About Weeks Medical Center – Lancaster
Weeks Medical Center operates from 173 Middle Street in Lancaster. The site sits in Coos County, which shapes which public funding routes apply. Nearby communities include Berlin and Whitefield. New Hampshire draws people across long distances for treatment, so travel time is worth weighing against waiting time.
Hospital inpatient care and outpatient care are delivered here, alongside medication-assisted treatment, telehealth appointments and care for co-occurring mental health conditions. Which level fits depends on the assessment rather than on what is available, so the useful first question is what that assessment involves.

Treatment Services at Weeks Medical Center
Hospital inpatient care and outpatient care run to a set weekly schedule, with evenings and weekends spent at home. That suits people holding down work or caring responsibilities, though it asks more of someone managing early recovery alone. Ask what the assessment involves before you commit.
Buprenorphine and naltrexone are available and paired with counseling rather than prescribed alone. Trauma-specific services run alongside, which matters where the two are tangled together. Co-occurring mental health conditions are treated in the same building rather than split across providers.

Great hospital and medical services
Don't waste your time or money. I was visiting family from the west coast when I had a flare up of my previously diagnosed herniated discs, and had a 6 hour flight the next day with my wife and 1 year old. Due to the… amount of pain I was, in I didn't think I could make it to a hospital in a more populated area, so I went to weeks because it was the closest ER to where I was. I went in for pain management. What I received was a long wait, a half-assed feel my back examination, a speech about what was happening to me which I was already aware of, a prescription for 5mg of muscle relaxers (I'm a 6'2" 300+ lbs male), and then I was left lying on my hurt back on an exam table. They just left me there, in pain, with no assistance getting off the table. I was in so much back pain I had to roll off the table onto the dirty floor, and then through excruciating pain, hoist myself up with the assistance of the exam table. Long story short, did not provide me with any care, walked out in more pain than I entered with, and then $500 for 20 minutes of a useless doctors time. If you can, avoid this hospital.
I had my child at Weeks hospital over 22 years ago. Been going ever since. I’ve seen John Logsdon for any health issues and he is a wonderful provider.
Seek care elsewhere. Hands down the worst experience trying to establish primary care and basic prescriptions. The pharmacy is exceptionally slow and far more expensive than local options. The worst part is the doctors,… nurses and staff stint do not care about you as a patient. You will jump through endless hoops and be left wondering if anyone ever even looked at your chart. SEEK CARE ELSEWHERE
The staff at this hospital know what they are doing. Excellent patient care. I will go to this emergency room again if a problem arises. Good job. Very professional and knowledgeable. Got me an antibiotic and turned the… infection around. Amazing quality health care.
One star is being very generous. This place is a joke. First time I brought my mom in for an exray appt and sat in the waiting room for over an hr, you guessed it, they forgot about us. I asked when she would be seen… and a nurse came right out to get us and acted like we were inconveniencing her. Really?!!! It was a scheduled appt. Second time my son went in to the emergency room at 3am with possible strep throat. There was only one other person in the waiting room and he sat for over an hr. The Dr came out and said, (with an attitude) it's going to be a while. There was no one there!! Save yourself the time and go elsewhere!! This place needs to shut down. They're going to kill someone one day.
The staff are very unprofessional, and very disrespectful to patients.
For one, I've asked a receptionist Jenny from Colebrook to send me a list of appointments in the mail 2 weeks ago and still didn't receive it. Went to her again today she made me repeat myself 3-4 times. She didn't… listen to me the first time. I prefer to talk to to Natasha at the Colebrook office anyway. People shouldn't have to repeat themselves so many times to schedule appointments. Whoever the receptionist is, they should take patients seriously or dont work there at all
I am not happy with a few of the people at these facilities. They do not take you seriously. There is one doc who I know will take you seriously and that is Tim Mcgarry ; the receptionists and nurses at weeks for… whatever unknown reasons are very rude and in-compassionate and those people should NOT be allowed to even work in such a place. I am possibly on the verge of an emergency and the lady who took the call was very very rude. I was not rude one bit so there should have been no reason why she was. These people that work in a care setting - I feel a lot of them only care about money and power. Always ask who you are talking too and take notes.
A family member was self enrolled in the Weeks Behavioral Health program. She asked for help to detox from opioid pain medication that was prescribed to her, and wanted to discontinue use. The only program that Weeks… highly recommend, was the Suboxone clinic that they provide. Along with providing you with a heavy dose of Suboxone, they provide mandatory by-weekly visits with a therapist. The program does not work. Because of the high turn around of staff members. Weeks Behavioral Health is short handed and understaffed. Counseling ended after the therapist they provided passed away, nobody was available to replace her. They continue to prescribe the medication without therapy. I was told the computer system was new and they were unable to access important records when needed. There have been a lot of problems with no solutions, I believe this is a business for money. I would not recommend for mental health healthcare.
BEWARE! Keep your own records and regularly check your patient portal. Management and scheduling are a constant problem. There is a lot of staff changes. Be your own best advocate!
The Lancaster clinic and the nurses, staff and care givers “doctors “ are a JOKE and they definitely don’t listen or have any education in reading comprehension.
Kate Noel is a fantastic PMHNP. Compassionate, friendly, empathetic, and educated.
Mostly for John Logsdon acute care. One star is too generous! These doctors push medication vs finding underlying conditions. I suggest Littleton Regional Hospital or St Johnsbury Vermont. Acute care is a joke, rude,… and unprofessional. Stay clear of John Logsdon. Also assistances don’t allow you to wait before rushing a patient in and taking Blood pressure, should be allowed to rest 10-15 minutes. No talking etc It’s all about pushing drugs then won’t refill them. All about the money keeping big pharama making money and medical system using old guidelines that are out of date. Visiting “doctors” Have no clue and don’t even read reports! Update: PA-C not even a MD or real doctor. Good luck finding one as they’re all Practitioners and wannabes, ordering test not needed. All about the money and pushing drugs keeping big pharma rich and clueless about a proper diet and telling lies. Bad advice .
This hospital is a joke, a year ago had an appointment scheduled 3 months prior to the appointment, I traveled an hour and 30 minutes. 10 minutes before I get there i get a call saying my doctor rescheduled his… appointments to Berlin, today I had an MRI scheduled since last week traveled an hour and 30 minutes again to find out it was declined by the insurance, no phone call to tell me. Worst facility i have ever dealt with
Watched my sister almost die here for a week with a misdiagnosed stroke...a brain bleed...thank god for littleton regional and Dartmouth Hitchcock. Oh, then again recently she fell down the stairs ended up back here..… they cpuldnt wait to dischargd her and missed a broken clavicle....littleton found it. This place is going to kill someone
Almost died here. Rcvs and then a hemorrhagic stroke blood pressure 200/120 there comments were " wow that's weird" .at one point they called psychiatry because they thought I didn't want to leave. The initial nurse… downstairs was yelling at me because I fell to the ground with a thunder clap headache and was scolded by her to get back in the wheelchair. Had a stroke 2 days after they discharged/ threw me out. Spent a week at Dartmouth Hitchcock. Horrible healthcare..honestly you take your life into your own hands at this so called hospital. .
I've lived in Lancaster for over 10 years and I would recommend Weeks and their staff to anyone who asks, people have and their experience has always been great too. I fought cancer at Weeks and had my surgery done… there, if I have to do so again I want it to be at Weeks! As for primary care doctors they are great and I haven't heard any complaints. My eldest daughter and granddaughter are also patients and as a mother and grandmother I have total trust in them. The only difficulty I had was during Covid and that was because I had to put trust in unknown doctors and nurses. I moved from a small community to this small community and I love living here. Weeks is 1 of the best there is in my opinion. Whenever I have a heart attack I'm disappointed that I have to be transferred to DHMC or CMC. Not because they aren't great too but I'm happier closer to home.
Was sent here for X-rays of my stomach because of severe gastrointestinal issues, migraines, and more. They took a single x ray of my stomach and said it was normal. I'm extremely ill, and it's getting worse, but a… single x ray that looks normal means I'm fine. They pick on AVH, but between here and groveton they're not proving to be much better.
I've been to Weeks many times, the newest was today. I have always received courteous and respectful service, starting at the front door greeter, to the nurses, physicians, technicians. Weeks has been good to me.
Lazy, no good doctors They bring in travel and doctors who don't look at your report and don't care. All they care about is the Mighty buck. THEY don't care about your health. They take away your meds and accuse you of… being a drug addict when you have no drug history, they take away the pills you do need to help with Blood Pressure, They make you sicker, they don't care you want to die. Go to week's medical center yea.
Weeks Memorial provided me with support.
Dr Oetking was very knowledgeable and answered all of my questions prior to and after my colonoscopy. She and the nursing and anesthesiology staff were very kind and made sure that I stayed comfortable.
Great people, Dr's & superb NURSES!!!
VERY rude head ER nurses
When it take 2 hours to be seen in the ER they have issues. This is honestly the worst hospital I have ever been too.
