Drug and Alcohol Rehabs in Cerritos, CA

Cerritos incorporated in 1956 as Dairy Valley, a city created specifically so dairy farmers could keep their herds inside a municipal boundary and out of reach of encroaching subdivisions.

It worked for about a decade. The dairies sold, the name changed in 1967, and the city rebuilt itself as a planned suburb around the Los Cerritos Center.

The Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts opened in 1993 and the public library was rebuilt in 2002 with a titanium exterior, both funded by the sales tax revenue from the auto square on the 605.

On 31 August 1986 an Aeroméxico DC-9 collided with a light aircraft over the city and fell into a residential street, killing 82 people including 15 on the ground. The disaster led directly to mandatory collision avoidance systems on US airliners.

The 605, 91 and 5 all pass close, with Lakewood west and La Mirada north.

Los Angeles County recorded 2,298 accidental drug overdose and poisoning deaths in 2025, a 6 percent fall from the previous year and the third consecutive annual decline, according to the county Department of Public Health. Deaths are down nearly 30 percent from the 2022 peak of 3,220, driven by a more than 40 percent reduction in fentanyl-related deaths.

Cerritos is now majority Asian American, with large Korean, Chinese, Filipino and South Asian communities.

Which Level of Care Do You Need

Cerritos carries a single listed program, with Norwalk, Downey and Long Beach nearby. Counts come from the federal SAMHSA treatment locator.

Medically Supervised Detox

Detox manages withdrawal under clinical observation across several days. None operate in Cerritos; around two sit in Norwalk and four in Downey within fifteen minutes.

Inpatient Residential Treatment

Residential care means living on site for weeks or months. None are listed locally — around nine sit in Downey and 21 in Long Beach, of roughly 222 across the county.

Outpatient, IOP and PHP Treatment

Outpatient care lets you keep working while attending sessions. The Cerritos program offers outpatient care, with around 25 more within fifteen minutes.

Dual Diagnosis and Co-Occurring Disorders Treatment

Dual diagnosis care treats a substance use disorder and a mental health condition together rather than one after the other. The local program treats co-occurring serious mental illness, with seven more in Downey.

Sober Living Homes and Transitional Living

Sober living homes provide substance-free housing after formal treatment ends. Certification of California recovery residences is by the California Consortium of Addiction Programs and Professionals rather than the state.

Addiction Treatment Cost and Insurance Coverage

Language access is the practical question in a city where a majority of residents speak an Asian language at home.

How Much Does Addiction Rehab Cost in Cerritos

Outpatient care within reach runs roughly $1,200 to $5,000 a month and IOP $3,000 to $10,000, with detox at $7,000 to $24,000 and residential at $6,000 to $45,000. The Cerritos program accepts Medicaid and Medicare, with 36 more accepting programs within fifteen minutes.

Cultural stigma around substance use and mental health is documented in several Asian American communities, and reluctance within a family is frequently a larger obstacle than cost. Interpretation is a legal requirement for any program receiving federal funding. Los Angeles County provides no-cost substance use treatment at any provider in its network for anyone who meets the criteria, regardless of immigration status, and an intake appointment should be scheduled within ten calendar days of a screening.
