Drug and Alcohol Rehabs in Granada Hills, CA

Granada Hills sits at the northern edge of the San Fernando Valley, below the Santa Susana and San Gabriel foothills.

It was subdivided from a ranch in 1927 and marketed on its walnut and orange groves, and it built out through the 1950s as one of the Valley’s more spacious suburbs.

O’Melveny Park on the northern boundary is the second largest park in the city of Los Angeles, with trails climbing into the foothills from a former ranch estate.

The 1994 Northridge earthquake ruptured a gas main on Balboa Boulevard here, and the resulting fire — burning while a water main flooded the same street — produced some of the most widely seen images of the disaster.

Balboa Boulevard, Chatsworth Street and the 118 connect it, with Northridge south and Sylmar east.

Los Angeles County recorded 2,298 accidental drug overdose and poisoning deaths in 2025, a 6 percent fall from the previous year and the third consecutive annual decline, according to the county Department of Public Health. Deaths are down nearly 30 percent from the 2022 peak of 3,220, driven by a more than 40 percent reduction in fentanyl-related deaths.

One figure from that analysis stands apart. While overdose deaths fell across almost every age group in 2025, deaths among adults aged 65 and over rose 14 percent.

Which Level of Care Do You Need

Granada Hills carries around two listed programs, with Northridge and Reseda minutes south. Counts come from the federal SAMHSA treatment locator.

Medically Supervised Detox

Detox manages withdrawal under clinical observation, and in older adults alcohol or benzodiazepine withdrawal can complicate existing cardiac and hepatic conditions. Granada Hills carries one detox program with a hospital inpatient option.

Inpatient Residential Treatment

Residential care means living on site for weeks or months. Two residential programs operate here, with far more across the Valley corridor south, of roughly 222 countywide.

Outpatient, IOP and PHP Treatment

Outpatient care lets you sleep at home, which most older adults strongly prefer. The county carries around 395 outpatient programs, 203 of which accept Medicare.

Dual Diagnosis and Co-Occurring Disorders Treatment

Dual diagnosis care treats a substance use disorder and a mental health condition together rather than one after the other. Bereavement, isolation and late-onset depression are common drivers in later life, and around 187 county programs treat co-occurring serious mental illness.

Sober Living Homes and Transitional Living

Sober living homes provide substance-free housing after formal treatment ends. They are rarely the relevant option for long-settled homeowners here, though transitional housing exists across the Valley.

Addiction Treatment Cost and Insurance Coverage

Los Angeles County carries 203 Medicare-accepting programs, far more than any neighboring county, and that matters given the rise in older-adult deaths.

How Much Does Addiction Rehab Cost in Granada Hills

Outpatient care within reach runs roughly $1,200 to $5,000 a month and IOP $3,000 to $10,000, with detox at $7,000 to $24,000 and residential at $6,000 to $45,000. Both Granada Hills programs accept TRICARE and run sliding fee scales; neither accepts Medicaid or Medicare, though Reseda nearby carries seven and five.

Medicare Part A covers inpatient treatment and Part B covers outpatient, both subject to deductibles and coinsurance. Dual eligibility for Medicare and Medi-Cal is common on a fixed income and opens more doors than either alone.

Does Insurance Cover Rehab in Granada Hills

Yes. Medicare covers substance use treatment, and federal parity law requires most other plans to cover it on terms comparable to medical care. Within fifteen minutes around seven programs accept Medicaid and five accept Medicare.

Prescribed medication should be raised with a physician rather than stopped abruptly. Benzodiazepine withdrawal in particular should be medically managed, and a supervised taper is safer than a sudden stop. Los Angeles County provides no-cost substance use treatment at any provider in its network for anyone who meets the criteria, regardless of immigration status, and an intake appointment should be scheduled within ten calendar days of a screening.

Free and State-Funded Addiction Rehab in Granada Hills, CA

Los Angeles County delivers publicly funded treatment through its Drug Medi-Cal Organized Delivery System, administered by the Department of Public Health’s Bureau of Substance Abuse Prevention and Control.

Dual eligibility for Medicare and Medi-Cal opens the widest set of options.

The LA County Help Line on 800-854-7771 is free, confidential and staffed 24 hours a day, and also handles mental health referrals.

Around 181 county programs run sliding fee scales, and the LA County Aging and Disabilities Department can help with arranging care for an older adult.

More Help and Recovery Support

Northridge Hospital Medical Center is around ten minutes south with a full emergency department, and Providence Holy Cross Medical Center in Sylmar is a similar distance east.

Alcoholics Anonymous runs daytime meetings across Granada Hills and Northridge through the San Fernando Valley Central Office, which suit retired members better than evening groups. Narcotics Anonymous operates through the Southern California Region, and the O’Melveny Park trails run from the northern edge.
