Sharing some info that may help alleviate frustration if you're WTC bound. You will only have access to your cellphone for 1 hour per week in a secure environment. Do NOT bring a laptop, iPad or any other electronic… device (to include a Smartwatch)...they will be confiscated and held as contraband until your discharge. Do NOT order any food, candy or snack from Amazon...they, too, will be confiscated as contraband. Bring a watch....just not a smartwatch. There are no clocks in the dorm and it's easy to become disoriented as far as time of day. You will have access to a phone room to check in with family and friends. Calls are limited to 10 minutes. If you're on prescription medication, bring it with you. Prepare to learn an awful lot about yourself and humanity (or the lack thereof) while in for treatment. Hang on to every word shared by faculty Ed and Grace. That's what I've kept with me. Also, if there's a craft you enjoy doing you might consider bringing it with you. There was an awful lot of coloring happening when was there. Hard copy books were available...but you might consider bringing your own. Good luck! May the odds be ever in your favor :)
Just spent 28 days here . Im sure there are worse places but you would really have to search to find one . There are a couple awsome counselors and techs but you have to get lucky to find them. Whatcthey tell you on… thephone and show in pictures is not real life . Detox building is what it is , decent food , it’s a hospital, they keep you alive while you withdrawl. The best program building here is the residential vuilding but most insurances dont allow you to go here . I was blessed to spend a week here . Here you have counselors who care , and you learn a TON. It is strick and you stay busy but the food is great and all but a couple staff techs ate good . The leader here Ms. Tiphani is great and counselor Anthony is really good . You dont get to stay in tgis building , you finish the majority of your 30-45 days in the last building. This is where it all goes south. You will have only a couple classes taht offer stuff of substance . It has to be illegal in some way . Classes can have 60-70 people , everyone talking , only about 15 minutes of learning them back to a 40 minute smoke break. They feed you like your a 5th grade who is getting government lunches . Some how I got clean and lost 13 pounds there in 14 days . The facilities a disgusting . Nothing gets sanitized and over half the people are coughing all day and sick due to this . It sure appears as insurance fraud . I’m asking for a itemized bill from my insurance just to see what they paid for a meal, and if they charged insurance for the medication I refused since day one .I will update !
This place is absolutely horrible. The things that the staff do to people, and the things they allow other patients to do to patients should be enough to get this place shut down. They give every other treatment center… that actually tries to help a bad name. To top it off the "owner" will reply to your review as if they will do anything about it. Do not be fooled as they do not care at all. See since they won't try to help the patients, I on the other hand have decided I will. I have contacted a state agency. The Quality Improvement organization to be exact. They are the people who the medical board puts you in contact with when there is a complaint that raises questions about patient safety, and privacy. The owners of this place should be pure ashamed of themselves, as well as the workers who allow this crap to go on.
⭐ 1/5 stars — and honestly, the star is doing charity work. If you're considering Wilmington Treatment Center, allow me to describe my experience, because apparently I accidentally enrolled in a combination of medical… detox, unpaid overnight caregiving, amateur home repair, and a disappearing-toiletries magic show. I came here as a patient seeking treatment. Somehow, during my stay, I found myself picking my roommate up off the floor in the middle of the night and, on another occasion, putting the wall/panel back onto the bathroom doorway after she went through it with her wheelchair. I would genuinely like to know where I submit my timesheet, because I appear to be missing a paycheck. And then we have The Case of the Vanishing Toiletry Bag. When I left, approximately $175 worth of my personal hygiene products and toiletries were missing—many of them BRAND NEW. Not one half-empty bottle of Suave and a toothbrush from 2019. I'm talking about nearly an entire toiletry bag of products I purchased with my own money and expected to leave with. So, to whoever ultimately ended up with my stuff: you're welcome, I guess. I hope my products work beautifully for you. Unfortunately, this was not a sponsored giveaway. And here's where it stops being funny. I went back to Wilmington Treatment Center IN PERSON about my missing belongings. The response I received? I had signed a paper at discharge saying everything was there, and essentially, that was all he had to say about it. And yes. I signed it. You got me. Congratulations. 🎉 Because apparently when you're being discharged from a treatment facility, you're expected to transform into a forensic inventory specialist and individually inspect every bottle, tube, container, hair product, hygiene product, and miscellaneous item inside your toiletry bag before signing your name. My mistake. I forgot my clipboard and barcode scanner. I wasn't standing there thinking, “Hold on everybody, nobody speak to me while I verify the chain of custody on my shampoo.” I was being discharged from treatment. People were talking to me. I was gathering my things. I saw my belongings and signed the paperwork I was given. Signing that paper does not magically make missing property reappear. And while I understand perfectly well why facilities use property forms and signatures, hiding behind a signature as the entire response when a former patient comes back saying roughly $175 worth of belongings are missing is exactly the kind of attitude future patients deserve to know about. There is a difference between saying, “Our records show you signed for your belongings, but let's see what we can find out,” and essentially saying, “You signed the paper. End of discussion.” The first is accountability and basic human decency. The second is apparently the customer-service equivalent of “sounds like a you problem.” People entering detox and treatment are already in an incredibly vulnerable position. They should be able to focus on getting better—not worry about whether their belongings will still exist when they're discharged, find themselves responsible for helping another patient off the floor in the middle of the night, or apparently add minor structural repair to their treatment plan. I went there for treatment and somehow came home with fewer belongings and additional unpaid work experience. ⭐ One star. I would give additional stars, but unfortunately they appear to have gone missing with the rest of my toiletries.
Kelly is an awesome counselor. We need more like her. Overall a great experience
My stay was great and it helped me in my recovery very much
Absolutely deplorable ethics and methods of treating addiction. As someone who has been in treatment in the past and in recovery over 15 yrs, I would not recommend this treatment facility or their methods.
Wilmington Treatment Center is the best. I had an awesome experience and they set me up for success in my recovery. They not only addressed the addiction but also the trauma as well. If you really want a good start with… Recovery they will definitely set you up to continue recovery and wellness. I absolutely recommend you give it a chance. You'll be grateful.
My son went here...horrible place but now they can't find his belongings and lost what he brought in with him. How does one do that. I will be placing calls into them either locating his belongings or refunding me asap… since everything he had I had purchased. So unprofessional
Excellent staff, comfortable living spaces and common areas. Great community to start your recovery journey.
Came in from Vermont to safely detox and start my recovery while escaping a domestic situation and they proved they could help me do that! Luv yall
Had a great experience. Highly recommended.
The only issue I had was the temperature in my room, it was freezing and I am congested with flem and coughing constantly
This place is not who they advertise and say that they are. The classes are great! I was taught a lot about my addiction and myself in general. I feel confident about my new road to recovery. My only problem was that I… felt very unsafe staying there. There’s no security at all. There are people there because of lawful reasons, jail etc. The counselors do security talks in classes, that’s all. They will tell you to be safe that they don’t want anything to happen to you. That’s BS! It’s their environment I also needed medicine for severe migraines. I was in pain. With my migraines I get blurry vision. Sometimes I can’t see. I had to ask people to lead me to chairs and rooms. I finally got my medicine after five days on my way out of checkout. They will also lose your personal belongings wallet , phone etc. They take those away from you on your way in. For security they could at least have security guards. One at each dorm at night and one in their main building during the day. There are also drugs coming in over the gates fentinol, crystal meth you name it. The reason for that is no security. They do not spend money on their place. Owners investors whom ever they are have to be all about keeping their money. The pain I was in with my my migraines and my eye sight put health in jeopardy. I left two days before my finish time mainly for that reason, and security.
Thisa beautiful place to come for treatment. The staff is here for you and some of the patients try to help you to recover.
I am surprised by the authenticity of this place. I am very happy I decided to come to this place. The staff is super friendly and supportive.
Please, for the love of God, if you care about you or your loved ones well-being, find another solution that going to WTC. This is the most deplorable place I have ever been. I have worked in recovery for years and went… after a relapse, and let’s just say I have put in a report with the Joint Commission and the Office of Civil Rights due to the conditions and their counselor, Leah, for a HIPPA violation. I have worked in treatment for years and have the upmost respect for the industry, but places like this should not be allowed to operate. Please for your own safety, do not come here. Go to Charlotte Recovery Center or Oasis in Asheville, just whatever you do, do not come to this hell on earth place.
I just completed the Wilmington treatment center detox program and I will say it was by far the worst treatment center I have ever been to. They are money hungry and pack people into the gills and are very under… staffed. It took me 3 days to get any of my belongings or clothing, and there were some people there with nothing but the clothes on their backs and they would refuse to go to the clothing donation closet for them. I will say the community really helped eachother out when it came to basic items and support because otherwise we would be alone. I saw them force people into PHP after only 1 day of detox. They drug people to the point where they are unable to walk, stand, or even sit up properly. A lot of the patients were comatose. I would not ever recommend spending your loved one here. Also, someone today when I was discharging drove over 300 miles to go there just for him to be turned down because they didnt accept his insurance. On the phone they told him he did. All they care about about is money, not patient care.
I will say that being in a treatment center is not a vacation but WTC, to me, made it as nonstressfull as possible. The staff was very attentive and my counselor Anna was very helpful. Not just to me but also to my… wife. I just want to say Thank you.
Great alumni working the snack bar. Fast and efficient
Staff was amazing always made me feel welcome and wanted amazing treatment center
This is the trump plaza treatment center is very good it's not what you think of is what you make it thanks to Kelly and a few other staff members 🙏💯 GO GO Wilmington treatment center .
Wilmington Treatment Center was a positive experience for me. Feel like they provided a lot of tools for success to accomplish a better life. Staff was great, especially Sean. Little issue with meds but solved promptly.… Everyone was very helpful and attentive. The alumni was a great help as well!
Just a wonder place to become educated to beating any form of addiction! Ed you are so awesome. And thank you so much for the education. Jacob you are so inspirational! Love you two! Sean love you too! Brother! You just… simply rock!
My sister is in there right now… they r so hateful to the patients… Rude… cussing… demanding… telling their patients they have to do this n do that… they take u from detox n immediately throw u into treatment.. dont… take u to ur room help u get settle in… so ur locked out ur rooms from 7:30 am until 4:30 pm… 7 days a week constant group.. individual treatment no break no nothing… besides breakfast… lunch n dinner… so they send u straight from detox doped up n high to go straight into groups… no time to allow the drugs the time to get out ur system so u can function n not fall asleep… very disappointment w as much money as it cost… treatment is time to find urself again to feel loved n not treated as a dog… just cause someone is struggling w an addiction… it’s like they belittle u just cause ur struggling to feel normal again…instead of bringing u up.. their constantly bringing their patients down… how r they supposed to succeed in recovery if their recovery is constant hell… the patients will leave there n go back to the streets… my sister is a nervous wreck n so upset n wants to leave.. she says it feels like a prison instead of a place hope.. encouragement n love to find healing from trams n addiction… He’ll she don’t know where half her things r…. They aren’t allowed special days form visitors w family… nothing… absolutely horrible.. the only plus is that from 4:30 to 7:39 the next morning they have to themselves… they should have enrichment… more positive approach… feel wanted accepted… to feel relaxed n loved… a place to heal but it’s far from that… the patients feelings r not took into consideration… they has to call me just to calm her down cause they were being so mean n hateful to her… n I told them then they were wrong n how upset n disappointed i was in their facility…
