Court Ordered Rehab Centers in Los Angeles

A Los Angeles judge can make treatment a condition of probation, a sentence or a diversion agreement, and Los Angeles County runs a public treatment system that works directly with the Superior Court. Court-ordered listings in the area are mostly urban, at 77 percent. Another 88 percent sit within 25 miles of the Pacific coast, a median of 11 miles from the shoreline.

Listings on RehabSeekers.com come from government treatment registers, state licensing records, accreditor listings and details the providers send in. Use them to build a shortlist, then ask your attorney or supervising officer which programs the court will accept.

Common questions about Court Ordered Rehab, Los Angeles

Answered from what is listed here.

Which Los Angeles areas have court ordered rehabs?

Lancaster comes first among the places where court ordered rehab listings cluster around Los Angeles, followed by Woodland Hills, Pasadena, Los Angeles itself and San Pedro. Before enrolling, confirming with the court or a probation officer that a chosen program meets the order's requirements avoids having to switch programs later.

Rehab Centers in Woodland Hillshttps://rehabseekers.com/locations/us/california/southern-california/los-angeles/woodland-hills/
Do court ordered rehabs in Los Angeles take Medi-Cal?

Medi-Cal coverage for court ordered rehab in Los Angeles depends on the program, and about half of the court ordered rehab programs in Los Angeles accept it. A court order does not change how coverage works, so the program itself must accept Medi-Cal.

Asking intake staff to confirm Medi-Cal acceptance, and whether the program can send attendance reports to the court, covers both payment and compliance before the first appointment.

Treatment Centers in Los Angeles That Accept Medi-Calhttps://rehabseekers.com/locations/us/california/southern-california/los-angeles/medi-cal-los-angeles/
Are there court ordered rehabs near a river in Los Angeles?

The Los Angeles River, South Fork Santa Clara River and North Fork San Gabriel River are the most-named rivers near court ordered rehab programs in Los Angeles. Most of the court ordered rehab programs in Los Angeles have a river within 25 miles, the nearest a median of about 16.8 miles from listed facilities.

How does a court order someone into treatment in Los Angeles?

In Los Angeles, most treatment orders come from criminal cases, through probation or sentencing conditions, pretrial diversion, or one of the county’s collaborative courts. The county Department of Public Health’s Substance Abuse Prevention and Control office works with the Los Angeles Superior Court on these courts.

The courts involved include the Adult Drug Court, the Sentenced Offender Drug Court and the Community Collaborative Courts. At the state level, the Judicial Council of California oversees evaluation of the collaborative justice courts that superior courts run. Most orders start with an assessment that leads to a named level of care and a minimum time in treatment.

DUI cases usually lead to a first offender or multiple offender program licensed by the California Department of Health Care Services. For those programs, see DUI and DWI programs in Los Angeles. Civil commitment is a separate route that runs through county mental health services rather than a criminal judge.

Whether a given program satisfies an order is up to the judge, the court program or a probation officer, so check before enrolling. Progress reports reach the court only with your signed consent, and anyone taking medication for opioid use disorder should raise it early with an attorney.

Is civil commitment the same as a court order?

Civil commitment under California’s Lanterman-Petris-Short Act is a separate route from a criminal order. SB 43 has been in effect in Los Angeles County since January 2026. Under SB 43, a severe substance use disorder can count toward the gravely disabled standard. Those cases go through county mental health services, not a criminal sentencing judge.

Will a Los Angeles court accept any licensed treatment program?

Acceptance is decided by the judge, the court program or your probation officer, so ask before you enroll. The DHCS Licensing and Certification Division licenses outpatient, residential and narcotic treatment programs. Residential programs also need a DHCS Level of Care Designation or ASAM certification, and you can look these up through DHCS.

A Los Angeles order usually calls for an assessment first, then names a level of care and a minimum length. Options include detox in Los Angeles, where withdrawal can be medically serious and needs supervision. Other levels are residential care, intensive outpatient and standard outpatient programs.

Attendance and progress reports can reach the court only with your signed consent under the federal confidentiality rules for substance use records (42 CFR Part 2). Ask intake staff whether they send reports and in what format. If you take medication for opioid use disorder, raise it early with your attorney and the court program, because rules on medication can differ.

How do you pay for court-ordered treatment in Los Angeles?

Medi-Cal covers substance use treatment in Los Angeles County through county-contracted providers that SAPC coordinates. Local Medi-Cal plans include L.A. Care Health Plan, Health Net Community Solutions and Kaiser Permanente. The Substance Abuse Service Helpline (SASH), 1.844.804.7500, and SAPC’s Service and Bed Availability Tool show open public slots. The listings also flag state-funded programs, sliding-scale fees and private insurance, along with accreditation, languages and populations served.

Getting to sessions is part of compliance. Metro bus and rail serve most of the county, though many trips combine a rail line with a bus. Hollywood Burbank Airport is the most common nearest airport to these listings, at a median of 8.6 miles. The Los Angeles River is the most frequent nearby river.

What happens if you miss sessions?

Consequences for missed sessions are set by the judge and vary from case to case. Tell your attorney or supervising officer quickly if you can’t attend. For support at any hour, the county Department of Mental Health Help Line is (800) 854-7771. You can also call the DHCS treatment referral line at (800) 879-2772, or call or text 988.

For statewide rules and options, see court-ordered rehab across California, or browse all treatment listings in Los Angeles.
