Wellstone Regional Hospital – Jeffersonville Detox and Rehab Services

The provision listed at Wellstone Regional Hospital – Jeffersonville is detox, residential treatment and intensive outpatient. The withdrawal stage is clinically observed, which is what makes it safer than stopping alone. Structured outpatient runs to a schedule while people return home in the evening. The right level of care is a clinical judgement rather than a preference, and an assessment should produce a defined answer.

The record does not show integrated provision, so confirm this if it matters. The weekly time commitment varies considerably between providers, so establish it early rather than after admission.

This happened a long time ago back when I was 13 (3 years ago). So for starters, my clothes disappeared. Idk if my roommate (she was sick) took them or if they threw it out, but it was gone regardless. 2 male staff… members (I don't remember their names) came in. Now, I was on the kids unit at this time. Um so the two staff members gave a speech about changing your clothes after you shower. Well, obviously I didn't have any or at least no underwear. So, I asked one of male staff members if he could wash my clothes while I was in the shower. He agreed. He told me to just put it outside my door, and I did. So I finished showering but was confused bc he wasnt back yet. So I waited, and waited, and waited. Eventually, he came in. I don't remember if he knocked beforehand but it's whatever. Dw, there was a curtain blocking his view of me. Anyways, he was shouting at me because I took too long. I was confused and started crying. I don't remember what happened well. I know there were 2 other staff members, idk if they were confused or just didn't care. But they let it happen. I told him that I waited or something like that. He said that I was supposed to put my clothes outside my door. I said that I did. He said that I should've called out his name. He never told me to call out his name. I don't know if it's common knowledge or if I missed something, but it doesn't matter. That is not okay. Eventually I was wearing clothes but no underwear. I went into the quiet room. I was crying and he went in there. I looked at the mirror thing, and he said "I know you were looking at me". He did this over and over again, eventually I replied with "I know". I don't know nor do I care if he heard me. I still think about this quite often. The staff here antagonize people alot and openly talk shit about the patients. This has obviously been an issue for years based on the other reviews aswell. I have met good people here who truly did care, and I do miss them. But that doesn't cancel out how he treated me.

ABSOLUTELY NO COMMUNICATION! Was Lied to that my son could call anytime between 7:30-8:30… they forgot to mention 2 of the 3 phones were broke. And he only gets 10 minutes to talk! Lost his clothes.. made him sit in his… clothes 3 days straight. Nurse cassandra and tobi were great to him tho! Kudos to them! we took our son out after 3 days! It was not helping w/no acual 1 on 1 therapy..

I was admitted here after I had a crisis, yeah never again- the only decent food they had was ravioli and the pulled BBQ, I was in unit 2 and they expected us to deal with a heavily mentally unwell girl who was… practically in a vegetive state and they just reinforced her behavior- there was no individual therapy here and felt like a actual prison- not to mention the time to get registered was 5 hours for me- and all we did was watch tv.

It's shame I have to give a star at all. This facility is dangerous. The staff do not care outside of one nurse by the name of Anthony. I went in on a 72 hr hold that come to find out had never been signed. Was given an… opiate despite being in recovery and have no reason to receive the medication. I have spent weeks trying to get back on track from the opiates they gave me. I asked the nurse multiple times why my meds looked different and was ensured it was my normal home medication. Found out on my discharge I was given an opiate. Despite asking many times what I was taking no one ever once disclosed that I was given opiates. My meds while I was there were given to me incorrectly. My insurance was never verified nor was I told the facility costs. Never given a no surprise billing paper despite that being a state law. The unit I was on was left unattended by any staff at one point. Had to beg and plead and have my family call to find out when my hold was up. Told I could sign back in once my hold was up and then sign out ama but had to wait for a doctor to say I was safe. Despite my therapist calling multiple times to tell them there facility was not where I needed to be. Witnessed a nurse attempt to give another patient someone's meds. The patient told the nurse not how you spell my name, not my meds. The nurse argued then realized the patient was right and apologized. They are understaffed. I was laughed at, spoken down to and completely disrespected. When I told them my hold was up and I was ready to go but needed my records. Told I couldn't have my med list because the doctor never put the orders in for the medications I had been taking. Which brings me to just how dangerous that was. No one really knew what I was suppose to be taking. My first night there I was put in a room for 4 hours. One person spoke to me in that time frame. No one explain what was happening or why. Taken to a unit where during a skin check the nurse laughed at me about my stretch marks. After my skin assessment. I was placed in a lobby and had to ask about my room. No one would tell me. Then finally I was given the wrong meds and told my room. Went to my room where there were no sheets on the bed. Asked five times for sheets and a pillow and laughed at multiple time during this process. My name was never checked and I did not recieve and arm band until the next day. Again not a single staff verified my name or dob while passing meds or any other times really. Another patient was put in the same bed as me. I pointed it out to the dtaff at which point my name was finally added to the list of patients in the unit. Mollie the social worker and her boss were hateful to me. They destroyed then permission to discuss that I had signed for my sister. My sister was calling because no one would come speak to me despite continuing to ask. They finally came down and spoke very harshly to me. My sister had to threaten legal action to get them to listen. Again still never disclosing the time my hold ended. I have never been at a facility ran this way and it is not safe, or helpful. It's dangerous. Cannot stress enough this facility needs to be shut down by the state. It is unsafe and all they care about is money not helping people. Mollie is so rude and so is her boss. I have never met two social workers who could care less about being empathetic. This place looks for ways to money grab.

Staff made sexist remarks towards us and slipped me benzodiazepines illegally despite being in treatment similar to another review here with opioids, did not get to speak to the doctor nearly as much as I should have,… and accused me of being a drug seeker for asking for my life saving medication (inhaler for smoke inhalation), told me I was manipulating them for asking to use the bathroom, some staff made me very uncomfortable by saying things to me about my appearance despite me being a minor and knowing being sexually abused is apart of what sent me there, brushed off my brain to gut condition, and screamed at me for being confused despite being in psychosis though some truly great staff members on board as well, that have patients best interest in mind

This place was a nightmare and honestly i didnt know if i should leave a review or not. I was inpatient at Unit 5 for 5 days. The entire unit was infested by gnats and nobody truly did anything about it till my last… couple of days there but even then it was terrible. Even though we had a schedule it was never truly followed. Groups varied where we were either given a piece of paper we just read, or a social worker sat in the back filling out paper work while she turned on a movie. If we werent doing this form of group we would be coloring for hours. I had a total of 70 coloring pages when i was discharged. We were told by nurses and techs that it was our responsibility to help and council others. When doctors visited you got to talk to them maybe 2 minutes if you were lucky. Also i wanted to shout out the front desk. On my last day i was told by my social worker a time i was ready to be picked up and i called my ride to let them know. When he got there he told them he was here to see me and they told called the unit, but they were still working on getting my discharge papers and everything together, they told my ride, “These patients will tell you anything to get out of here its gonna be another 3 hours before she is released they all lie.” even though i was released only 30 mins after that encounter. Nurses would sit behind the desk talking about patients as if we werent in the day room all day. The only positive thing is Kat and Felix which is a nurse and tech that worked in unit 5. Kat located my belongings after trying to have clothes for hours, and was just overall really sweet and advocated for the patients. Felix went out of his way to make sure we had a group that was memorable each morning and actually was a group even when nurses and social workers were behind the desk talking over him.

Horrible and abusive!! I was inpatient here in the child unit a few years back and the staff were horribly abusive and did not care at all about my trauma or my problems, I was struggling with psychosis and they… insisted that I was faking it and they had me begging my guardian to come pick me up due to the fact that they had gave me seven injections in a single day and traumatized me, I now have a severe fear of injections due to this!! Do NOT send your child here!!

Staff would just let the phone ring and ring and when I left voicemails I hardly ever got a call back concerning my father. Communication between the patient and staff was horrible they told my dad false information… concerning visitation because staff told my dad I could bring my 16 month old daughter with me but when I talked to staff they said I couldn’t and that no one under 16 was allowed to visit. So the communication and rules was not fully now and communicated by staff properly. Also staff gave a whole pack of my dad’s cigarettes away without even asking him before hand which is not right at all. They were also not communicating with wooden Glenn like they were supposed to with sending his medical records. So it took him 2 days to get out.

I been here alot over three years, inpatient and outpatient, i can say back in the day i loved it, it was like home, i looked forward to the van getting me to bring me to outpatint. i remember Ms. Jozelyn she always… made me feel welcome and at home with a smile and just felt like a mother to me, Mr. Scott who drove the van and sat in the room with us he always made me feel like a person, talked to me connected with me made the van rides fun and laughed all the time he felt like a dad to me. Nurse Amanda was always so funny and seemed like one of us. She was like ya favorite auntie, them 3 were never to busy or seemed overwhelmed enough to talk with me. They are what the hospital needs. Since i been back, it feels stale. The staff just feel cold and like they scared of losing they jobs. Staff now sit in class and vent about how much they got to do and how every1 just wants to stab them in the back, the old lady in the room sits there talking about cant trust anybody, van rides became like nursing home like, Nurse Amanda she different now, dont smile and joke like a year ago like everyone afraid of each other now. Bruh it was so nice back in the day and now I dont even have a desire to go back. This place used to be home but now it dont feel that way no more. Needs a redo/makeover.

If zero stars were an option, that's what I would leave. My loved one was placed on an emergency hold and taken to Wellstone. Despite signing a relase to speak with me, she and I were both told her information could not… be shared with me (her next of kin). My loved one is under the care of a therapist, and not once was the therapist consulted on her care (a release was also signed to speak to the therapist). This resulted in decisions that were not beneficial to my loved one being made and enforced while she was in their care. My loved one is a recovering pill addict. She and I both made staff aware she should not be given benzos while in their care. She was given benzos. While she was in Wellstone's care, twice she was offered a different patient's medication by staff (literally labeled with the patient's name, which did not correspond with my loved one's name). She was given medication in incorrect dosages and at incorrect times. When her emergency hold was up, staff informed her that she would need to voluntarily admit herself so they could put her on another hold (this is a money grab folks - had she done this, they would have continued billing her). She was never given any documentation or consulted on costs of services, her insurance information was also never collected. We met with the Chief Nursing Officer (Carlo) while we were there. We made all of our concerns known to him, including that staff were laughing at the patients, that patients were being left unobserved for extended periods of time, that medication was not being distributed properly, that someone else was put in my loved one's bed while she was still in patient because the staff was not following proper protocol for admitting, etc. Not once did Carlo take a single note. He was interested in nothing but making excuses. To finally get this facility's staff to respond to me, I had to threaten legal action. You'd be amazed at how quickly they changed their tune at that point. Bottom line, if you LOVE your family/friend, send them anywhere but here. If you want to know what this place is like, watch Girl, Interupted - their goal is to get you admitted, then keep you drugged and confused so you cannot leave and your family has to FIGHT to get you out. This place should be shut down.

I've been here a few times and I can honestly say it's better than most places in the area. Food is good ( you're almost fed TOO much lol ), techs are nice and nurses are pretty caring. It's just like any other type of… hospital, they give you the tools on the inside to help you for when you leave there. The only complaint I have is the downtime there. Sometimes you go an hour or two without doing anything which can feel like an eternity! Other than that, Wellstone isn't all that bad!!

So , I'd been admitted I was in Unit 5 . Greeted by some pretty cool staff who really care about the patients . Some Staff like Samantha antagonized the patients instead of treating them like human beings. None of the… people who were originally in our unit were violent . Then they allowed a violent patient into our unit and she clashed terribly with many people in our unit , screamed for three hours until staff was finally able to remove her . The Doctor doesn't meet you face to face , and you can tell them whatever you want and they'll put you in a unit and give you medicine just based off of what you tell them . No meeting with a therapist one on one or even a doctor . They are understaffed but expect a lot from the staff they do have . Under appreciated and reprimand them for being kind to people who simply are sad , or have some anxiety . Not only that but some people are so hell bent on following "the rules" they allowed my brown skinned roommate to sleep on a mattress that reeked of urine and was denied a shower but upon receiving a new patient she was able to shower almost immediately . That patient was fare skinned . I did report it to patient advocacy because it just didn't look good . Felix & Seth need to be training people on mental heath , and patience and kindness and Human decency . I also think there needs to be more actual activities to keep people busy during the day. We should have been able to get properly diagnosed by a actual doctor . Not someone who sits on the phone with you while on the other side of a thin wall for 10 seconds and then is able to prescribe you any medication . There's no privacy . Another patient heard another patient's diagnosis . Wellstone was just not ideal for someone who's going through anxiety or depression or SI . I did like the counseling from some of the techs but they aren't licensed therapist and they were worn thin . The food could've be better , boxed eggs should be a crime .

They dont clean the place. I laid in a bed that was peed in. Then staff would not let me shower the entire day. The food makes your psychosis worst. The doctors just pump you up full os drugs and there is no individual… therapy.

My daughter (13) was hospitalized with suicidal thoughts. She was admitted Tuesday about 9pm and turned around and release less than 72 hours later on Friday. We are now right back in the same spot with her days later.… There was nothing done for her. No changes in medication, no intensive treatment. How does anyone ethically release a child in less then 72 hours when that child has a history of severe trauma. Fully documented by her regular mental health provider and a release signed for access to her records!!! I don't care how far you need to travel do not go here for help!!! I will be lodging a formal complaint!
