Top Bel Air Drug and Alcohol Addiction Centers

Bel Air was laid out in 1923 by Alphonzo Bell, an oil man who spent his Santa Fe Springs money on a gated estate district in the Santa Monica Mountains. Seclusion was the entire point. Each listing is checked against SAMHSA records, California DHCS licensing and, where applicable, Joint Commission or CARF accreditation. Licensing and accreditation are separate, and a provider may hold one without the other. Work through the Bel Air listings below.

Drug and Alcohol Rehabs in Bel Air, CA

Bel Air was laid out in 1923 by Alphonzo Bell, an oil man who used his Santa Fe Springs money to build a gated estate district in the Santa Monica Mountains.

The east and west gates on Sunset Boulevard still stand, and the roads behind them wind up canyons with no through route and no sidewalks.

The Bel Air Fire of November 1961 destroyed 484 homes here in a single day and led directly to California’s ban on untreated wood shingle roofs — a piece of fire policy that came out of these hills.

The Hotel Bel-Air has operated on Stone Canyon Road since 1946, and UCLA sits at the foot of the neighborhood.

Sunset Boulevard and the 405 provide the only practical access, with Brentwood west and Westwood south.

Los Angeles County recorded 2,298 accidental drug overdose and poisoning deaths in 2025, a 6 percent fall from the previous year and the third consecutive annual decline, according to the county Department of Public Health. Deaths are down nearly 30 percent from the 2022 peak of 3,220, driven by a more than 40 percent reduction in fentanyl-related deaths.

Gated and affluent communities are not exempt from any of this. Privacy makes substance use easier to sustain unnoticed rather than less likely to occur.

Which Level of Care Do You Need

Los Angeles County holds around 609 listed treatment programs, 286 of which accept Medicaid and 35 of which are licensed opioid treatment programs — by a wide margin the deepest publicly funded provision in Southern California. Counts come from the federal SAMHSA treatment locator.

Medically Supervised Detox

Detox manages withdrawal under clinical observation across several days. Around 26 detox programs operate across the city of Los Angeles, with five in Santa Monica and hospital capacity at UCLA minutes south.

Inpatient Residential Treatment

Residential care means living on site for weeks or months, and from a canyon address with a single access road it removes the daily drive entirely. Around 39 residential programs operate across the city.

Outpatient, IOP and PHP Treatment

Outpatient care asks for repeated attendance down winding canyon roads. Around 99 outpatient and 21 partial hospitalization programs operate across the city, and 442 of the county’s 609 offer telehealth.

Dual Diagnosis and Co-Occurring Disorders Treatment

Dual diagnosis care treats a substance use disorder and a mental health condition together rather than one after the other. Around 187 county programs treat co-occurring serious mental illness, with UCLA’s Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital at the foot of the hill.

Sober Living Homes and Transitional Living

Sober living homes provide substance-free housing after formal treatment ends. None operate in these hills. Certification of California recovery residences is by the California Consortium of Addiction Programs and Professionals.

Addiction Treatment Cost and Insurance Coverage

Cost is rarely the constraint here. Privacy and the willingness to travel usually are.

How Much Does Addiction Rehab Cost in Bel Air

Outpatient care within reach runs roughly $1,200 to $5,000 a month and IOP $3,000 to $10,000, with detox at $7,000 to $24,000 and residential at $6,000 to $45,000. Luxury residential across Los Angeles County commonly runs $30,000 to $90,000 or more a month.

Premium does not automatically mean better clinical outcomes. Worth asking what license a program holds under Health and Safety Code section 11834.015, whether a physician is on site, and what happens if someone needs a hospital.

Yes. Federal parity law requires most health plans to cover substance use treatment on terms comparable to medical care. Across Los Angeles County around 286 programs accept Medicaid, 203 accept Medicare and 181 run sliding fee scales.

Out-of-network billing is standard at premium residential programs, and requesting a written verification of benefits before admission produces a more useful answer than asking for the advertised price. Los Angeles County provides no-cost substance use treatment at any provider in its network for anyone who meets the criteria, regardless of immigration status, and an intake appointment should be scheduled within ten calendar days of a screening.

Free and State-Funded Addiction Rehab in Bel Air, CA

Los Angeles County delivers publicly funded treatment through its Drug Medi-Cal Organized Delivery System, administered by the Department of Public Health’s Bureau of Substance Abuse Prevention and Control.

Where you live has no bearing on eligibility.

More Help and Recovery Support

Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center in Westwood is a Level I trauma center minutes south, with the Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital alongside it.

Alcoholics Anonymous meets daily across Brentwood, Westwood and Beverly Hills through the Los Angeles Central Office, and attending outside your own community is entirely normal. Narcotics Anonymous operates through the Southern California Region, and online meetings remove the recognition problem altogether.
