Suncoast Center Inc – Saint Petersburg (1001 16th Street South) Address, Location and Contact Information

1001 16th Street South, Saint Petersburg, Florida, 33705 is the address held. This address falls in Pinellas County. People travel in from the surrounding area, and confirming the route beforehand saves difficulty. Public transport, parking and the length of the journey all affect whether someone completes a course of treatment, and they are worth settling before the first appointment rather than after.

It is worth calling first to confirm access, parking and the shape of a first visit. Where travel is difficult, ask whether an initial appointment can be held remotely. Where no one answers, leaving a message and calling again later usually works better than giving up.

I see alot of negative reviews about doctor Diana lopez. Honestly, i'm completely shocked because i've had nothing but a positive experience with her and suncoast medical. You need to understand they deal with alot of… people. Suncoast helps people with no insurance, low income, or no income at all. Yes, sometimes you have to wait to be seen especially your first appointment. But it does get better. Once your stable on your meds and doing well. They will allow you to come back every couple of months to see the doctor. I suffer from bipolar and ever since I started going to Suncoast and taking medicine, my life has become so much easier. I am one of the low income people that cannot afford regular psychiatrist. And because of there services I'm getting better. They have a pharmacy in house which also offer low prices for non- insurance people. I say trust the process. Have some patience and get the help you need. Try smiling or tell the front desk worker to have a nice day and thank the pharmacy worker. I little bit of kindness goes a long way. Mama always said: "You catch more bees with honey then with vinegar."

This facility has nothing but excuses. So glad I’m done with you guys. If you want a respectful team that’s organized then this isn’t your place. Was a patient for years. Make it so difficult to release records to ME.… The entire facility is difficult. Oh and don’t get too attached to your therapist they will eventually schedule you with a new one without telling you. The psychiatrist also as bad. I could go on for days why I can’t stand this place.

I’ve been a patient here at Suncoast Ctr for 10 yrs. I suffer from bipolar, ptsd, severe anxiety amongst other diagnoses. After first being on Xanax for 5 yrs I was lowered to Clonazapam which I’ve been on for another 5… years and was switched to see Jennifer Bailey which was insistent to lowering me to 1mg from 3mg. I was told to leave her office and all I could say is I lost it. She is completely rude, inconsiderate, un compassionate, doesn’t even look at me. Doesn’t care about how I feel. She did not want to fill my anxiety medication. Why is she employed with a mental center??? Obviously she can’t go to work somewhere else making more money. She’s not professional!!! I’m totally disgusted and unsure of what to do. She prescribed Buspirone and after picking it up from the pharmacy it said side effects were dizziness, confusion, excitement, nervousness and difficulty falling asleep which is the opposite of what my anxiety medication was doing for me. Anxiety medication is supposed to help calm me, not make me nervous which I already am and not being able to sleep. Since the dosage of my clonazapam was lowered more I sleep no more than 4 hours which makes me feel completely irritable. They say anxiety medication is not a sleeping aid, but when I was on my regular dose my anxiety was under control some what and so it relaxed my anxiety and so I was able to sleep up to 7-8 hrs per night. Now, I am to see someone else. I feel this lady needs to go back to school and until then get out of there!!!!!!!

No appointment reminders. Drove all the way here for appointment. No call about counselor not being available. Wasted my time. Was counting on this help. Don't bother. They don't give a damn.

Update 5/11/26: “Dr.” Diana Lopez was the cruel person I saw. It’s been difficult to forget this wildly unprofessional encounter. Diana, can’t wait; I’ll see you next Tuesday. The psychiatrist who saw me (older woman in… glasses with a thick accent; I will update with a name) was obstinate and apathetic. She kept calling a routine medication I’ve been on for 10 years by the wrong name (not the generic name, FYI). When I tried correcting her she shook her head and wouldn’t allow me to correct her. She interrupted me multiple times and spoke over me. I’m am truly appalled with the wild amount of disrespect that I received. The only reason I was here was because I was laid off and needed a low cost psych alternative. I’m more wise to the fact you get what you pay for, which is likely why she works here. I recommend avoiding her if you’re able to.

We went there in 2014-2015. I decided to write a review now to think back on things. I cannot speak for now but back then they were fixated on meds. Try this this or this when one thing didn't work. When I explained my… son wasn't on any and hadn't been for weeks of going to the sessions and my son was playing cooperatively with toys, the counselor, a man, I dont remember his name, was so offended he was like, "how do we know if the medication works?" Well, my thought was obviously it doesn't if my son is cooperating without them. So annoying. They didnt seem to want to get to the root of anything either just offer meds. Anyways, just thought I'd share.

Unbelievable experience with Dr Lopez. Such a negative, abrasive character. Worst medical Appointment in my time. Reported her to my dedicated Cigna insurance representative. Filed a formal complaint. Truly awful.

Highly negative experience with Dr Diana Lopez. Was very appalled by her level of arrogance, tone, disrespect, lacks all listening skills. Does not care about the patient. She addressed me as someone else. She is high… up in age. I think they need to evaluate her abilities. Zero stars.

Suncoast Mental Health is not a place I would recommend to receive Mental Health Services. I've been going there off and on for 20 years. Their Services for the last couple of years is terrible. They are very… unprofessional in their care of clients, including myself. Today was enough for me to realize I have other positions. I was going there for so long which is the only reason I stayed. Not anymore. Suncoast, do what you do, next to nothing. As for me, I'm going elsewhere because I need help. I'm going somewhere else. I D.O. H.A.V.E. O.P.T.I.O.N.S.llllll

I started going to this facility for help with treatment , instead , I’d go weeks without medication due an “ authorization issue . They never return calls in a timely matter , staff is desensitized to having an empathy… whatsoever . Worst mental facility and I truly feel bad for patients that have no other options .

I have been diagnosed with 5 mental illnesses the worst being severe anxiety and panic attacks. Was reassigned to jennifer baleil. After 4 visits I searched for a help somewhere else. She is not a nice person and never… once asked how im managing or feel. Just have a seat she would say. Never listen to me or took time to even look at me just her computer screen. In my opinion she is not fit to be responsible for her position and Suncoast should not have a nurse practitioner taking care of mental illnesses

Terrible. Front desk employees are apathetic and do not properly communicate. I went there for months and only had maybe 4 sessions with my therapist because of constant cancellations, worst part of it being that I’d… drive all the way there just to be told my therapist cancelled, no call, email, nothing to let me know so I didn’t waste my gas. My last appointment I went in and they told me my therapist was no longer there, once again didn’t notify me. Never went back. These people don’t care about healthcare, don’t waste your time, you’ll never get what you need.

There must be some SERIOUS miscommunication here and now I need to update my safety plan AGAIN. My counselor put in my safety plan that I use illicit drugs and that all of them will be “locked up” in the place I am… going to be going. FIRST OF ALL, I’ve NEVER been a drug user. Second of all, I’ve been a client at Suncoast on and off for many years since I was 14 years old and this had never been an issue. Needless to say, I switched counselors and I will calling to update my safety plan because of this bozo. This is horrible. I used to love suncoast. But in the past year I have received nothing but negative experiences. I am here for my mental health NOT for drug abuse. Mental health issues are a real and serious issue for many people. Shame on you suncoast for the way you’ve treated me as a long time client. Update: I’m choosing give three stars now because my NEW counselor Allison is wonderful. She has treated me with the utmost respect and has helped me work through many issues already. She even recommended family therapy for the issues I have with my mom and a guardianship court case. I have to say, having been a client of suncoast on and off for almost 14 years, that I will give a mixed review. Some of the reception is not good, but some are. Counselors are usually great. Wait times can be long. Have been treated horribly by some staff and very kindly by others. Though suncoast needs major improvement they are not lacking completely. Another update: I’ve decided I will take whatever concoction of drugs these people want to shove down my throat for ptsd and depression but I am not having them stab me with a needle every month with their “antipsychotic” poison. I’ve been through enough in my life. But If it gets me my rights back sooner then I’ll do it.

First thing I would like to say is, the front desk staff are amazing, as well as my counselor Shancy. She is an amazing listener, very understanding, and kind. On the other hand, I have yet to be assigned a decent… psychiatrist. So far the two people I have dealt with are rude, extremely unprofessional, egotistical, and do not listen to any of my comments or concerns. Maria, who no longer works there, saw me one time before transferring and gave me a diagnosis of bipolar disorder based on false pretenses. I had the new psyche Jennifer go over the notes and I voiced how I strongly I feel this is incorrect. She refused to listen to anything I had to say, wrote me off as argumentative, and also REFUSED to even go into the options of certain medications recommended by other practitioners, as well as the concern as to why I was given a certain medication. Why? Due to her own personal feelings about the medications. I have seizures, and though I understand that my medication is an off brand mood stabilizer- it has no effect on my mood, but works for my seizures. Of course I know the mental health institution does not treat seizures, however they are treating my medication like it is simply a mood stabilizer-. Both psychiatrists rudely put in their input on how I should see a neurologist, which I told them I could not due to no insurance. It is extremely uncalled for, and inconsiderate to tell a person with chronic illnesses what they should and shouldn't do with their health, like I'm not already working on it. These women have honestly disgusted me and have fueled my dislike of the mental health system even more. They have robbed me of my PTSD diagnosis, which is what I came there to get addressed in the first place. They have deliberately ignored my concerns, my disagreements, the reasoning behind why I disagree, and it is infuriating and downright disgusting. What is also disgusting, is to get told you're being 'disrespectful' by the manager, for wanting to switch psyches at an appointment, when I called months earlier to have her switched and it was denied. I could tell she had a bit of animosity towards that already before I even walked in the room. Perhaps I will go to a different place to get a second opinion by true professionals and not by a couple of egotistical gaslighters. How did these women get their licences-
