I’m transgender and I was in TROSA from 2021-2023. I woke up with gratitude in my heart thinking about all the good that came from this program. Being a transgender female, I was given not only the opportunity to go… into the women’s program but I also was provided hormones for my transition the ENTIRE time I was there along with counseling from a therapist and psychiatrist for mental health medication management, all for FREE. The medical department at TROSA is amazing!! I didn’t need anything but the clothes on my back when I showed up and they provided everything I needed plus MUCH more for the duration of my time there. The staff not 1 time misgendered me or made me feel different and I was treated like all the other girls; and for that I am very very thankful!! I would definitely recommend TROSA if you’re looking for a good long term program, especially if you’re transgender!
Love goggle
This place changed my life! If I would have not gone here I probably would have not realized I would never wanna be in a place like this ever again. I left I’m working a great job making more money than I’ve ever made… in my life and I’m insanely happy. Anybody who says they have a counseling license either fraudulently obtained or is lying. Compassion does not exist here. They basically work you for free labor. The amount of mental torture I went through here was insane.
In the beginning I was impressed hearing some of their story. But when I actually went to get admitted The two girls were so abrupt, wanted to get urine sample. The guy was very lame and timid which surprised me. I did… not see any welcome or leadership in staff or managers. As a business to get sober, I felt like I was going to a confined place like prison where it lacks compassion and empathy. I decided not to go there at all. I told my parents I will not go there I don't care if they wanted me to go there I will not go. JSF
My father was court ordered to come to TROSA for rehab during his two year sentence on probation. He went through the entire process of being screened/interviewed and approved for it. We had to jump through several… hoops in order to get everything done and submitted for them. Well, we find out apparently he's now being rejected because of his "poorly managed diabetes", which is crazy since he just went to get insulin and other medications prescribed to him, that they asked for mind you, and now he can't come due to his management, isn't getting off drugs and taking medication managing it? This place clearly is not for drug addicts who need it, but rather the ones that aren't going to give them a bad rep. Maybe we should learn to not approve people too quickly! And get all of the facts before ripping away an opportunity to change someone's life! And if diabetes is a deal breaker, maybe say that when you find out in the beginning of the process! Their actions are very irresponsible and cast them in a poor light, lets be better please. I hope this place has the day it deserves for the way they got my fathers hopes up just to crush them.
Been sober a little over 4 years now. I couldn't have done it without trosa. ❤️
Very disappointed at the staff and the way they operate, from my understanding most things are ran my the ones in the program. Took my son on a Monday. Could only have what he had on which was a new $70 pair of running… shoes and a new $60 pair of jeans and shirt. After inquiring about the gym, Was told he would be in class for the first 30 days and gym privileges had to earned. ( Wouldn't walking/jogging/running/ exercise be a good thing for people trying to recover from substance abuse?, Which is what he did at home to "occupy time".) Was also told he would never be left alone. Got a call from him the following Friday at 3:00 a.m. saying he was on the Street! Wait, what? On the street, 6 hours from "home". Called and left several messages on the six hour trip with no collaboration from TROSA STAFF. Son stated they took him to the hospital and no one from TROSA was there when he was discharged. Hospital Security informed him that the hospital was not a homeless shelter and he needed to leave.....? When we finally arrived to get him, well he didn't have on what we left him in, he had on work clothes and work boots, I thought it was class the first 30 days, he said he had been working.... Upon arrival on Saturday, no Staff with TROSA was available to speak to us nor anyone to get his belongings that he had on upon arrival. When I finally did talk to Staff from TROSA, well he didn't even know he wasn't there anymore and was then informed they didn't offer the services he needed?? I guess they are not equipped to provide the psychological services that all recovering addicts need, thought this place was a rehab for addicts to become a recovery addict?? Also inquired about why no one was called that was listed on the emergency contact list with a response of it was not an emergency, well, he was taken to the emergency room? As of today I have left at least 5 msgs to have his thing mailed with no collaboration or package from TROSA, even offed to pay for the shipping?????
If you really want to change your life, you must put your old life behind; this is the place to help with that and you can rebuild your life. It's a big commitment, but the people you will meet and bond with with help… you through it.
Awesomeeeee program my daughter was great there
This place saved my life
Great place wonderful people i stayed for 5 months and im still sober :) i now feel part of society and normal
Recovery makes any possible!!!!
Had the pleasure of meeting Kennon, big Sean,TK, Greg and Rodney today as they were moving out one of my customers very pleasant men very hard working and they were able to get the customer out in no time and took great… care of her belongings. These guys were great all around.
Natalie Watkins, Trosa changed my life for the better. I was a mess, I was never homeless or jobless in my term I was a functioning addict. To me I was perfect; once I got accepted into Trosa, wow that experience was… one of the best things I could have ever done. It taught me how to respect others and to cherish the small things in life. Trosa is an amazing organization, there you have the tools to open any door to a better you, life, it teaches you how to build beautiful relationships with total strangers. I went on March 4th, 2019 and stayed there until June of 3021. If you are serious about changing your life for the better call 📞 they will be there for 100%. I'm not sure if I can name certain staff, but for the whole they want to see you succeed in your new journey in life. Amazing group of recovering addicts are there for you. They have traveled the same road as you have, they just decided to make a leap for the better things in life, if they did it so can you.
TROSA is a multi-year residential treatment facility located in Durham. My experience at Trosa was much needed. The program is what you make of it. They have rules in place to change the way you live and react to day to… day circumstances. I was able to graduate the program after the 2 year completion and stay on as a Senior Resident and continue to gain valuable life skills needed to function sobely in the community outside of Trosa. Once I decided to transition back to the community I was allowed to live in their transitional housing for up to a year. I gained a car through their Graduate program as well. I am able to visit the community anytime, as long as my standing in sobriety are good. I was able to gain structure and stability while being able to receive mental and medical health services all at no cost to me. Again the program is in place to provide you with the tools to live a productive life in or outside of the program.
This program is a safe zone for those seeking shelter from the horrors of addiction. In TROSA, I had time to begin unraveling the twisted knots of things that no doubt led to substances. Counseling allowed me to face… what had haunted me from the past. Within the program, I gained knowledge of self, leadership roles, work ethic, and most importantly purpose. Purpose is huge because without it, the urge of self destruction is inevitable. Things I learned within this program, has allowed me to become impactful in society as well as trended me on the journey to become the best version of myself. I believe so many opportunities ore offered within Trosa and as with life; you have to pursue opportunities to reap the benefits. For me being actively engaged in my program were the steps needed to remain active within my recovery upon completion of TROSA. If you are reading this, you or someone you love likely needs help; make the call...just may save a life❤
TROSA is easily the most remarkable organization of it's kind. Specializing in the rehabilitation of substance abusers, I was able to completely abandon the destructive path I was on and build a new life by taking… advantage of the free counseling, housing, medical/dental care, and leadership training. Through their discipline structure and peer-to-peer relationship model, I was able to learn from those who achieved success before me and apply that knowledge to improve myself. In regards to the more practical benefits, they paid to have my driver's license reinstated, trained and paid for my CDL's, ensuring that I would have the tools to succeed on my own when I transitioned out. I'm forever grateful for the individuals that make up the TROSA community.
Horrible place to go. Roaches, rats, little bed, cramped living space. Not at all like advertised. Not any actual “rehabilitation”. Food is horrendous. Staff is harsh. Better rehabs are available if you are thinking of… sending someone here don’t. Review other options. They literally work you to death. Virtually no communication with family members. Harsh environment to put yourself or a loved one in. And if and when you decide to leave they give you a bus ticket it’s sad really. The way they make you feel about leaving. Glad I got out. Place should be shut down. Please try other options waaaaay better rehabs and work programs out there.
It's been years but I know it's same things going on, the treatment is kept to 3 nights a week and they are encpunter groups, if u make it back from the job on time. At the end the day I was let out of prison to go… there and for that I'm grateful. It did help me to look at things differently but for it to be 24 months there should be far more time spent on self help. Addiction doesn't fit in a cookie cutter neither does recovery.
Great used toy selections! Found a make shift Ewok Village for my sink hole museum!
This is a business. They use people to run it. Very much taken advantage of. Lack of family communication on their part. My son was there and now he's with God. I would never do that again. I hope he forgives me. I'm… sure he does.
I have always heard the food could and should be better. There are better ingredients held back that are definitely earned and could/should be enjoyed by all. I know for a fact when the people have happy stomachs… they'll just about work hard at anything. Get one of those big time culinary chef's come in and with the interested residents in culinary, turn the food and kitchen around. Other than that, TROSA and my son's hard work saved his life years ago. He needs the program again, I hope he'll reach out to you guys.
The work they do in the community is priceless.
Well to start off I’m giving trosa a great review because first and foremost being an addict and wanting rehabilitation is not as easy as it seems. Even though I didn’t finish the program I’m honored to say trosa cares… about YOU I mean literally some people been on drugs for years and their own family couldn’t reach out to help them feed them clothe them or shelter them. so the nerve of people being ungrateful for something that’s totally free and up to you to finish. this is an YOU DO IT program can’t nobody else want it for you but the addict there selves like honestly people should be more grateful because really what do you have to lose besides your addiction like I’m so happy to see the growth in trosa. from where they started to what they’ve become now. it’s amazing and literally they didn’t even serve a purpose in my life yet but I’m just thankful for them helping people off the streets reuniting them to there family’s. that’s a beautiful things you know how many people are broken because they just want back the ones they love💕. honestly think about that and maybe people would appreciate the total effort trosa puts in to make someone’s life better one person at a time GOD BLESS YOU TROSA AND THANK YOU IN ADAVANCE. HAPPY HOLIDAYS.
Great people. Great program. All the negative reviews are from heartbroken people who need to blame someone other than themselves or their family member for their sad situation. Addiction situations are indeed terrible,… but you can’t blame these people for trying to help you. It’s not fair.
