Federal recognition covers different things depending on the program. SAMHSA certifies opioid treatment programs to dispense methadone, the DEA registers practitioners to prescribe controlled medications, and the federal government designates qualified health centers serving communities regardless of their ability to pay for care.

None of these say anything about therapy quality or how a place feels to be in. What they do tell you is which medications a provider can legally offer, which matters a great deal for opioid use disorder. Check that first, then compare on everything else.
