Update•*** I have reviewed White River Medical Center in Batesville before, but after this experience, I feel compelled to update that review. First, credit where it is due. The nursing staff and assistants have been… compassionate, attentive, and professional. They have been the bright spot in an otherwise deeply frustrating experience. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the hospitalist service and the residents involved in my mother’s care. Calling White River a teaching hospital feels almost ironic, because based on what my family has experienced, very little teaching appears to be translating into competent, thoughtful patient care. Communication has been poor, clinical explanations have been lacking, and the advice we have received from some of the residents has left us questioning whether anyone is actually supervising the learning process. At times, the quality of medical judgment has been so disappointing that I have joked my mother might receive clearer advice and more experienced medical thinking in a prison infirmary. The sad part is that after watching how her care has been handled, the joke does not feel nearly as exaggerated as it should. A teaching hospital should mean patients benefit from multiple physicians, active supervision, discussion, and careful consideration. It should not mean that the patient becomes the practice field while families are left trying to figure out what the plan is. Residents are supposed to be learning. I understand that. What I do not understand is allowing that learning process to become the patient’s burden when supervision, communication, and sound medical decision making appear absent. The nurses have repeatedly demonstrated the professionalism and compassion you hope to see in a hospital. The physicians responsible for directing my mother’s care should take notes from them. White River may call itself a teaching hospital. From our experience, somebody needs to start teaching.
I have been here for six days and every single Doctor and nurse was very professional and and helpful, I will definitely tell everyone I know what a great experience it has been.
I went here several times and they keep saying I’m okay even after I had a motorcycle accident but after I had the accident and went to Searcy hospital and they found several things wrong with my back and was wondering… why this hospital said I was okay and let me leave
Sent me home after putting feeding tube in with hospice who didn't show up still unable to eat at home
Er doctor was rude as hell didn't even bother about my concern very rude as unprofessional made me like I didn't want to be there so I ended up walking out I came in for help and got nothing but disrespect
Tourcher comes to mind. Afraid to give pain meds when needed. Worst hospital I have ever been in...
This was our first time at White River Hospital with my husband being treated for heart problems. Every single doctor and employee was top notch, professional and friendly, especially Bailee our cardio nurse. Everything… was thoroughly explained and we were attended to and treated with outstanding care. I would highly recommend this facility based on my recent experience. The room was super clean and very nice too
I love this place they gave me cheese burgers every day (this was a year ago btw) I love this hospital they took care of me very well (with cheese burgers) 😊👍❤️
I've had 2 procedures at White River both were great. Dr. Edgecombs and staff are really efficient and great bedside care. Thank you!
I had a great experience with Joshua McIntosh, APRN, at the White River Health Orthopaedic Clinic. He genuinely took his time to thoroughly discuss my options rather than rushing me out the door. What really stood out… was that he called me back afterward because he thought of something else worth mentioning. That kind of follow-through is rare and shows he's clearly invested in his patients. Attentive, thorough, and truly caring. Highly recommend him if you need orthopaedic care in the area.
I had the spinal shot for my csection (which I said I didn't want) then as soon I felt cutting, I said I felt it. I was in pain, crying and shaking saying I feel it, I feel it. They pushed morphine that did NOTHING to… relieve the pain. I was so scared and in so much pain. I should've been put under, but I was left to sob on the table while I felt them removing my baby. They ignored it and said that no I didn't feel pain, I was just panicking. No, I wasn't. I felt actual PAIN and I was ignored. Let's not forget that they'll do permanent life changing surgery with no consultations on patients that obviously suffer depression. I'll never have another biological child of my own unless I do IVF and in my right mind I would not have consented to that surgery during my cesarean. I recieved no consultation, no counseling, nothing. Just signed papers and that was it. I'm in a better place mentally throigh therapy and hard work and I wish someone at that facility had SEEN me. Instead it was just another chance for them to get money and now I'll never hold another baby of my own.
They don’t take care of shit, they don’t care about you. My sister almost died with the baby as well giving birth. The doctor wasn’t present. Doctor came in once the babies heart was falling.
went and was diagnosed with the stomach bug, seriously thought i was going to die of dehydration, no IV, sent home still uncontrollably puking...go to heartling next day and get told i have food poisoning and was fixed… within a day. absolutey pathetic place to go, i will die before going here ever again. was mailed a 500+ bill for doing absolutely nothing.. i guess for getting to talk to the employees that all share the same brain cell in there
Thank the Good Lord that we have a facility to recieve medical care and God Bless The United States of America.
Very rude very rude the rest of the people in there take the job seriously and they're very nice. This is strictly overview for the nursing staff half of them are roosd and I've already had to make a complaint on one of… the charge nurses.
Thankful for having so many services available in our community!
I like the hospital other than their billing. I just recueved a bill for my b last visit. It show original cost 135.. insurance pay m eny of 56.. insurance rate adjustment of 29.. then balance is 165....a different sort… of math.. I asked for an itemized statement with coding info.. thet sent me c the same h I ng again.. I went in to the office and they can see more info and explain, but I can't seem to get it from them on a billing statement..
This place deserves less than the one Star minimum allowed for rating. My pregnant fiancée went in for blood work and an ultra sound. After 4 hours we managed to see 4 different phlebotomist that stuck her with an iv 6… different times in an attempt to get blood. Thats not even the kicker. The kicker is that they got blood at every stop, but kept sending others in saying, "we werent able to draw enough." But the lab phlebotomy that we saw the third time got an entire vile. Granted, my fiancée does have a small cardiovascular framework, but they are trained to do this specifically. When the fourth different phlebotomist came in a short time later to say they needed to stick her again, I couldn't refrain from telling him how utterly incompetent and ridiculous this experience was. Unacceptable. My fiancée became a walking pincushion. After this fiasco, we had burned 4 hours and I had to leave for work, so I was unable to stay with my fiancée for the ultra sound. The ultra sound tech seemed to not be able to work the machine. Left twice to "find her boss, because the machine wasn't acting right." The way she fumbled with it was immediately apparent that she was lost. It wasn't the machine. It was the operator. True story, if you love people, take them anywhere but here. This is not a hospital. This is a whole circus in our town. Unbelievable. They got these signs up everywhere talking about how great the service and care is there. We know who your donors and sponsors are. This is just my most recent experience, and God willing the last. If you love the people that are needing medical expertise, do not bring them here.
Made me wait over an hour and didn't helped at all
This sorry place doesn't even deserve one star Dr Van Grogh the cardiologist hung a stent inside of another stent inside of my dad and didn't even tell anybody which killed him the staff are under-educated they are rude… and disrespectful the place is full of staph MRSA they need to just shut that place down I mean it does nothing for anybody go to any hospital accept this one I've changed it to three stars because they did an excellent job with my mom and her knee replacement but can't excuse what happened before and they also Mistreat the mentally ill
I would not recommend the orthopedic part of this hospital the nurses are not helpful at all and are very hateful they let us wait all day for MRI results they new at 11:00 and then it took them over an hour and a half… or more to get us discharge papers. And to top it all off we did not even have to stay over night we could have went home the night before.
Went here by ambulance because it hurt too much to walk. The doctor was in there about 5 minutes and sent me home UNABLE TO WALK!! I was SCREAMING trying to get into my vehicle. THE SKIN ON MY FEET WAS LITERALLY TEARING… APART!! Yes they gave me pain meds (4 little hydrocodone tablets) but said I had to wait until I GOT HOME to take them. I WASNT EVEN DRIVING!! DO NOT GO HERE THIS PLACE IS RIDICULOUS AND THAT DOCTOR SHOULD BE FIRED!!!!
We had a unique emergency situation following a birth, Dr. Appleget and the entire OB staff were awesome! We left healed and restored, thanks and blessings to everyone involved!
awful. the nurses were nice though!
Several years ago, I was privately helping an older man who was in that hospital. His daughter lived out of state. They were supposed to be getting him up to do PT. They weren't doing it. Couldn't get no answers, so I… called his daughter and she came down here and when she questioned staff, they lied about everything I had told her. She knew they were lying. When she asked to see his Medical records, they never would show them to her. With being so incompetent for years and years, how do they get by with it? If you have a loved one in there, family needs to be there with them 24/7. If you can't be hire someone. It is a nightmare!
After reading the reviews I must admit I was a tad nervous. However, my experience with this ER & everyone I came in contact with was amazing 👏🏻. I was in and out within 2hrs of walking through the door. That was… intake, labs, ct scan & diagnosis.
