Top Chinatown Drug and Alcohol Addiction Centers

Los Angeles Chinatown is not where it started. The original settlement stood where Union Station now sits and was demolished in the 1930s to build it. New Chinatown opened in 1938 a few blocks north. Each listing is checked against SAMHSA records, California DHCS licensing and, where applicable, Joint Commission or CARF accreditation. Providers in Alhambra and Arcadia appear under their own pages. Not every good program seeks accreditation. Start with the Chinatown listings below.

Every listing has a source: an official register, a licensing record, or details the facility sent us.

Credentials shown honestly. Accreditation, licensing and registration listed separately.

Reviews shown exactly as written. Never edited, never removed because a facility asked.

No commission, no referral fees. Nothing a facility pays for changes where it appears.

Contact details always go direct. Calls reach the facility itself, never a call centre.

Common questions about Chinatown

Answered from what is listed here.

Which neighborhoods near Chinatown have treatment listed?

The Arts District, about 3 miles away, is the nearest neighborhood to Chinatown with its own listings, and it is an easy trip for anyone comparing facilities across central Los Angeles County.

Echo Park, Westlake and Silver Lake also carry listings, so someone who wants a particular level of care has options a short drive north or west of Chinatown.

Rehabs in Arts Districthttps://rehabseekers.com/locations/us/california/southern-california/los-angeles/arts-district/
Is partial hospitalization listed in Chinatown, Los Angeles?

Partial hospitalization is listed in Chinatown, Los Angeles, along with detox, residential, intensive outpatient, standard outpatient, sober living and telehealth. Listings name the California Department of Health Care Services licensing each facility holds and the levels actually run on site.

Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP)https://rehabseekers.com/programs/outpatient/php/
Is there rehab for pregnant women in Chinatown, Los Angeles?

Pregnancy-specific treatment is listed in Chinatown, Los Angeles, where the same facilities also flag programs for women, couples, veterans, older adults and young adults, with detox, residential and outpatient levels listed across Los Angeles County.

Medication-assisted and co-occurring care sit in the same listings. Medi-Cal, Medicare, TRICARE and private insurance are named, and sliding scale, free and state-funded places are flagged where they apply.

Rehab for Pregnant Womenhttps://rehabseekers.com/specialized/rehab-for-pregnant-women/

Drug and Alcohol Rehabs in Chinatown, CA

Los Angeles Chinatown is not where it started. The original settlement stood where Union Station now sits, and was demolished in the 1930s to build it.

New Chinatown opened on North Broadway in 1938, and it was the first Chinatown in the United States owned by the Chinese community itself rather than leased from others.

Central Plaza with its gates and neon still functions as the ceremonial heart, and the neighborhood retains an older Chinese American population alongside newer arrivals and, more recently, galleries and restaurants drawn by the rents.

The Los Angeles State Historic Park occupies the former rail yard on the eastern edge, opened in 2017 after two decades of community campaigning.

North Broadway, Cesar Chavez Avenue and the 110 connect it, with Downtown LA immediately south.

Los Angeles County recorded 2,298 accidental drug overdose and poisoning deaths in 2025, a 6 percent fall from the previous year and the third consecutive annual decline, according to the county Department of Public Health. Deaths are down nearly 30 percent from the 2022 peak of 3,220, driven by a more than 40 percent reduction in fentanyl-related deaths.

Chinatown has an older median age than most of central Los Angeles, and county data recorded a 14 percent rise in overdose deaths among adults aged 65 and over in 2025 against the downward trend elsewhere.

Which Level of Care Do You Need

Los Angeles County holds around 609 listed treatment programs, 286 of which accept Medicaid and 35 of which are licensed opioid treatment programs — by a wide margin the deepest publicly funded provision in Southern California. The city of Los Angeles alone carries around 137. Counts come from the federal SAMHSA treatment locator.

Medically Supervised Detox

Detox manages withdrawal under clinical observation, and in older adults alcohol or benzodiazepine withdrawal can complicate existing conditions. The city carries around 26 detox programs, of roughly 122 across the county.

Inpatient Residential Treatment

Residential care means living on site for weeks or months. Around 39 residential programs operate in the city, of roughly 222 countywide.

Outpatient, IOP and PHP Treatment

Outpatient care lets you sleep at home, which most older adults strongly prefer. The city carries around 99 outpatient and 30 intensive outpatient programs, with 95 of its 137 offering telehealth.

Dual Diagnosis and Co-Occurring Disorders Treatment

Dual diagnosis care treats a substance use disorder and a mental health condition together rather than one after the other. Bereavement and isolation are common drivers in later life, and around 54 city programs treat co-occurring serious mental illness.

Sober Living Homes and Transitional Living

Sober living homes provide substance-free housing after formal treatment ends. Certification of California recovery residences is by the California Consortium of Addiction Programs and Professionals rather than the state.

Addiction Treatment Cost and Insurance Coverage

Language access and Medicare are the two practical questions here, and Los Angeles County answers both better than its neighbors.

How Much Does Addiction Rehab Cost in Chinatown

Outpatient care across the city runs roughly $1,200 to $5,000 a month and IOP $3,000 to $10,000, with detox at $7,000 to $24,000 and residential at $6,000 to $45,000. Around 47 city programs accept Medicare and 72 accept Medicaid.

Interpretation is a legal requirement for any program receiving federal funding. If a program cannot serve you directly in Cantonese, Mandarin or another language, it should arrange an interpreter rather than turn you away. Los Angeles County provides no-cost substance use treatment at any provider in its network for anyone who meets the criteria, regardless of immigration status, and an intake appointment should be scheduled within ten calendar days of a screening.

Standard rehab and detox, Chinatown and the city market

IOP$3,000 – $10,000$100 – $330
Outpatient$1,200 – $5,000$40 – $170
Luxury and executive programs, Los Angeles County

PHP$15,000 – $35,000$500 – $1,150
IOP$9,000 – $24,000$300 – $800
Outpatient$5,000 – $15,000$170 – $500

Does Insurance Cover Rehab in Chinatown

Yes. Medicare covers substance use treatment, and federal parity law requires most other plans to cover it on terms comparable to medical care. Across the city around 72 programs accept Medicaid and 47 accept Medicare, with 203 Medicare-accepting programs countywide.

Dual eligibility for Medicare and Medi-Cal is common on a fixed income and opens considerably more doors than either alone. Prescribed medication should be raised with a physician rather than stopped abruptly.

Free and State-Funded Addiction Rehab in Chinatown, CA

Los Angeles County delivers publicly funded treatment through its Drug Medi-Cal Organized Delivery System, administered by the Department of Public Health’s Bureau of Substance Abuse Prevention and Control.

Treatment through the county network is provided at no cost to anyone meeting the criteria, regardless of immigration status.

The LA County Help Line on 800-854-7771 is free, confidential and staffed 24 hours a day, with translation available, and anyone can call — including a family member rather than the person themselves.

Around 181 county programs run sliding fee scales, and the LA County Aging and Disabilities Department can assist with arranging care for an older adult.

More Help and Recovery Support

LAC+USC Medical Center is around ten minutes east and is one of the busiest public hospitals in the country, with a Level I trauma center. Good Samaritan Hospital sits southwest of downtown.

Alcoholics Anonymous meets daily across Chinatown and Downtown LA through the Los Angeles Central Office, including daytime groups that suit retired members. Narcotics Anonymous operates through the Southern California Region, and Chinatown Service Center and similar organizations can help with referrals in Chinese.
