Southwestern Behav Healthcare Inc – Evansville (19 East Chandler Avenue) Address, Location and Contact Information
The facility address is 19 East Chandler Avenue, Evansville, Indiana, 47713. The city lies within Vanderburgh County. People travel in from the surrounding area, and confirming the route beforehand saves difficulty. How someone gets there matters more than it sounds: travel is one of the commonest reasons a course of treatment stops partway.
It is worth calling first to confirm access, parking and the shape of a first visit. Remote appointments may be possible where travel is a barrier. Reception hours vary, so a call that goes unanswered once is worth repeating rather than treating as a dead end.

Several accounts that describe the same thing tell you more than a single strong opinion.
No help at all.
Southwestern Behavioral is a tremendous resource for the Evansville community. The team is welcoming, professional, and genuinely committed to helping people. From Linda at the front desk to Dr. Wyeth Hatfield, every… interaction reflects kindness, respect, and a strong desire to support those they serve. Organizations like this make a real difference in the community, and I would confidently recommend their services to anyone seeking thoughtful and compassionate support.
Have had 3 separate 0 star interactions with their employees. Two of their male staff called me names ( the dr diagnosed me w DID and they kept snickering at me I was a fake claimer...which didnt even make sense to me… at the time bc i didnt know what DID was),a girl didn't let me wash my hands when the sink to my room was broken and snirked at me like she was enjoying her power trip to not let me use a sink w soap(next day i was offered hand sanitizer once in replacement..they had sinks they just were having fun), and Rose literally hissed arent you glad you chose this unit when she woke me my first morning there. They try to rage bait you and treat you inhumane. I will never let my family go here for any reason. Plus they lied and told me my medical card was active when it wasn't so I was billed for being treated that way. They drug u w meds that make u feel like death and laugh at your pain. Highly don't recommend for anyone who has any mental or behavioral health concerns.
Edit: Just got a letter in my mail, they are billing me 100 dollars for running my insurance to tell me they are so understaffed they are unable to treat me within a year. Avoid if at all possible. I'm sure the… practitioners here are good and decent people but these Southwestern Facilities themselves are straight up designed to bill your insurance as much as possible before you are given any help. One specialist will refer you to another, and then this specialist will refer you to another, and then this specialist will refer you to another and FINALLY, in several months you can begin your treatment. Thank God there's not a mental health crisis in America right now! Again, the people who work here are lovely and I'm sure their hands are tied in making these kinds of decisions. These facilities are not. Avoid if you have any urgent mental health issues.
Elizabeth A. is wonderful! Very knowledgeable & relatable. She takes good care of the company & her clients.
My experiences in the Spear building have always been good. Linda T always greets me with a smile and kindness. Julie V. is a wonderful prescriber. She's very attentive to my whole body and life, not just my mental… health. Dana the nurse is always kind and helpful. I've been a client there since 2012 and I don't want to get my care from anyone else.
Doing the hard work in therapy is the key. I've been through physical and mental therapy, and likewise with both, you get out what you put in. Whether it's psych, therapy, group sessions, a skills coach...as much as you… can engage in, dig deep and show up. My road has been rough and the journey isn't over, and it feels good to have a team under one roof, along with a group of peers I see every week whom can actually empathize with me, because they're going it through it too. It's a place with real people. Have I had an occasional communication/scheduling blip? Yes, but it's extremely rare. And the environment is appropriate for what the setting is, which I appreciate. The support staff is friendly and helpful. The practioners that have helped me, including Wyeth, Julie, Lacy, and Alicia, along with the peer group, have been great. I highly recommend their services.
I LOVE my therapist and the groups I attend..and my doctor K.R. Southwestern has saved my life in many ways and I personally don’t know what I would do without the care I receive. Very thankful. Very satisfied.
This place needs to be investigated by whoever investigates practices. The place used to be great with the old administrator but when they retired, so did the greatness. This place gaslights you, makes you wait hours… past your scheduled appointment time sitting in the waiting room, and gives you the wrong or weak meds for your diagnosis. They'll set you up with a ride to get you to your appointments, but the driver never shows up and you're forced to reschedule. And don't get me started on the drug delivery from their in-house pharmacy. The pharmacy will say they "attempted" to make the delivery even if you are sitting at your door waiting for the driver, they never come and you have to get it yourself anyways. Like I said, the place used to be great but has obviously fallen on hard times. If there is ever a class action brought up on this organization, count me in. Respond to that, respond bot. .01 stars you don't deserve a full star.
Thus far the only thing I have negative is scheduling an appt 6mos in future and no follow up reminder but I'm also a responsible adult so it's on me to remember. Just be nice so i didnt get 20.00 charges when i do… forget. Other than that it's been great.
I went here as a child and when I found out that my old psychiatrist is still employed with them I felt the need to write this review. Do not trust this place with your children. At least from personal experience with… Tina Evan Robinson. She changed my medication every month put me on medication that increased other problems put me on medication that could kill me and never seem to care. Never bother to notice that I have autism nor to diagnose me instead she chose to use me as a guinea pig which she admitted to when I was 17 and my mother could no longer enter the building due to health problems. I would never trust this place with any child. Not as long as she is employed or people like her. The minute I turned 18 I dropped all medication went through 6 months withdrawals and have been perfectly fine since. No problems other than what is related to my autism. She will hurt your children if she has not changed her behavior since then. I hope that she has changed but watch her and listen to your kids
I scheduled an appointment with Southwest FOUR months ago and was told that Nov. 15 was the earliest that they could get me in for an assessment for a therapist. I called a month ago to see if they had any earlier times… and to confirm my original appointment. It was for Nov 15. I went in today and they told me it was last Monday and a virtual appointment. They never reached out to me to tell me the appointment was changed and refused to reschedule me, saying they would call me to reschedule. I am sickened by this and will be finding somewhere else to receive help.
I started going to therapy here as a way to help me deal with issues regarding our adopted daughter. It has helped me to deal with my own anxiety and also learn how to better advocate for my daughter. I have been… attending regular, talk therapy. Upon the advice of my therapist I have also started EMDR therapy. I am very thankful for their services!
Terrible experience. They don't care about you and it shows. If the therapist doesn't like you for whatever reason they will kick you to the curb and toss your "case" out and leave you with no direction. Considering… that they are the only ones who take my insurance.. I went in with high hopes of finally getting better. Only to be let down.
Had to put one star because it made me. No thumbs down button. If you go in mental, you'll become more mental...
Place is a joke. I called a week ago to get my Daughter into some counseling, I was told they would call me back! THEY NEVER CALLED ME! So I will go else where. Since they don't seem to take getting help serious!
Do not use this place if you’re suffering from mental health troubles. Not only were they unhelpful with my problems, but the billing process that’s followed afterwards has been one headache on top of another. I went… here because I heard they have a sliding payment scale for us lower income folks. So I was confused when I kept getting bills in the mail for services I’d already been told I’d paid for. I’ve spoken to numerous people over the phone, I’ve been down in person twice to square this away, I’ve been told several times everything has been taken care of, to then receive a new bill a month later. My latest headache comes from what I’m being told was a “clerical error” caught seven months after the fact, and billed to me right at the peak of a pandemic. If there was every a case of not helping but actually exacerbating the problem, Southwest would be it. One star is too many. Find a more honest and professional place for your mental health. You owe it to yourself.
One of the best places for mental health care services.
My old therapist disclosed personal information to outside parties with out my permission.
They will not help you here. If you are a patient as I was for 8 years and miss an appointment, they will drop your "case" and act like you've never been there before. I was diagnosed and on a very small amount of… Zyprexa for 8 years and now they act like I don't need it anymore I guess. I made an appointment to be seen again and get back on my medicine (had only been off of it for a about a week) and was told that they could not help me, if I was just there to get my medicine, which is what I had been doing for the past 8 years. I did not do the therapy, just met with the psychiatrist every 6 months and got a 6 month supply of my medicine. They will kick you to the curb and leave you with no way of continued treatment. I am so scared that I will have an 'episode' some day and don't know what to do. I have called several times but no help. I was told it would be at least 3 months till I could even see someone that might give me my medicine again. Now I have to start all over like I've never even been there before. Needless to say I will be going somewhere else. Way to go Southwestern, after 8 years of loyalty it seems like you would have more respect for your patients.
I wouldn't be where I am without them
