DEA Registered Prescribers for Addiction Treatment

DEA registration lets a clinician prescribe or dispense controlled medications, buprenorphine among them. Since the X-waiver requirement ended in 2023, any registered prescriber may treat opioid use disorder with buprenorphine, which opened up office-based care well beyond specialist clinics and hospital settings.
