VA Puget Sound Healthcare System – Tacoma Detox and Rehab Services

The register shows VA Puget Sound Healthcare System – Tacoma providing detox, residential treatment and intensive outpatient. Withdrawal is managed under clinical observation before other treatment begins, which matters most in the first seventy-two hours for alcohol and benzodiazepines. Sessions follow a set timetable while people keep living at home. The right level of care is a clinical judgement rather than a preference, and an assessment should produce a defined answer.

Only one side is on record here, so ask directly if both are needed. Approved medication is paired with counseling and regular review. Ask directly about session times and frequency, as those details decide whether someone can realistically attend.

VA Puget Sound Healthcare System – Tacoma Address, Location and Contact Information

The facility address is 9600 Veterans Drive SW, Tacoma, Washington, 98493. This address falls in Pierce County. The site also serves the surrounding area, and anyone traveling in should confirm the route before setting out. How someone gets there matters more than it sounds: travel is one of the commonest reasons a course of treatment stops partway.

Phone ahead about parking, access and what the first appointment covers. Where travel is difficult, ask whether an initial appointment can be held remotely. If the first call does not reach anyone, try again at a different time of day rather than assuming the service is closed.

The community care phone line answering system is awful. You get put in a wait line telling you you're caller 44, 43, 39.... then goes into perpetual second clip of music and then silence for a min or two....for over an… hour and a half "waiting" for no one to answer. Hung up tried again, caller 36... 29... same clips and hold for an hour or more. Again, the next day, same thing. Why is there no way to check on the referral status or check online for the correct documents online to avoid this!?!

These people or as incompetent as they are insensitive and horrible. For everything, but especially when it comes to mental health. They don't care about your mental health. They may get you a therapist or an… appointment with a community care therapist. But if for some reason that doesn't work out that well or maybe your therapist is on leave or something like that, they'll basically tell you you're out of luck and they don't care because you've already gotten a referral for communicare and if the community care people aren't good enough for you or can't help you during that time, you should just suck it up. Nobody cares about people who served this nation.

Still assessing. Up and down. Thankful for my Clinical Pharmacist, San Diego Physical Therapist, Psychotherapist...even Pain Doctor. I believe they are doing what they can, but I feel their hands are tied somewhat.… Also, being TOLD to give up by your PCP who is the medical director is extremely disturbing 😳 😐 😕. SO, I will keep advocating for myself... I must, for my own quality of life, for my own sanity! 😀 The nurses, nurse aides, receptionists...all seem to respond quickly to requests, otherwise- they are fantastic!! 😀

The va is the worst place to ever be seen for health care period. Between constant changing of appointments and or doctors period is enough not to go. then add docs not showing up to appointments or appoitnemts only… being scheduled for doctores convinces. I haven't seen a mental health provider in almost a year because clearly there is no thought outside of numbers being filled. 👍🏻

I mean if you reach out telling them your in a bad place an need care, plan a two month wait. On top of that plan to speak with 10-15 people in an attempt to get an appointment. Your far better off seeking private… consultations at online clinics. As this place will make you pay mentally for just trying to get help.

Absolutely no communication. Five primary care providers in five months. I happened to be one of the puppies that was picked by providers, and they leave for brighter pastures. Except for the one they seem to have… removed from contact with patients, promote and move to Olympia, or Lacy in a office. AATW!

If you Don't have an Appointment that's Scheduled 3 months out, till you can See your Doctor. They won't even Look at you as a genuine Human Being in Pain, Suffering they Will Not give you Any Service & Tell you to go… to the Hospital/911. Afterwards they Will Not Pay the Hospital Bills they are Required to Pay!! Their Service Wasn't Available, unless you're In some Waiting line/list. Now you're Indebted with Hospital Bill's when you're Supposed to Have Free Health Care. WELL I fired them, Terminating their Services and now I only go to Seattle Hospital for my Healthcare 30 Miles away cause they are incompetent inefficient and just taking up space and wasting oxygen. I even have a Grand Mal Seizure in front of two doctors and they just Stood there. I was told after I came to and did NOTHING BUT Watch me Suffer!!!
