Trident Counseling – Largo

Mac will con you into signing a “treatment plan” that he does not explain will cost $300. Just shows you the good parts on the screen after he gets you emotional in talking about your issues. So when you just sign it… without really looking, he will then use that as leverage to report you as non-compliant. I tried multiple times to reach them to reschedule my appointment and while they would absolutely not return my call, they still took the time to report me as non-compliant on treatment to the DMV and Suncoast. Like what? Absolutely no ethics. Extortionists just like Suncoast.

My experience is EXACTLY what was described by Darryl 2 years prior. I was unaware my counselor was the owner of the practice (in any other case this would have been an incredibly large benefit). Makes perfect sense… that any “missteps” would add extra time, therefore extra money to go to the owner... Such a money grab of a practice, completely taking advantage of clients. If you are reading this run. When I was in a session and my phone froze because of bad connection (after having to RUSH out of the office to make my 5pm session because I have a full time job 8-5), the owner, my counselor, had the audacity to exclaim “WHAT IS IT WITH YOU PEOPLE AND YOUR POOR CONNECTION? [SIC]” (sic because it was very close and that was the sentiment). He DID NOT mean to say something racist, but he did mean to describe people who HAVE to get treatment due to what Darryl described tend to have bad connections. (He must deal with a lot of phones freezing lol). Describing a client as part of “you people” in a derogatory manner is the EXACT OPPOSITE of what you should be doing when that client is hiring you to provide them a service. Imagine if the waiter at your favorite restaurant did that?? After explaining to him how I heard him say exactly that he gas lit me by saying he was frustrated that the phone froze when he was about to say something “important.” And then couldn’t remember what it was after that lol. I also expressed how infuriated I was that extra sessions were to be added, he continued to attempt to act as a counselor/therapist. To which I entertained the idea, so as to get the session over with amicably. My only regret is that I didn’t read Darryl’s review.

I would like to say i am an extremely satisfied client of Trident counseling. The staff is amazing. My counselor Lori especially i have never dealt with a more organized drug/alcohol treatment program. The staff seems… to genuinely care for their clients, straight to the point and easy going. If you are struggling with substance or alcohol abuse this is the place to go I have learned things i never knew before that has helped me on my recovery journey.

Mac Jacobs, who not only owns but also is a "counselor" of trident, should lose his license. He'll bleed you dry, add on countless weeks, schedule you at whatever time suits him so not only do you pay them a obscene… amount of money, you lose work hours as well. He is condescending, rude, and not a good person. Look up Mac Jacobs largo and you'll see other negative reviews. It seems like a conflict of interest that the person who most directly profits from clients, is also the person who keeps adding on weeks, to people for who the most part, have no choice because they are on probation or are court ordered. I strongly suggest you look elsewhere for counseling, there are many choices in Pinellas!
