Via – New Beginnings – Brent Reviews
Have you used Via’s New Beginnings service in Brent, either yourself or in supporting someone close to you? A review of your experience would help other local residents weigh up their options.
Beyond reviews, it’s worth checking the service’s registration with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and asking how the women-only sessions are run if that’s relevant to you. Another useful question is what support continues once the 12-week abstinence programme finishes.
It is great that there is awareness of support services for drugs and alcohol related issues in Brent. Let’s hope that there will be more awareness opportunities in the borough such as the new Beginnings Wellbeing event… day on 28th July at Willesden Centre for Health. Thanks.
My key worker is Melissa and she is amazing. So kind, caring and dedicated to her clients, refusing to let us fall through the cracks. Always will go the extra mile. The only key worker in years i will even consider… sharing my story with. Gotta shout out Abdul, he is always there and also carrying the service. But sadly the service is being pushed to the limits. For months due to staff leaving or on long term sick Melissa & Abdul are seeing all the clients. 2 key workers can't see all the clients and act as receptionists between clients. This service is so important to many of us. The only chance of stability and a chance of rehabilitation. If the service is lost because of lack of staff and funding what will happen to the clients ? Where and how far will we have to go ? Who will we see ? For many of us the trust we have in our key worker is so important. The relationship and trust doesn't come easily. The 5 stars I have given are for Melissa. Big shout to Abdul. Lack of funding is breaking this service. I would love the powers that be to fix it, fund it, send qualified staff. Then I can give the service as a whole 5 stars. Addiction and mental health in brent is at breaking point. Just pass by Craven Park and you will see. Without this service I can't imagine how bad it would be ! THE REVIEW IS FOR WILLESDEN HEALTH CENTRE - NEW BEGINNINGS NOT COBBOLD ROAD. ( I'm sure they're great but I'm not a client there)
