About VA Eastern Kansas Healthcare System – Leavenworth

VA Eastern Kansas Healthcare System operates from 4101 South 4th Street in Leavenworth. The site sits in Leavenworth County, which shapes which public funding routes apply. Nearby communities include Atchison, Oskaloosa and Winchester. Kansas draws people across long distances for treatment, so travel time is worth weighing against waiting time.

Hospital inpatient care, detox, residential treatment, intensive outpatient and outpatient care are delivered here, alongside medication-assisted treatment, telehealth appointments and care for co-occurring mental health conditions. Which level fits depends on the assessment rather than on what is available, so the useful first question is what that assessment involves.

Detox and Rehab Services at VA Eastern Kansas Healthcare System

Withdrawal management covers alcohol, benzodiazepine and opioid dependence and is handled on site rather than referred elsewhere. Someone starting in detox can move into residential care without changing provider or repeating an intake. What a first week looks like differs between providers more than the level of care name suggests.

Residential runs long-term, which suits people who have tried shorter stays without them holding. Buprenorphine and naltrexone are available and paired with counseling rather than prescribed alone. Co-occurring mental health conditions are treated in the same building rather than split across providers.

VA Eastern Kansas Healthcare System Address, Location and Contact Information

The address is 4101 South 4th Street, Leavenworth, KS 66048, in Leavenworth County. The catchment reaches Atchison, Oskaloosa and Winchester. Confirm what a program covers before traveling in, since the level of care listed is not always the level with capacity.

Telehealth appointments cover some contact where travel is difficult, which removes part of the journey for people further out. Ask what a first appointment involves and how long the current wait runs before making the trip. Waiting times vary with capacity, so call ahead rather than arriving unannounced.

The VA Leavenworth is an awesome place! They take great care of the veterans there! Les, Michelle, Liz, the blood draw lab, the pharmacy, and Team 6! Not to mention many others!

Didn't even get seen, spent over an hour and a half in the waiting area, and heard the DAV person talking about music with whoever instead of doing their job. I honestly had to leave before I said something rude. This… place was completely unhelpful

This is my second VA I've ever been to. Before here, I was at Tampa's VA. THEY ARE HUGELY BUSY OVER THERE!!!! I've been here for just over 10 years and never had a problem here.

Consistantly great service. The people at this facility are exceptional in their care and concern for "Their Veterans." It is really nice to be treated as someone special. I really love this VA Facility. The Doctors,… Nurses and Staff go out of their way to be helpful and of service to all.

I've had 95% amazing visits but the ER visit was not very helpful. I'm still losing weight and weak in muscles hasn't gotten better. When I got home from that visit I hit grown from struggling to lift my left leg and… landed on my face. I'm scared of what these blood pressure meds and cholesterol meds have done to me. I can hardly get groceries and get them in the house. It's just weird that I was doing fine tell I started going to St. Joseph VA. I just don't want to die. I've never been more stressed 😢

What a great experience I had with my surgery. Flash to bang was about 30 days. I saw my local clinic and before I got home they called to schedule my consult with the Doctor here. He gave me my options and I was on the… schedule 2 weeks later. The Nurses, Anesthesia and Doctor were outstanding. Thank you Dr. Ludwig, Jason, Jill and everyone at there in the surgery department.

Great experience while being treated with broken bones, PTSD, cancer and alcohol. However the Emergency Department staff could polish up on some bedside manners. I went in for three broken ribs. " Here's some pain meds… and we'll send you home until l said I'm here to detox as well and that l needed surgery for cancer. I would of gave five stars but you all dropped the ball.

I thought I had a heart attack and they gave me Valium, since they couldn't technically treat me there, then tell me to take a nap and then sent me home 30 minutes later.

After moving to Minnesota, I was surprised at how well I was treated at my new VA. This VA hospital had left such a low impression of VA hospitals I just expected that I would be treated like a stray dog at any VA. I… hope things have changed here. I often encountered incredibly rude and down right mean spirited staff, like just my existence was a major inconvenience to them.

Always had great service here, regardless of what the issues are. Terrific work always and a great place.
