Drug and Alcohol Rehab Centers in Colombia

Drug and alcohol rehab in Colombia draws patients from the US, Canada and Spain to private clinics in Medellín, Bogotá, Cartagena and Santa Marta, often at lower cost than at home. Medellín’s mild climate has made it a popular base for residential programs. Bogotá and Medellín are 153 miles apart, while Cartagena and Santa Marta sit on the Caribbean coast 106 miles from each other. Health providers in Colombia must enroll in REPS, the national register of health service providers. The capital is the main hub for international flights. We try to check listed providers against REPS and accreditation where published. Scroll down to browse.

Why Trust RehabSeekers.com?

RehabSeekers is an independent behavioral health directory covering drug and alcohol addiction and mental health treatment providers.

Every listing has a source: an official register, a licensing record, or details the facility sent us.

Credentials shown honestly. Accreditation, licensing and registration listed separately.

Reviews shown exactly as written. Never edited, never removed because a facility asked.

No commission, no referral fees. Nothing a facility pays for changes where it appears.

Contact details always go direct. Calls reach the facility itself, never a call centre.

Common questions about Colombia

Answered from what is listed here.

Who licenses rehab centers in Colombia?

Addiction treatment in Colombia counts as a health service, so a program must meet the habilitation standards of Resolution 3100 of 2019 and be entered in the Special Register of Health Service Providers (REPS), the national register, through the local health secretariat.

The National Health Superintendency (Supersalud), Colombia's national health regulator, can sanction Drug Addiction Care Centers that fail habilitation or audit conditions, under Law 1566 of 2012.

Does Colombia's public health system cover addiction treatment?

Colombia's General System of Social Security in Health (SGSSS) must include treatment for substance use disorders in its coverage plans under Law 1566 of 2012, in both the contributory and subsidized regimes.

Care is arranged through a health promoting entity (EPS), the member's health insurer, and members may owe income-linked copayments, though subsidized members pay no moderating fees.

State Funded Rehabhttps://rehabseekers.com/payment/state-funded/
Can a family force someone into rehab in Colombia?

Drug treatment in Colombia requires the person's informed consent under Article 49 of the Constitution, as amended by Legislative Act 02 of 2009, which allows preventive and rehabilitation measures while making consent a condition of undergoing them.

Rehab in Colombia runs through the national health system, where a person’s EPS insurer arranges assessment and referral, and through private providers paid directly. Every addiction service must be registered as a health provider. Outpatient treatment is listed at nearly all of the rehabs in Colombia, and residential care and hospital-based addiction treatment at about half.

Colombian listings are grouped by city, with pages for Bogotá, Medellín, Cartagena and Santa Marta. Elsewhere in the region, rehab is also listed in Costa Rica and Mexico.

The Colombian listings draw on public registers of health providers, licensing records, accreditation listings and descriptions that providers give of their own programs. Spanish is the treatment language at nearly all of them, and the national rules below apply in every city.
