Drug and Alcohol Rehabs in Lynwood, CA

Lynwood was named for Lynn Wood Sessions, the wife of a dairy owner, when the town was laid out around his creamery in 1913.

The city incorporated in 1921 and was a white working-class suburb until the 1970s. It is now around nine tenths Latino, one of the sharpest demographic transformations in Los Angeles County.

St. Francis Medical Center on Imperial Highway is one of the busiest emergency departments in the region, serving a large area of southeast Los Angeles County with limited alternatives.

Plaza Mexico on Long Beach Boulevard was rebuilt in the 2000s as a commercial center explicitly modeled on Mexican civic architecture.

The 105 and 710 cross here, with South Gate north and Compton south.

Los Angeles County recorded 2,298 accidental drug overdose and poisoning deaths in 2025, a 6 percent fall from the previous year and the third consecutive annual decline, according to the county Department of Public Health. Deaths are down nearly 30 percent from the 2022 peak of 3,220, driven by a more than 40 percent reduction in fentanyl-related deaths.

The county’s own analysis found fentanyl overdose death rates nearly four times higher in its least affluent areas — those where more than 30 percent of families live below the federal poverty level — than in its most affluent, at 39.1 against 10.0 per 100,000 in 2024. Lynwood sits firmly in the first of those categories.

Dual Diagnosis and Co-Occurring Disorders Treatment

Dual diagnosis care treats a substance use disorder and a mental health condition together rather than one after the other. One local program treats co-occurring serious mental illness, with seven more in Downey.

Sober Living Homes and Transitional Living

Sober living homes provide substance-free housing after formal treatment ends. Certification of California recovery residences is by the California Consortium of Addiction Programs and Professionals rather than the state.

Addiction Treatment Cost and Insurance Coverage

All seven Lynwood programs provide services in Spanish, and four accept Medi-Cal.
