Staff were very caring and helpful during my stay, and gave me so many resources for my mental health. 10/10
The staff, beginning in admissions to the staff that worked with my daughter daily were exceptional. The communication was amazing. I didn’t mind driving almost 3 hours to and from the facility to visit my daughter… weekly. I truly appreciate the care, compassion, and empathy they showed her because it was really hard to leave my kid there for 2 months, but I knew it was best. I would like to personally thank Jill (admissions), the staff on Unit 4 especially Ari, Bettina, Kristin, and her therapist, Shelby. Continue to let your lights shine through the darkness. I will never forget the role each of you played in helping my daughter through this rough patch. May God bless each of you!
Best place for mental health treatment
Lots of great staff and very understanding
Springwoods was a very good experience for me. Brooke Butler was amazing! Molly the nurse was very professional and the staff was great!
Have gone twice. First time amazing. This second time could not have been more chaotic. Moving units multiple times, being threatened, the staff is hit or miss and they gave my clothes to the wrong person after they… left. They did fet my stuff back but definitely needs to do some serious work. Nervous if I ever need to go a 3rd time
The staff there are so nice and supportive and in addition treat everyone with respect and take each persons triggers and need into careful consideration. The most peaceful environment possible was a blessing. I would… recommend Springwoods to anyone going through a mental health crisis.
There are some places that truly change the course of your life, and this is one of them. It’s been several years since I was a patient here, but I’ve always wanted to come back and say thank you. The care, compassion,… and support I received during one of the darkest times in my life quite literally saved my life. The staff treated me with kindness, dignity, and genuine empathy when I needed it most. Depression recovery isn’t a straight line, but the foundation they helped me build gave me the chance to keep moving forward. Looking back now, I can honestly say I wouldn’t be where I am today without the people who believed in me when I couldn’t believe in myself. If you’re reading reviews because you or someone you love needs help, please know that reaching out is worth it. I’ll always be grateful for the incredible team here and everything they did for me. Thank you for giving me a second chance at life.
The Doctor and staff were professional and helpful.
Avoid psychiatric medication as much as possible. It does far more harm than good. Instead, do your best to find safety from your abusers/parents (if you're ending up in a place like this you were abused at one point),… allow yourself to cry frequently, feel all of your feelings/emotions, allow yourself to feel bad, and ultimately give yourself permission to start living the life you truly truly want to live. None of this advice was given to me at Springwoods. It was just sitting, watching TV, and then sitting around a table, while doing coloring books, talking about things that trigger you and basic lessons like thinking before you speak. Nothing that is actually going to get you on the path to resolving deep trauma. The way to do that is from the advice I listed earlier. I am still recovering years later from the side effects of psychiatric medication. Some of which were prescribed here. Springwoods did nothing except have me sit around and then put me on SSRIs. I had to lie and say I was feeling better so they would let me leave. If you go inpatient like I did, you're possibly going to be surrounded by people who have problems far worse than just anxiety or depression. I'm talking people screaming and running from nurses because they're in psychosis. You might end up more traumatized than when you came in. --- Psychiatry is still built on the archaic belief that emotional illnesses (depression, anxiety, ADHD, etc) should be treated like a physical illness (influenza, typhoid, COVID-19, etc). In reality, if given the time, space, and permission, the human body is perfectly capable of healing itself from emotional trauma. The only way people have emotional illnesses is because they were never allowed to let the body resolve the emotional trauma. This is because they grew up or reside in an emotionally unsafe household. Usually healing emotional trauma would be done via crying, releasing anger, resting, standing up for yourself, etc. But lots of abusive/neglectful parents refuse to allow their children to do these things, thus the children develop emotional illnesses. Taking medication which alters your brain chemistry and alters your emotions/feelings is not a real solution for the same reason that street drugs aren't a solution. Psych meds are similar to street drugs, just with less extreme immediate effects, but not necessarily less long-term damage. Plus, many street drugs started out as psychiatric medication...so that should tell you something. --- The outpatient services here aren't any better. My class was led a guy who took a smoke break every 60 minutes, so I was pretty doubtful of the efficacy of anything he was teaching us, since it evidently wasn't doing anything for his anxiety issues. In the outpatient group classes, all that was covered was the kind of emotional lessons you learn in elementary school. Take a deep breath when you get angry, do hobbies you enjoy if you feel stressed, listen to relaxing music, etc. Again, none of this is going to actually resolve any trauma that ends you up in a place like Springwoods. You have to actually dive deep into the feelings, feel them, and directly address uncomfortable memories. Anything else is just a temporary, band-aid fix. --- For the love of God please do not blindly trust any doctor/psychiatrist. They have no idea how you are actually feeling and, when it comes to psychiatrists, they have no idea how psych medication will interact with your body or other medications. They are literally just guessing. Psychiatry is almost entirely trial-and-error guesswork with you being duped into being the guinea pig for their testing. If you think I'm being dramatic, you're underestimating how severe the side effects can be when you start playing with the chemicals in the brain and emotions in the body. There is no guarantee you will ever be the same again (ask me how I know). Oh and don't expect them to fully warn you of the side effects of the psych medication(s) (like side effects including becoming MORE suicidal and anxious).
My visit was so much more than I expected: the staff each shift were amazing and very compàsionate and I really needed that. My room was comfortable and I was provided everything I needed in a safe manner.i would… recommend it to everyone .also the food was really good and I was provided a diabetic diet that was great.
it was okay down here, ive never been to any other one so i know this definitely a lot better than other ones from what i’ve heard but two staff where very rude for no reason and there was a girl who was obviously… agitated and there were times before this where she had exploded bc yk obviously we all need help down here but she was talking abt wanting to go home since she had stayed over time and a staff member started kinda screaming at her and so the girl raised her voice and started to ask the staff if she wanted to fight and more and the staff member immediately tried to pipe down and half ass handle the situation but the girl saw thru it and was still agitated but if that staff member never raised her voice in the first place then it wouldnt have started it in the end. everything else was nice tho, the food, there is soda and other breakfast juice beverages, u go outside every now and then. but u constantly have groups so its annoying. i couldnt even finish any of my papers for welcome and also have time to watch tv or do things 😭 like every 30-40 mins theres a new group and its so annoying. not only that but the therapist or doctor, whoever it is would basically just say “sure” or “yea” anytime u would open up and say things. they do diagnose u but only to things that brought u there in the first place and even then u dont figure out whats fully wrong with u. they dont talk to u abt ur underlying issues rlly, they only ask what was the reason u came in nd stuff 😭😭
Really nice people.
I was a patient there and it was amazing all the techs where so kind and it changed me a lot
Having spent time at a few different facilities this is really the only place that listened and made me feel normal.
Refused to take a patient. Berated the referring physician on the phone. Threatened them with reporting them to medical board if they brought patient. This is after one of the staff told the physician how to get patient… admitted. So unprofessional and rude
Doctors and nursing are excellent. Front desk girl is rude and disrespectful. Shame.
The charge nurse Molly and her team made my stay more tolerable they were very friendly, informative and helped answer any questions I had
I was a patient here when I was 15. My experience here changed me and showed me that life is so much more than just having your mind consumed by thoughts. this place has amazing staff with the most calming tones and the… kindest care, providing optional snacks and music if asked. I would admit myself again anytime I feel an episode happening, I would feel safe and comfortable. They do try to put you on a medication for some reason every time you go but if you say you are better without and can prove that then i’m sure they wouldn’t force anything on you. They focus on helping troubled people adjust to everyday life!
I was fortunate enough to be admitted to Springwoods for a detox several years ago. It ended up being the initial catalyst that changed my path in life for the better, which continues to this day. The staff I… encountered there were helpful and caring. If you're out there struggling, or have a family member that needs the services they provide, this is a great place to begin.
I want to say right off the back, the nurses and the staff kept everything very secure. They get five stars as far as the nurse is in her unit, and the therapist, he was amazing. Jeff shouted out to you five stars. You… were very respectful, very helpful and very considerate you acknowledge the broken system. But the reason that this overall is getting a one star and I would give zero stars if I could is because of Dr. MacDonald. My daughter is out of control. He has no idea how she acts. How demanding she is how disrespectful and hateful. She’s always been from day one since I’ve had her. I’ve tried to pour love. God respect where her self-esteem comes from. Try to teach her from right wrong and it is almost done. No good. Now granted, She is dealing with the death Of a loved one, and that has been difficult on all of us, but she acts like she has a free pass to wreck our whole entire life because it’s happened. I spoke in a normal town to Dr. McDonald and write off the bat. He already was being disrespectful talking down to me and told me well. She’s coming home because she’s all right. There’s nothing wrong with her and I’m like OK. I’m glad you made that assessment so quickly because it’s only been Not even two full days. I remain respectful, tried to give him the full extent because right off the bat he called me an abuser on the phone. He implied it. He claimed the reason she was staying there is because I was abusive, and my husband has been verbally and emotionally abusive, but my daughter lied and said that he’s been physically abusive and he hasn’t been. He has taken ownership for that and he’s working through his own issues. However, when I just simply started crying because I am afraid of my daughter and I’m past my wits end, I can’t even take a shower because I have to keep a watch on her every single moment of the day she’ll get a phone she’ll sneak a boy into the house she’ll try to hurt herself. She will do something insane it doesn’t matter. I cannot even take care of myself. That’s how bad it’s gotten. When I started crying, just sobbing on the phone not hysterically not screaming. He was like oh my gosh unbelievable OK count back from 10 and all I said was oh my gosh are you kidding me? I said I’m very upset because I’m hurt right now. At no point did I raise my voice, yell, act inappropriate cuss at him or anything through the crying all I said was this. Please stop, I’m hurting and he said oh my God!! I’m not talking to you(in the cruelest voice he could use) and click he hung up the phone. When I tell you unprofessional, completely inappropriate, I’m in a situation. I don’t wanna be in because of how my husband has behaved and how my daughter has behaved and I’m stuck in the middle of it and I can’t live like this anymore. Apparently there’s no compassion for anyone but children nowadays adults can just die, I guess. The most hurtful and very shortsighted thing that Doctor said to me was that I was abusing my child when I know for a fact, how hard I’ve worked on myself as a person, as a parent I’ve been in recovery for over 14 years and long time ago, did I learn how to take care of my own stuff and take ownership for it and be a good person and not abuse people so when I know how much I’ve gone above and beyond for my own daughter put her in therapy given up college just so I could take good care of her giving up so many things poured into her nature she never went without. It is the most heartbreaking thing you can hear someone accuse you of in a very disrespectful hateful town that you’re abusing her and that’s why she was taking here…UNACCEPTABLE.
I got admitted like a month or 2 ago? It’s not very professional at best.. SOME of the staff were kind of rude and whenever a situation would occur they would do nothing about it. Most of the time we didn’t do anything… to help us patients heal. The staff would constantly misgender the trans folks there, which I’m not transgender myself but it’s kind of stupid because I would’ve liked to think that this was an LGBT friendly place?? (it’s a psych ward..). Sometimes the patients would sleep under the sink or go places they shouldn’t and they would do nothing about it. Also, in the guidebook it talked about the facility being able to bring in schoolwork from out actual school but that never came about (I’m guessing it’s probably for long-term) And for some reason they changed the schedule of my medication for absolutely no reason which I thought was pretty stupid.
My child was here on unit 2 and everyone involved with her care was very kind and kept in touch with me every step of the way. From the doctor to the therapist and nurses, everyone was great. Thank you so much!
Honestly, everywhere else sucks, I feel more at home with springwoods. They give you the option to say no to meds, most of the staff are VERY sweet, I've been 10 times, but hear me out, it was because of stuff at home.… They helped me every time. I felt treated like family, REALLY GOOD FOOD BTW, (I personally loved it), I love that one front office lady, she's so funny, I remember I just came in from the ambulance and she made some personal jokes with me. Most of the kids were chill. Not as many fights (one unit had a lot tho) 😭✌️. Overall, great, only go if you feel like it's right for u (expensive though)..
This was one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had seeking care. There was no doctor available on Fridays, which meant I wasn’t even allowed to check out when I wanted to. Even more concerning, I didn’t see a doctor at… all over the weekend. Instead of receiving meaningful care, much of the time was spent doing things like arts and crafts, while other patients around me were clearly in severe distress and not getting the level of help they needed. It felt incredibly disorganized and concerning. To make matters worse, I received a bill of $13,000 for just 4 days—which is shocking considering the lack of actual medical attention provided. Overall, this experience felt far more focused on billing than patient care. I would strongly encourage others to look elsewhere if you’re truly seeking help.
They actually care...
wonderful place to be when you’re not well.
