised by one branch or another of St. Joe's. My primary physician is leaving this practice, yet he and his staff have responded… helpfully at each call even though I'm moving to a primary care provider closer to where I live. I've seen the orthopedist, the oncologist, the wound care, and the ER department. My recovery included spending time in a rehab facility owned by St. Joe's. I've had EKGs, CTs, ultrasound. I wore a heart monitor for a time. And an MRI is in my future. Maybe several. St. Joe's staff works with outside facilities in Spokane where I surrendered a cancer laden kidney discovered because of the fall but not caused by the fall. That coordination means the follow up exams required can and will be handled at St. Joe'es. In every instance I found everyone cheerful, pleasant and helpful. I wish I hadn't had the chance to meet these people. Oh, well.

My husband was experiencing chest tightness, dizziness and low blood pressure. He is a cardiac patient. We were ushered in immediately and his vitals were taken, including an EKG and bloodwork after the doctor came by.… Then things went downhill. We were in the ER for over 4 hours with little or no contact from anyone. He was asked if he wanted a blanket to cover his bare chest, but none ever arrived. His bloodwork showed dehydration so a fluid bag was attached about 2 hours in. It ran quickly, but when it ran dry no one ever checked again. When the doctor reappeared 4 hours later, he was given good response to what was happening and told to followup with his primary.
