Drug and Alcohol Rehabs in Felicita, Escondido, CA

Felicita sits in southwestern Escondido, along Felicita Avenue where the land drops toward Escondido Creek.

The name belongs to a person. Felicita La Chappa was a Kumeyaay woman whose family lived in this valley, and who became well known locally in her later years for her account of the San Pasqual battle of 1846.

Felicita County Park carries her name — 53 acres of oak woodland along the creek, one of the older parks in the county system, with the Kumeyaay presence in the valley long predating anything the town built.

Felicita Road and Juniper Street connect north into central Escondido, with Interstate 15 a few minutes west and the Del Dios Highway running southwest toward Lake Hodges.

The district is largely residential, quieter than the corridor around Grand Avenue and closer to the coastal cities than most of Escondido.

San Diego County recorded 340 fentanyl-caused deaths in 2025 against 802 in 2022, with overall overdose deaths falling 21 percent between 2023 and 2024.

For Native American residents across North County, the Indian Health Council operates a behavioral health department from its Rincon health center in Valley Center, serving nine federally recognized consortium tribes.

Methamphetamine remains the county’s longest-tracked substance, addressed through a strike force operating since 1996.

Which Level of Care Do You Need

Felicita’s southwestern position opens up Encinitas as well as Escondido, and the two offer very different things. Counts come from the federal SAMHSA treatment locator.

Medically Supervised Detox

Detox manages withdrawal under clinical observation across several days. Around six detox programs sit between Escondido and Encinitas, of roughly 39 across San Diego County, five of them residential detox.

Inpatient Residential Treatment

Residential care means living on site for weeks or months. Around eight residential programs sit within 25 minutes — five in Encinitas and three in Escondido — though on very different payment terms.

Outpatient, IOP and PHP Treatment

Outpatient care lets you live at home while attending sessions. Around 14 outpatient and three IOP programs sit within reach, with roughly three partial hospitalization programs, most of them coastal.

Dual Diagnosis and Co-Occurring Disorders Treatment

Dual diagnosis care treats a substance use disorder and a mental health condition together. Around ten programs within reach treat co-occurring serious mental illness — six in Encinitas and four in Escondido — which is a strong position by North County standards.

Sober Living Homes and Transitional Living

Sober living homes provide substance-free housing after formal treatment ends. Escondido has one listed federally, and inland rents make a longer stay far more achievable than on the coast. California residences are certified by the California Consortium of Addiction Programs and Professionals.

Addiction Treatment Cost and Insurance Coverage

Felicita sits at the point where two markets meet, and which direction you drive changes the price more than which program you choose.

How Much Does Addiction Rehab Cost in Felicita

Outpatient care within reach of Felicita runs roughly $1,200 to $5,000 a month and IOP $3,000 to $10,000, with detox at $7,000 to $24,000 and residential at $6,000 to $45,000. Around ten programs accept Medicaid, all of them in Escondido rather than on the coast.

Native American residents may be eligible for care through tribal health programs regardless of other coverage, and the Indian Health Council in Valley Center delivers behavioral health services alongside medical and dental care.

American Indian and Alaska Native people enrolled in Medi-Cal are exempt from certain cost-sharing requirements, and care received through a tribal health program does not require a referral from a county plan.

Free and State-Funded Addiction Rehab in Felicita, Escondido

San Diego County runs publicly funded treatment through the Drug Medi-Cal Organized Delivery System, which assesses clinical need against national criteria.

Escondido carries the largest share of that provision in North County.

The County Access and Crisis Line on 888-724-7240 is free, confidential and open at any hour, and refers anywhere in the county. Dialing 2-1-1 reaches the same network.

Around 43 county programs run sliding fee scales. The Indian Health Council on Golsh Road in Valley Center provides behavioral health services to members of its nine consortium tribes, and A New PATH distributes free naloxone countywide.

More Help and Recovery Support

Palomar Medical Center Escondido is around ten minutes north, the only designated trauma center in northern San Diego County. Scripps Memorial Hospital Encinitas is roughly 25 minutes west via the Del Dios Highway.

Alcoholics Anonymous meets daily across Escondido through the San Diego Central Office, with Spanish-language groups available. Narcotics Anonymous operates through the San Diego–Imperial Counties Region, and Wellbriety and other culturally grounded recovery approaches are available through tribal health programs in North County.
