Drug and Alcohol Rehab Centers in Mexico

Drug and alcohol rehab in Mexico serves many patients from the US, with private residential programs in Tijuana and Rosarito close to the California border, in the coastal resort cities of Cancún and Puerto Vallarta, and in Mexico City. Costs are typically lower than comparable US programs, and many centers work in English. Patients from the US can fly direct to Cancún, Puerto Vallarta and Mexico City, or drive across the border to Tijuana. We try to check listed providers against COFEPRIS and CONASAMA records, and CARF or JCI accreditation where published. Scroll down to browse by city.

Why Trust RehabSeekers.com?

RehabSeekers is an independent behavioral health directory covering drug and alcohol addiction and mental health treatment providers.

Every listing has a source: an official register, a licensing record, or details the facility sent us.

Credentials shown honestly. Accreditation, licensing and registration listed separately.

Reviews shown exactly as written. Never edited, never removed because a facility asked.

No commission, no referral fees. Nothing a facility pays for changes where it appears.

Contact details always go direct. Calls reach the facility itself, never a call centre.

Common questions about Mexico

Answered from what is listed here.

Is there a drug and alcohol helpline in Mexico?

Mexico's Línea de la Vida, the federal government's drug and alcohol helpline, answers on 800 911 2000, free of charge, 24 hours a day, every day of the year. The line is run by CONASAMA, Mexico's national commission for mental health and addictions, which also runs the country's public community addiction centers.

Recovery Support Serviceshttps://rehabseekers.com/support-services/recovery-support-services/
How is addiction treatment regulated in Mexico?

Official standard NOM-028-SSA2-2009 applies to every public, social and private addiction service in Mexico, and residential centers file an operating notice with COFEPRIS, the federal health regulator, or the state health authority.

CONASAMA, Mexico's national commission for mental health and addictions, grants a voluntary recognition status, so a center missing from its list is not necessarily unlicensed.

Rehab in Tijuanahttps://rehabseekers.com/locations/latin-america/mexico-mx/tijuana-mx/
Can someone be made to go to rehab in Mexico?

Inpatient admission for substance use in Mexico may only be voluntary under the General Health Law as reformed in May 2022, and every treatment needs prior informed consent, so family members cannot place an adult in residential care.

Drug and alcohol rehab in Mexico runs on two tracks: free community care through the network of CONASAMA, Mexico’s National Commission for Mental Health and Addictions, and private centers that people pay for themselves. Residential treatment is listed at most of the rehabs in Mexico, while outpatient care and detox each appear at about half of them.

Mexico’s listings are grouped by city, with pages for Cancún, Mexico City, Puerto Vallarta, Rosarito and Tijuana. Federal health rules apply in every state, so the standards described below hold wherever in the country a center is based. Rehab is also listed in Colombia and Costa Rica.

The Mexico listings draw on national recognition directories, health authority filings, government treatment records and information that centers send in themselves. Spanish-speaking treatment is listed at nearly all of them, so anyone who needs therapy in English or another language should raise it with a center before booking.
