Drug and Alcohol Rehabs in Compton, CA

Compton incorporated in 1888, making it one of the oldest cities in Los Angeles County — only Los Angeles and Pasadena came first.

It was founded by Griffith Dickenson Compton, who led thirty families south from Stockton in 1867, and it remained a farming town into the twentieth century.

Restrictive covenants kept it white until the 1950s. When those fell, Compton became a center of Black civic and cultural life in Southern California, electing one of California’s first Black mayors in 1969.

The city is now majority Latino, and both communities share its schools and civic institutions. The Compton Creek greenway and Heritage House mark different parts of that history.

The 91, 105 and 710 all pass close, with the Metro A Line running through.

Los Angeles County recorded 2,298 accidental drug overdose and poisoning deaths in 2025, a 6 percent fall from the previous year and the third consecutive annual decline, according to the county Department of Public Health. Deaths are down nearly 30 percent from the 2022 peak of 3,220, driven by a more than 40 percent reduction in fentanyl-related deaths.

The county’s own analysis found fentanyl overdose death rates nearly four times higher in its least affluent areas — those where more than 30 percent of families live below the federal poverty level — than in its most affluent, at 39.1 against 10.0 per 100,000 in 2024. Compton sits firmly in the first of those categories, and county data records Black residents as disproportionately represented in overdose deaths.

Which Level of Care Do You Need

Compton carries around three listed programs, with the surrounding county provision minutes away. Counts come from the federal SAMHSA treatment locator.

Medically Supervised Detox

Detox manages withdrawal under clinical observation across several days. None operate in Compton; around 122 detox programs sit across Los Angeles County, with capacity in Long Beach and Downey nearby.

Inpatient Residential Treatment

Residential care means living on site for weeks or months. None are listed in Compton itself — around 21 sit in Long Beach and nine in Downey within twenty minutes.

Outpatient, IOP and PHP Treatment

Outpatient care lets you keep working while attending sessions. Compton carries around three outpatient programs, all three of which provide services in Spanish.

Dual Diagnosis and Co-Occurring Disorders Treatment

Dual diagnosis care treats a substance use disorder and a mental health condition together rather than one after the other. One local program treats co-occurring serious mental illness, of roughly 187 across the county.

Sober Living Homes and Transitional Living

Sober living homes provide substance-free housing after formal treatment ends. Certification of California recovery residences is by the California Consortium of Addiction Programs and Professionals rather than the state.

Addiction Treatment Cost and Insurance Coverage

Two of Compton’s three listed programs accept Medi-Cal, and the county system is the deepest in Southern California.

How Much Does Addiction Rehab Cost in Compton

Outpatient care within reach runs roughly $1,200 to $5,000 a month and IOP $3,000 to $10,000, with detox at $7,000 to $24,000 and residential at $6,000 to $45,000. Around two local programs accept Medicaid and all three provide services in Spanish.

Los Angeles County provides no-cost substance use treatment at any provider in its network for anyone who meets the criteria, regardless of immigration status, and an intake appointment should be scheduled within ten calendar days of a screening. A screening on the county help line costs nothing and requires no insurance.
