Drug and Alcohol Rehabs in Pico Rivera, CA

Pico Rivera was created in 1958 by merging two towns — Pico and Rivera — that had grown either side of the San Gabriel River.

Pío Pico, the last governor of Alta California under Mexican rule, built El Ranchito here in the 1850s. The adobe survives as a state historic park, one of the few buildings in Los Angeles County directly associated with the Mexican period of California government.

Ford built cars in the city from 1958 until 1980, and the plant site later became the Pico Rivera Towne Center.

The city is now around nine tenths Latino, with Whittier Boulevard and Rosemead Boulevard as its main routes.

The 605 runs along the eastern edge, with Montebello west and Whittier southeast.

Los Angeles County recorded 2,298 accidental drug overdose and poisoning deaths in 2025, a 6 percent fall from the previous year and the third consecutive annual decline, according to the county Department of Public Health. Deaths are down nearly 30 percent from the 2022 peak of 3,220, driven by a more than 40 percent reduction in fentanyl-related deaths.

The county’s own analysis found fentanyl overdose death rates nearly four times higher in its least affluent areas — those where more than 30 percent of families live below the federal poverty level — than in its most affluent, at 39.1 against 10.0 per 100,000 in 2024.

Which Level of Care Do You Need

Pico Rivera carries around two listed programs including one of the county’s 35 licensed opioid treatment programs. Counts come from the federal SAMHSA treatment locator.

Medically Supervised Detox

Detox manages withdrawal under clinical observation across several days. Pico Rivera carries one detox program, with four more in Downey within fifteen minutes.

Inpatient Residential Treatment

Residential care means living on site for weeks or months. None operate here; around nine sit in Downey and one in Whittier, of roughly 222 across the county.

Outpatient, IOP and PHP Treatment

Outpatient care lets you keep working while attending sessions. Pico Rivera carries around two outpatient programs, and its licensed opioid treatment program puts methadone within the city.

Dual Diagnosis and Co-Occurring Disorders Treatment

Dual diagnosis care treats a substance use disorder and a mental health condition together rather than one after the other. Around seven Downey programs treat co-occurring serious mental illness, of roughly 187 across the county.

Sober Living Homes and Transitional Living

Sober living homes provide substance-free housing after formal treatment ends. Certification of California recovery residences is by the California Consortium of Addiction Programs and Professionals rather than the state.

Addiction Treatment Cost and Insurance Coverage

Both local programs accept Medi-Cal and Medicare, and both provide services in Spanish.

How Much Does Addiction Rehab Cost in Pico Rivera

Outpatient care in Pico Rivera runs roughly $1,200 to $5,000 a month and IOP $3,000 to $10,000, with detox at $7,000 to $24,000 and residential at $6,000 to $45,000. Both local programs accept Medicaid and Medicare and provide services in Spanish, with one running a sliding fee scale.

Medi-Cal covers medication for opioid use disorder with no premium and no copay, including methadone through a licensed program — and one of those is in the city. Los Angeles County provides no-cost substance use treatment at any provider in its network for anyone who meets the criteria, regardless of immigration status, and an intake appointment should be scheduled within ten calendar days of a screening.
